Chris Okotie's Fleet Of Luxury Cars....How Do Pastors Make Money?

55 year Old controversial preacher Chris Okotie is a man of means........and he is not apologetic about how he lavishes his wealth on luxury cars.
Check out his fleet of cars ooh.
Should i congratulate his good taste of picking cars or ask him how he makes money to live the way he does?apart from being a preacher what else does he do?

Don't get me wrong,i am not hating, its just that i am of the belief that Pastors spend the tithe  of their congregation, please correct me if i am wrong but i am sure i am saying the mind of some people.

I listened to Pastor TD Jake's preaching one time and he talked about giving to the man of God who delivers God's message to you...his message encourages people to give to the men of God because they are too busy with God's work to go out looking for money...well that is how i understood that message,it blessed me and i understood that we have to give to them but.....

How many people display such wealth in their garages?

Anyways someone should enlighten me on this and God should please forgive me if i am wrong!

    2. Stella I will share this with u, perhaps it will give u an indepth understanding to certain things that has to do with God, His church, and His REAL servants.

A while back a woman was seeking God for a particular blessing. She had prayed, fasted, cried, and done all humanly possible. But nothing was forth coming. So she decided to adopt another way of asking God, she wanted to provoke His blessing.. so she bought a brand new car and went to give it to her pastor to pray for her. The pastor here is Pastor Adeboye. I mention his name because many may have heard him give this testimony before.

She presented Adeboye with this gift of a car, and as usual he blessed her and prayed that God will answer her prayers. That's it. She went about her business expecting that God would fulfil His own side of the deal.

On the other hand, Adeboye also went about his usual business. The car was parked somewhere and he didn't touch it or think much of it. After all he gets gifts every single day, most of which he also gives out to others. So this particular car was not any special or different.

Until one day, God started to disturb Adeboye. And when he asked what God wanted..God answered that " do you know that u are the one withholding my daughter's miracle from happening? ". Surprised Adeboye asked how, and God said that because he(adeboye) has refused to use the car this lady gave to him, that her requests was being delayed...and that until he starts to make use of that car, nothing would happen. Adeboye then asked God to forgive him, as he didn't know that not using the lady;s gift could hinder her miracle. and he went ahead to make use of that car. Of cos the rest is history. This woman returned to testify to the goodness of God, even though she was oblivious to how it finally happened.

Stella my point here is that sometimes certain things have to be done in the physical to attract heaven's blessings upon ur head. Now I speak for only the spirit filled men of God. I speak for those whom God truly speaks and deals with...so many people have too much to give God for prayers that have been answered them. when u are so overwhelmed with joy u can give God ur last penny in appreciation. That is if u are grateful and not stingy. But can God spend ur money? can He ride your car? Can He eat ur food? No dear. It is the one whom He has used to bless u that u will bless in return. In this case ur pastor.

In case you wonder whose story I just told, I am the lady in question. So yes, there are so many others like me who like to draw God's attention by making an astounding sacrifice or commitment to box God to a corner.

Aunty Stella oh, sometimes these MOG don't even take from the church that's what u shd know! They actually pay their tithes! Bishop Idahosa was paying about 80-90% of his income as tithe before his death. And so it is with some of them.
So what then is their source of income? Many of them write books...Adeboye, Kumuyi, Oyedepo, Gbile Akani, etc, the money their books bring in can actually sustain them and their families. Some also have their private businesses like every other person. Don't forget that most of these men were actually doing well b4 been called into the ministry...Adeboye was a lecturer, so was Kumuyi.
Then we shouldn't forget that people's gift are part of what they have. There are people that prefer to give to Men of God even when they have what they want to give them, because they believe in sowing and reaping. And trully its a way God blesses them(the givers) too. Some people can buy very expensive cars for their pastors!
So please, before u start bringing calamity opon urselves peep, make sure u are saying the right things.

    2. God bless u Anon 4:39pm. U have said it all. Most of them are professionals in their own rights, even before they heeded God's calling. Like my pastor now, he's a lawyer.
Moreover there are some individuals who apart from their tithe, have decided that they'll pay their pastor monthly salary. Not to mention gifts from all and sundry. Besides God is the one who provides for the birds of the air, so He provides for the ones who are called by Him. Even though some fakes claim to be of God and they dupe unsuspecting members. God help us.

I rememba Pst. Okorie was a musician and was doing quite well in d 70s n 80s. The man probably made wise investments of his royalties, and has businesses too.
A lot of this pple publish books and these are their intellectual property. If every book that Pst Adeboye, Bsh Oyedepo or Bro Gbile Akanni publishes is purchased by every single member of their congregation world wide, ....I'll leave u to do the maths.

