Have you been following the war in Syria? My friends there are stuck even though that's their native land and they are looking for a way to run but all the embassies have closed shop.........scary!

Whats you take on this war and the role America wants to play?
Its scary how people hunger yet there is money to fight a war..why is mankind so wicked?why cant they just end this war?I hope this is not the end of Syria.

Lets discuss.

  1. War never solves the problem... Iraq, Libya, Egypt, Afghanistan.

  2. I stayed in Syria (precisely in Damascus) for about three years studying and I must say it was one of the best places I ever lived in. It is a country with blessed and historical sites, an ancient civilization, good people with pure hearts. Unfortunately, they do not have a good president. Their president is indeed a tyrant and oppressor....people are not given freedom to their lives. Well, this is not different from many other presidents in the world as we have today.
However, having mentioned this, it is worthwhile to also mention the West's interference with the internal crisis in Syria. US for instance claims to be against global terrorism and pioneers the fight against it yet it's involvement with some so-called rebels who are accused of having link with al-Qaeda is so obvious. The British government as well has been sponsoring some of these rebels by providing them with funds and weapons to fight against the Syrian regime. This is indeed fueling the crisis in the country. Western governments' are accusing the Syrian regime of using chemical weapons on her citizens yet there are news coming out that the US and British government in collaboration with the Saudi Arabian government provided the rebels with the chemical weapons used. Is this not another excuse by the US government to invade another country just like it did in Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam, etc? All the countries invaded by the US are in total shambles and destruction. They claim to invade the countries in order to impose democracy on them yet they create more problems and crisis than the ones they met.
The Syrian regime is a democratically elected government unlike other Middle Eastern countries like Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Yemen, etc. They want to impose on Syrians their own version of democracy but do not want to do the same thing to Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. Is this not double standard? Yes it is. The reason is very clear. They are only interested in the oil deals and how to use these monarchy governments as tools in attacking other countries that are anti-West. It is obvious that the Syrian government has not been a pro-Western government over the years. And in the US system any government which is not in agreement with the US government is considered an oppressive or enemy government so sanction will be the next resort.
One important thing we should take note is, it is the US and European meddling in other countries' affairs that result to some unnecessary crisis in some parts of the world. Their foreign policies are problematic. They use their FBI, CIA to create militancy and fund different militant groups after which they will use that as an excuse to invade or interfere with other countries' internal affairs. The US for example uses her Embassies to act as spy centres and proxies in tapping confidential information of people and countries. We have seen this as evidently brought out by people like Bradley Manning, Snowden, Assange among others. We should not be deceived by the rhetoric used by these western countries to create more problems in different countries. Why did US not go into CONGO to assist them in creating stability? Why did it not go to LIBERIA to restore stability? Why not Sierra Leone? Why not Guinea? These are important questions for us to ask ourselves.

I wonder if the US will succeed in its plan to invade Syria because Russia and China are completely opposed to it. The Russian government has its marine base in one of the Syrian states (Latakia) and will not allow America to invade Syria. And if it does, then its going to be another war than the one we are witnessing in Syria now. More children will be killed, more women made widows, more refugees, rapes, etc

    2. I too have lived in the middle east for more than four years ( i still do) ....it is obvious that america is the problem of this planet. They deliberately create internal conflicts in areas where they have alterior motive. They then move in pretending to want to help, thereby achieve their selfish aim. I dont have the security report but i know that its america that supply the rebels with the chemical weapon used, so as to justify their invasion .
Its time for people to realize that no one can love them than thselves. Looking up to superpowers for help is useless; they dont care for anyone aside their own citizens. American is in deep financial shit: they are looking for where to make extra cash: by destablizing oil producing nations, they can 'harvest' their oil free of charge....its time for all nations of the world to see the enemy in america.

  4. All efforts by the international community to make assad step down peaceably failled....the only way the war in Syria can end is to get assad down and since he refused dialogue then force must now be applied to save the few lives left there....*feelawsawfar*

  6. As per the chemical killing, I wouldn't be shocked if the US govt had a hand in it. The US govt is never sincere; there's something in Syria they are interested in, hence the desire to invade the country.

The same thing Bush did to Iraq is the same thing Obama wants to do to Syria.

BTW, was any weapon of mass destruction(WMD) discovered in Iraq after the invasion?
    #food for thought#

I'm glad China and Russia are in this matter; let them checkmate US and their gra gra and oversabiism!

  7. Nigeria has worse problems than these Middle east countries constantly at work. The standard of living in those countries are way better than Nigeria's and our leaders are as mad as the devils running those places. Its just that we don't have apetite for war.

For these reasons, I've refrained from dissecting other Countries' problems when there's fire on the mountain back home.

  8. When the US invaded Iraq in 2003, the excuse by Bush then was that suspected weapons of mass destruction were on ground in Iraq. Before that invasion they issued an ultimatum to the officials of the UN in Iraq to vacate the country within 48hrs of the military strike. Imagine the insolence. 5 years gone; and in 2008, after US had lost more than 5000 marines to the senseless invasion, Bush was asked again why Iraq was invaded. He said it was a major step to checking terrorism. Where are these weapons the US was looking for? Where is this so-called major step Bush was talking about? The whole thing is such a failure that the US is even considering negotiating with the Taliban. US military bases, police stations, politicians, mosques and churches are being attacked EVERY WEEK in Iraq. Scores of people are being killed. Our own Boko Haram wahala is a child's play compared to what Iraqis are facing. Yesterday a US base in Iraq was attacked by Al Qaeda, SUCCESSFULLY. Since 2001, the amount of money the US has spent on war can blow your mind to pieces. Where's the positive result? Now, they want to embark on another oversabi journey. I'm beginning now to think that US are the real TERRORISTS the world should avoid. Things they touch these days just wither and die. Imagine Obama and Cameron threatening to cut off any kind of aid from African countries who don't reverse their stand on gay relationships.

  9. Stay out of Syria. It will be another Black Hawk Down.

If you are wondering why America hadn't intervened long before now, it's because their oil isn't overflowing like in other Middle Eastern countries. They always weigh the commercial interests alongside fighting wars.

BTW, if America supports the rebels that means they are supporting Al-Qaeda, because the rebels have elements of AQ within. They will concoct anything to invade that's why the chemical weapons issue has now surfaced. Why would Assad use chemical weapons when he knew the UN Monitoring group was in the country? He also knows that if he uses it, that's the fastest way for the West to invade his country. He's not that stupid.

  11. Where there are natural resources, u bet the West will want to intervene. Why not go and save Somalia? Just like they ignored Rwanda, if there is nothing to gain, then their savior complex is contained.
    SMH.
We have our own problems here.

  12. @anon 1:41 PM, advise taken. I would have mentioned more on Israel and Syria but my post was beginning to be too long so I closed it up there. I would have also gone further to discuss about Arab countries.
@2:39 PM, you hit it right on point. @Memphis, more of such comments needed. It seems some of us Nigerians are beginning to understand the global politics unlike semi-educated commentators like Queen Bee and Moi who have no idea of things that go around the world except the media propaganda and deceptions they digest.
Thanks Stella for making this worthy of reflection and discussion.
