An SOS For Assistance In Nabbing Online Scammers Afrimart.com.ng

I received the email below and i think it is only fair that i put it out there in case anyone else falls victim...this is totally unfair!...This is the second email i have gotten accusing them of same thing.
I called the number stated on the email to get the other partys side of what went wrong but the number was constantly switched off..i have mailed him.

Hopefully his response will come after this publication....this is totally unfair.

Afrimart.com.ng
has been discovered to be a fraudulent website. It is a fake online shopping mart that has been found wanting in every ramification.

Recently, on Thursday, 2nd January 2014, to be precise. My cousin (Moses Okoli) contacted Mr Yul Ibe (the owner of the site) via the number 07018982501(as instructed) and ordered for 2 Samsung Galaxy S4-Black Mist at the price of #32,000 for each phone(totalling #64,000). Mr Yul Ibe then told my cousin not to pay via E-Tranzact, stating that people had made several complaints about the inefficiency of the payment system. My cousin being curious asked Mr Ibe how he was now going to pay for the items; Mr Ibe then told him to pay via his UBA account:
Name: YUL IBE
Bank:   UBA
Acc/No:2065492189
(which was there on the website).

On Friday, 3rd January 2014, my cousin payed #64,000 into the said account. Attached to this email, is the proof of payment.

On Friday, 10th of January, 2014. My cousin contacted Mr Yul Ibe, asking why he hasn't received his order. The man told him not to worry that the items were going to be delivered to him by Konga.com (imagine that!).

That was when my cousin realised that something fishy was going on. He then, called Mr Ibe's number again, on Saturday, 11th January 2014; there was no response...he kept on calling but no one picked. Then he (my cousin) sent Mr Ibe an email (afrimartng@gmail.com), stating he was no interested in buying the items but wants his money refunded...however, there has been no reply from Mr Yul Ibe till date.

Pls I need you to assist me in bringing this fraudster (Mr Yul Ibe) to book; so that he and whoever his cohorts are, would face the wrath of the law and return the money they stole from my cousin(Moses Okoli)''.

*Afrimart please respond to this allegation, your company name is at stake.

  3. Your cousin should take that payment print out to the bank with a print out of his email interaction with the said Mr Yul.

The bank through the account officer to that account should be able to smoke out Mr Yul.

Be rest assured that your cousin's N64,000 isn't gone. Just go through the bank; they must have done a proper 'Know Your Customer' background checks before opening the account. Cheers.

  8. Its usually wise not to go for the so called "awoof" deals. Who sells samsung s4 at 32k. One step to identifying scam deals is that it's always to good to be true. Same for those so called Nigerian Customs car auctions where they claim a car worth 5m will be sold at 1m. Greed is what pushes people to such deals. As of today konga.com sells the S4 for N88900. Imagine two at 64k less than the price of one....lol. My people shine your eyes o and be informed.

First thing first, the poster should walk to the UBA bank with. 1. A copy of the transaction receipt.(Original copy) 2. Printout of all emails received/sent to the mr yul. 3. Get a police report. "Cos without a police report, the bank (UBA) will be relunctant to help him" infact they will ask him to get a police report. The bank will track him (Mr Yul) down through their KYC details (know your customers) and aswell block his account. Secondly, the poster should also take same police report to the GSM network company of Mr yul, they will also help to track down the idiot present, post and future location. This is the only way forward! i.e of the poster's cousin wants to recover his money! Goodluck on your steps for Recovery.

  22. choi, dis na scam. pls take ur receipt to the bank.as u were adviced by SARAFINA ,the bank should be able to help u track the account holder. but i seriously doubt that account was opened with his true details and trust our account officers to perform a detailed KYC. but any how just try

  24. Na wa o. Please Mr. Okoli. Go and report this matter to the police, then get a copy of your police report. Take it to UBA and show everything (write a letter) and speak to the manager. The bank will freeze the account, then sue him to court, you will get your money

    ReplyDelete
  25. But those people are professional scammers sha! where on earth will they have procured their goods to come and sell at those "too good to be true prices"
UBA should be able to track down the fraudster.

  40. I also fell victim of this scam. in my own case, i was able to get my refund, thanks to Simplepay4u. I made the payment through the payment website (Simplepay4u) where i was redirected to the interswitch webpayment gateway (the same payment gateway you see if you use quickteller) and i got exactly the same email format from Simplepay4u.
when i noticed the guy was not keeping to his delivery timelines as promised, i called him and he told me the same story of using Konga to deliver the items. In short, i wrote OLX (cos i got the info about the site from OLX) and wrote simplepay4u. simplepay4u's response to my mail is shown below. it means that the company (Simplepay4u) actually do due deligence on their merchants.
i was able to get my refund after requesting for a reversal of the transaction from my bank.

    ************************************************************************************************************************
We are sorry for that. We have contacted the merchant on several occasions and he has yet to complete his verification. Your money is save. You can request immediately from your bank a bank reversal and we will credit your card asap.

Better Still if you send us details of the card (last four digits and Name on Card) and you create a SimplePay account we will credit you.
