The Life We Live And The Role Of Baba God!

Sometime ago during a trip to Spain, I decided to hang out with some people I know there. This young guy came greeting, I had never met him before, but seeing everybody greeting and happy to see me, he too joined in.

“Chairman! Chairman! why are you drinking RED BULL? Please have some Hennessey so you will feel really good” Smiling I assured him that i was having a nice time with my RED BULL. Later on he took me outside to have a little chat…“Chairman, I just want you to know that I am hustling hard. I am not a lazy chap. Very soon I am going to buy a HUMMER JEEP”

I looked at him properly; he was not more than 23years old and probably not up to 2years in Europe. A Hummer Jeep?

“Yes Chairman! Not through my strength, but with the help of BABA GOD. I have been praying so hard, and this is all I am asking BABA GOD to do for me”

Again I asked, you want to drive a Hummer Jeep in this country?

“Yes Chairman, with the help of BABA GOD”

Then I asked him a vital question

“But where are you going to tell the police you got the money from because you obviously don’t have a job?”

Laughing very hard he replied

“Don’t worry about that Chairman! I will drive the Hummer Jeep in this country, I will even buy one for that my brother” (Referring to his elder brother that was advising him earlier) still laughing he continued "Chairman I know you are not into this kind of thing, if not I would have asked you for some connections in your country but I know yours is only music”

Again he continued “Chairman, don’t be worried about me, I am not afraid I shall travel to Greece all by myself, walk into the Bank and collect the money.. but not by my own might but by BABA GOD”

Then he got all serious again telling me how much he wanted BABA GOD to help him get the Hummer Jeep. As I listened to him, many thoughts went through my mind.

Here was a young man not more than 23yrs old, about two years in Europe, has a single room and shares the living room with others, probably has 1 year resident permit, and all he thinks about is owning a Hummer Jeep. the most intriguing part of the conversation was his deep belief and conviction that GOD will help him defraud and steal.

How do I begin to tell him God does not get involved in such things? I weighed my options and realised there was absolutely nothing I could have said that would deter him, because his heart was fixed on that Hummer Jeep and through indoctrination by somebody, he firmly believes BABA GOD will help him get whatever he sets his heart on regardless the means.

I don’t know how he ended up because that was long ago, but as I reminisce over that incident I am forced to ask myself if much has changed with us as a people since then.

The big man just finished his sexual orgies with 3 girls young enough to be his own daughter and he goes to church the next day and drops a huge sum of money as his Tithe and goes home fulfilled because he believes by this act GOD has answered his prayers.

The exotic rich society lady is not left out, she too brings in the young university girls and after sleeping with them she also drops in huge sum of money as Tithe and believes her prayers are answered.

Then we have the nice lady that is secretly having an affair with her best friend’s husband after all he was the one that approached her but then she is not missing out of the good things in life because she drops her Tithe money and believes her prayers are answered.

Finally we have the owners of the country stashing millions and billions of dollars away at the detriment of the ordinary people and they eat and sleep well at night, after all they have front rows at the house of worship and they drop in tremendous amount of money as Gifts and Tithe.

So it might not just be the young man (from Spain) alone, but maybe so many of us have finally figured GOD out and how to get our ways after all we are a very religious country, and his name is constantly on our lips 24/7.

So just like the guy I met in Spain, we too may have been indoctrinated by somebody or by ourselves that BABA GOD shall always come through regardless of what we do. Maybe, just maybe… that is why it is no longer fashionable to talk, discuss or preach about SIN anymore in most of our places of worship!
 Think about it

Even Ashawo prays to baba God before going to stand on the road.
Arm robbers call on baba God before going to operate.
Lovers shouting "oh my God" while having having sex
People swear & cuss in His name
    Calling His name in vain
    God is a patient God
    No one like him
We all are guilty one way or the other
    God have mercy on us.

  2. "Shall we continue in sin so that Grace wll abound? God forbid!" We are all guilty of the same thing, not just the 23yr old in spain, not just the people mentioned in this writeup, everybody is guilty, even our very own spiritual fathers, we do things conciously, with the conviction that when we pray or do a little good deed like; helping that disabled kid that asked for money, being a worker in church, tithing faithfully and for some just asking for forgiveness immediately we commit the sin,for some even before the sin, it settles it with God.we would even say "God I hope you understand" With all this I say thank God for GRACE.

    1. Make I even gist una Wetin happen today in church.....

During testimony time in church today, one guy rose up only to shock me with his testimony. He said during his university days he only paid his first year school fees. After that he didn't pay a dime until he graduated.

People were busy shouting and clapping to the glory of God. Personally, I think that guy should be arrested for defrauding the institution, not being celebrated in a church of God. If someone had paid for him it's a different case but this one was an error, and he didn't bother to report to the authority. That's FRAUD!

  8. Nice writeup. I often wonder what the definition of SIN is. Is there a categorisation of sin? Does hell fire have departments where those with BIG SINS like murder and SMALL SINS like a white lie go? Or is SIN generally a "ONE SIZE FITS ALL" thingy?
IMHO, I believe you should do to others what you want others to do to you. Irrespective of your belief, just dish out to others what you can stomach.
Nigerians are very religious yet very sinful. I've met clerics who have children outter wedlock, clerics whose private lives have no morals yet they preach daily of the holy book.
In this era, preachers hardly talk about "right living", it's all about the money baby. Ever heard of the phrase "I will teach you a level of GRACE you've never heard of" before? Google Ese Walter for details.

