Governor Fashola Your Attention Is Needed On This...Fast!

ATTENTION GOVERNOR FASHOLA ....You said ''Eko o ni baje ooh'' right?
Well Hon Oloro is not working in line with your motto,Please call him to order.

Read this Sir!
''Why is the Nigerian Government, especially its officials, killing the masses directly and indirectly because of their own selfish interest? Now, a member of the newly-registered All Progressives Congress (APC) and Chairman of Ojodu Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, Hon. OLORO, has concluded plans to demolish the Retail Market in Ogba area of the state, which is in his jurisdiction.

This is a place where people earn their daily bread, with the shops owned by the masses and not the government! Meanwhile, the complex has won the award of the cleanest market complex in Lagos State several times. So why is the chairman planning to demolish the complex and create more crisis for the masses, who earn their daily bread from there?

This will be totally unfair by an APC government that prides itself as a government of the masses! We are using this opportunity to call on His Excellency, Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola of Lagos State to come to our aid by saving us from the heinous decision of Hon. OLORO.''

Please call Fashola's attention to this if you are a blog visistor who has his contact!

  3. Stella, is this how Fashola will be interfering in every decision a LG chairman takes?

Did you find out the reason behind the chairman's decision?

What if Fashola was called to order and prevented from putting order in the chaos called Oshodi?
Just because some masses sell their wares on the road and some commercial drivers swore to park anywhere on the express.

It was this same calling to order of Amaechi by Aunty Peshe over the demolition of some water front settlement that led to the current war

Can people learn to engage with their grassroot leaders and find out real issues instead of raising an alarm all over the place?

  4. If the market is not supposed to be there, then its not supposed to be there. Belonging to a priviledged few masquerading as masses has nothing to do with the matter. Thank God they are not playing the Tribe card.

  5. I know that market and it has no business in that area of Berger. Its one of those markets that traders forced on the landscape because of the high population in that area.
Its a major source of traffic congestion and there are bigger markets not far from there.

  6. The demolition I want to believe is to make the market better so should be appreciated but the original owners must be given allocation first once the reconstruction is concluded. Why people fear govt reconstruction is cos d govt officials and politicians can allot all the shops to themselves without considering the previous owners. This is where Fashola should step in and ensure fairness in the allocation.

    Concerned shop owner.

  14. I stay in the Ogba area and believe that the only help the retail market needs is to stop traders from extending their wares to the road side or pedestrian walkways such as was recently done at the Sura market.

Other than that, the traders do not need an overly priced modern market which will further impoverish them as it's trite that the Lagos State Government tends to rebuild old markets for the elite. It is only the elite or public funds enriched politicians and their cronies that will be able to afford the acquisition of the shops for a high amount on lease! Yes, I said lease as that is how the refurbished Tejuoso market was sold; high price for a 25 years lease.

Many markets are being demolished instead of rehabilitated e.g Falomo, which to me appears as the govt's ploy to increase its IGR and not for the public good. Most of the markets where sold out rightly when they were built years back; thus they are not generating much revenue for the govt presently. So I'm guessing the govt wants to reverse this. Which way would be better than rebuilding and giving it out on leasehold? Your guess is as good as mine.