  7. Pastors who are rich and very successful in their ministry today in time past had their hungry days, those times when they did the evangelism alone, times also when they fasted and prayed for special grace and annoiting, and today their story has changed,God has indeed blessed them beyond their widest imagination.
When i see pastors flaunt wealth or buy private jets,i just tap into their blessings and wish my self Gods grace and favour.Pastor Okotie only just showed cars if you see what fellow pastors have in investment and cash, you will never underestimate God,this is my year of overflow, the same God who raised them from nothing is still that same God of today,Happy Sunday guys.

  14. Let's be fair here, even if you don't touch Tithe and offerings, a pastor as well known as Chris Okotie should have big big members that follow the biblical instruction that u should "take care" of prophets/Pastors nau, + I think Pastors control Offering but not Tithe.
2ndly most pastors are Authors they sell devotional and Books, they get invited to preach abroad and these people make sure they are well cared for.
    Not to mention connections.

  17. The truth is, as far as the people giving him the money are not complaining, then everyone should mind their business. Yes, we all know that religion has a major role to play in a religiously hypocritical society like Nigeria and these men focus on enriching themselves instead of making societal changes, but they have done no wrong. They have not offended their neighbor, neither have they been disloyal to their country. I can't remember any law that talks about religious manipulation being a crime, except it tramples on another person's rights.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Offcourse they tap into tithe to continue their life style. After our politicians, pastors are the most corrupt in Nigeria. I pray one day all of them will answer us here on earth. Pastors are so rich while members suffers in poverty is sad situation. If we need change in Nigeria it must start from churches and mosque.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Dear Stella,

I completely see your point, because some pastors actually live ostentatious lives and flaunt their excesses in the faces of the less privileged. However not all pastors do that. I will list for you some of the ways in which pastors earn legitimate monies that enable them live comfortably-

    1. Honorariums from travelling and speaking engagements
    2. Royalties and profits from the sales of their intellectual property products. eg books and CDs
    3. Personal business ventures, which they are perfectly entitled to run, as long as they are not conflicting with their conscience and the time spent leading their Churches.
    4. Salaries paid to them by the Church for their administrative and spiritual work at the Church which sometimes can be a 24 hour job.

Now, some pastors legitimately earn enough for them and their families to subsist from 1, 2 and 3, that they get to a point where they refuse to collect a salary from the Church any more. I know of a number of pastors like this. As an intellectual property consultant myself, I can tell you that government sponsored studies have determined that the world is currently powered by what is called a "knowledge economy". Gold, petroleum, etc, have given way to intellectual property. That is why pastors, bloggers, programmers, and musicians now seem to be "smiling". If you ask me, this is not a bad thing economically. It is actually causing the growth of the middle class, and closing the gap between the rich and the poor.

Again, from what the Bible says, the Tithe is actually what is used for the welfare of men of God, workers in the house of God, and widows and orphans who call on the Church for assistance. The Bible says to bring in the Tithe so that there may be food in the House of God. As a (PK) preacher's kid myself, I can tell you that growing up, we had hordes coming into our house, whom we constantly fed. No matter the time of day or night, we fed them. My parents also paid the school fees of many, and my parents were not even tithe-receiving-pastors. They were just Lay-Preachers. For the pastor whose working hours do not allow him to engage in other business activities, the Tithe is essential to the welfare system that the Church provides through him. Still, I cannot put my hand on my heart and say that ALL pastors live like this. All the same, I will not let the abuse of a good thing deter me from being a part of that good thing. Fundamentally, I give my Tithe because I know that everything I earn is because of God's goodness to me, and so when I give it, I acknowledge that He is my Source and that my hustle cannot sustain me. So I will give my Tithe, and let God do the judging of the pastor's administration of Tithes.

You got pastors making people eat grass, you got pastor making people give them their body for their sexual pleasure, you got pastors making people do anything they want. Anybody can get up and say they received an anointing and call them self an evangelist. Then they cloak themself until Bible verse, their favourite being, "touch not thine anointed".

I don't know how Nigerian pastors make their money. But I know here in the west, many of the pastors write books, or sing and make cds, they also do a lot of paid speaking engagements/gospel concerts and are able to amass their wealth that way,and some of them really don't have touch the money from offerings, because they make so much in other ways. Others do depend on those offerings for survival though and so they are able to attain some wealth from dipping in the tithes bucket. As a child the tithing plate was just a dish, nowadays most church have a deep bucket..lol
