Is this Muslim Christmas already?..I Have never really understood the difference between barka de sallah and the others.

ReplyDeleteWhat you refer to as Muslim Christmas is Eid el Maulud. Its a public holiday but celebrated low key. Then Eid el Fitri, which is celebrated after 30 days of fasting. Then the most celebrated one which involves ram killing is Eid el Kabir.
So you say Barke de Sallah on all those days.

DeleteMuslims celebrate to Eid (Arabic word for festival). The one on the first day of the tenth month of the Islamic calendar which marks the end of the fasting month and the beginning of a new month. And the second Eid (eid al-Adha - meaning the Eid of sacrifice) is celebrated on the tenth day of the 12th month of the Islamic calendar. The second one is the one been celebrated now. It has a historical significance. It is the celebration of the supposed sacrifice when God asked Abraham to sacrifice his son but was later replaced with the sacrifice of a Ram. It is for this reason that Muslims commemorate that day.

Pls Muslim blog visitors, is the ram that is goin to be shared today a sacrifice? As in etutu? Cos I dunno why my brothers and parent dnt eat it....and they won't let me! I just want understand the meaning of the praying session those alfas and imams do on the ram before it gets slaughtered.

Eid el adha,it is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide to honour the willingness of the prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his young first-born son Ismail (Ishmael)a as an act of submission to Allah's command and his son's acceptance to being sacrificed, before Allah intervened to provide Abraham with a Lamb to sacrifice instead. It is also known as feast of sacrifice, muslims dress up in their best clothes head to d prayer ground in the morning and pray before slaughtering the ram or cow. The meat is divided in to 3parts, 1st part is for the home, the 2nd is for friends and neighbours n relatives, d 3rd Is for the poor and needy. It is an act of sadaqa ( charity). So sharing meat to ur neighbours whether muslims or non muslims is part of the eid celebration so they can also partake in the celebration and enjoyment. This eid is not a devious or juju kinda sacrifice, so we r not scared of anythng which u term as the truth. I just told U d truth or u can still ask google. Your family did nt eat d meat because they are mayb scared or don't associate themselves with muslims but I assure you there is nothing wrong with d meat. What I didn't understand from your comment is the term 'innocent people'. Its an islamic celebration if u feel victimized in a way, then don't clearly accept the meat.
