Nigerian Governors With Private Jets And Their Cost.

According to IntergrityReporters ''While most Nigerians are wallowing in abject poverty and inability to make ends meet is the other of the day in most homes, their governors in the states are living in affluence spending billions to acquire aircraft which cost can make you have a wide eyed expression.

As they display their affluence, majority of people they govern are unable to afford three square meal as they live below one dollar per day as agreed by United Nations’ standard. It is also worrisome that despite the abundance of wealth and resources God gave the country, Nigerians are still wallowing in poverty, no thanks to their governors.

Below are the names of governors with private aircraft bought with tax payers’ money and their cost;

Governor Godswill Akpabio:
 The imposed PDP governors’ forum chairman was formerly working with one private Telecommunication firm (PTO) located at Ajose Adeogun Street, Victoria Island, Lagos before he was elected Governor of Akwa Ibom State in 2007.
He is now serving his second term in office as Governor of Akwa Ibom State. He acquired a state- of-art   jet which set the state back by $45 million. The jet was manufactured in 2011 and it is with FAA registration number N224BH.

Governor Rotimi Amaechi:
 He is the embattled Governor of Rivers State, is in this league too. His jet was said to have cost the state $50 million. It is a Bombardier Global 5000 with number N565RS which he acquired for his exclusive use, despite the fact that there was flood disaster in his state by the time he got the plane.

Governor Dambaba Suntai:
 He is the Governor of Taraba State. He also bought Cessna 208, 5N-BMJ for himself. Suntai was described as an aviation enthusiast; as well own two other aircraft and a helicopter to the detriment of the people of his state. He crashed the Cessna 208, 5N-BMJj in 2012 when he was flying personally to Yola, Adamawa State.

These acquisitions of aircraft among Nigeria state Governors confirm the muddled priorities, corruption at the highest level in the administration of the state, where chief executives and their inner circle live in insensitive luxury despite the poor living condition of Nigerians.

Private jets are the new status symbol among top echelons who are entrusted or elected into power by the masses but turn to be oppressors''.culled

  2. My question is:Will they sell them when their tenure expire.
    Anyways,I was opportuned to fly in one of the aforementioned Gov's PJ,the interior is something else. Shiny, black n brown interior. The toilet is gold colour n slightly blue. When you are inside,u'll feel safe n pampered. I stood up to go to the fridge n get me some drinks but I fell and hit my head on the couch. The Gov and his aides were laffing at me,as I wanted to shout at them,I WOKE UP FROM MY SLEEP. So, na dream?

  9. Tanx for dis this morning cos we need journalists who can educate many Nigerians of what is happening especially when u see people praising dis corrupt leaders. When u graduate and start working,u'll understamd better. U earn 90k monthly. Pay tax and d yeye pension ur salary nw gets to 70k. Wht can dat do fr u? A 2-1 graduate, with masters. Very hardworking bt people see u and call u lazy cos u're nt stealing. I cried whn I went to my vet shop and saw tax returns pasted. U cn imagine? Meanwhile d moni u pay,u dnt see what its used fr. Thy enrich themselves @ d poor's expense. No road, light, water, security. Nothing. Dirty environment. When u go abroad and enjoy all these things that are luxuries in Nigeria, thy pay tax and are enjoyn things. Meanwhile nigerians cnt live abroad cos thy pay tax, bills. Thy dnt even knw the importance cos in Nigeria thy'v bn deprived of their rights.heard pound is nw 174 to naira. See hw valueless naira's becoming. God will judge all this so cald leaders. Karma will visit dem. Its still the poor masses tht will suffer frm all dis mess. Thy will still send their kids abroad and buy houses there so thy cn run whenever its convinient. Why do we even hv governors,LGChairmen, ministers, commissioners. What are thy doin? Why *re thy there? Apart frm donald duke that even tried to make calabar the way it is today. So Nigerians that can't travel abroad, go to calabar fr vacation. Why cnt someone say even if I steal(nw its normal to steal, lol chai)let me mk dis place better to live in. Thy'll steal and run to abuja after their tenure.cos thy cnt stay in local and dirty environment thy had the opportunity to develop and didn't. Let dem enjoy their private jets, steal all they can and also bribe death when it comes. Andwe were wondering why people allover the world liked MANDELA.

  11. thank you so much Stella for always being objective. one thing i've observed about you is that you always present ALL sides of the story even if ou have to CULL' the versions from somewhere else.

    some journalists have been bought over by some of these governors and now act as their apologists. they no longer take time to do balanced objective reporting. for instance everyday you open sahara reporters, they present Governor Amaechi like someone who is constantly being victimized. meanwhile he is part of the bandwagon, impoversihing ordinary Nigerians by this lavish display of wealth that is not his personal money. menahwiel traffic congestion and general infrastructure failure is on the rise in his state. its so bad that senator Abe could not get simple tretament for odinary shock right there in PH but had to be flown abroad. how can any objective investigative journalist report on that story with any iota of sympathy?

    well done SDK!

  12. The main reason they never want to leave power.its either they want to become godfather of their state or go to the senate, they can not maintain the life they have built around themselves as a private individual. No company or factory to even employ the citizen they are stealing from or for them to fall back too.God will judge them the same country and state they refuse to fix will claim them.