May BABA GOD help us to live right daily. Wishing Stella and all blog visitors a great week ahead.

  9. I like so totally agree with Lenny on this. He is so on point. Religion is the bane of this crumbling country and our so called men of God cannot as much as castigate those leaders on their wrong doings because of course they are also into the game of looting.

  10. May God bless dis writer, everything he has written here has always been on my mind. This is exactly how we are living our lives here especially the so called 'christians' u cant make out anything from d sermons preached in churches, pple have been brain washed abt paying of tithe and then all u need God wld provide, just make sure u pay ur tithe, it's really disheartening, whatever happened to preaching d gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

  11. Very good piece here. I was unfortunate to have fallen in love with a G-boy during my undergraduate days. Dude would be like ; "pray for me to hammer babes" and I was like 'duh.. To which god na'. Most of these guys give the largest tithe and offerings in church and the church on their part do not care about how you got your money. I remember the case of a student that gave testimony in my church of how he made money, bought cars and became the bread winner of his family after the demise of his dad and the funny thing was that the guy was a full time student then. Pastors are harvesting money for themselves by preying on the gullibility of nigerians. The reward for giving is receiving regardless of whom it is you are giving to. Pastors be turning billonaires on peoples sweat and they in turn do not give back to the needy in the society. God get plenty cases to judge tho...

  12. So true. Most of the people that cuss others out for example are "christians"
They called each other names yesterday on various topics of the blog but today they'll be in the front row of the church dancing and praising God. Forgetting that the prayer of a sinner, an abomination unto God.
    It is well.

  13. Hmm...
The Grace of God is abundant, believe me. Cos even in our iniquities God still showers His mercies on us.
My life, right from the moment my mum went into labour, till now is a testimony of the grace of God. According to my mum, she was in labour and there was no one to bring me out. The nurse who was on duty heard her calling for help but just stuck her butt to her seat. I came out of the womb all by myself and by then, my mum was weakened. A nurse came out of nowhere and cleaned up my mum and I. When my dad arrived at the hospital and heard what happened, he raised hell and threatened to sue. The doctor apologised profusely, the wicked nurse got sacked, and nobody could locate the nurse who helped my mum. The doctor said that they had no such person working there!!
I was born with a K-leg, but if you see me today, you will never know except I tell you. My legs won me the position of 1st runner-up, Miss NYSC, 2011 Batch C, Ekiti state. I've never seen myself as a teacher, so when I got my posting letter to a school, I fretted. And by the time I went to the school to make myself known, I was told that the school would not be able to accommodate me as it already had more than 25 corpers. But God had a better deal for me. I got to serve with MTN without hustling for it. I fell sick and would have died coz I wasn't feeling ill but I had lost a lot of blood. When I came home for treatment, the doctor told my parents that I got lucky.
I finished my service in 2012 and in March 2013, I got a job. Lots of people are still searching for jobs.
I am a Catholic, but I can't remember the last time I went for confession, or received Communion and my sins are uncountable.Despite all my shortcomings, God is always there for me. I am still expecting more blessings from Him.
I'm doing my best to repent and face Him.
    It's all BY GOD'S GRACE!!!

  14. 90 percent of Christians are guilty of this.
We are mostly 'Good Time Lovers'.
We only remember God when we are in dire need thereby relegating HIS role in our lives to that of an 'ATM machine'.

Its hard but we also have to acknowledge God in good and bad times.
We also neglect the duties we have as children of God. We only cling to HIS promises.

May God help us to be better Christians this 2014.

  15. Thank you Lenny for this message. All I can say is, 'Lord I am sorry, I have turned around and gone astray. Your trust for me I have betrayed, your Lordship I have despised'. Help me to see beyond now. Forgive Lord, forgive.

  16. Nice words of wisdom! I am also guilty.. After fornication with my fiance, i still go and pray to baba God.. But TBH who isn't guilty.. We have all sinned and come short of the glory of God.. Hence, we all are still are striving to be better.. The spirit is willing but the Flesh is unwillingly and the body is weak.. It is not easy.. We all need God's abundant Grace when it comes to sins. Sin is sin no matter how small. It is well..

  20. Hmm... Food for thought and all so true. The case of the Pastor coming up with a " robust reply" comes to mind! We take the Grace of God for granted and we are all guilty of these or other sinful actions at some point. In this new year, let's consider our ways.

  25. What we all are guilty of is SIN, but some of us will not justify it by seeking GOD's help in that state. The summary of the write-up is based on those who justify their sins and think that, instead of repenting and seeking HIS Mercy, they want to *blind* GOD with their sanctimonous deeds. People who, instead of taking corrections from their fellow man would rather scream "holier than thou...don't judge...religious bigot...". They're people who sin but will NEVER call GOD out in their sinful activities. I'm a sinner, big one self, but for me to seek blessing without asking for forgiveness and mercy is just impossible.

  28. It is mostly common amongst Nigerians including myself. This is very common because i think Nigerians are stubbornly optimistic people, they work very hard be it in doing evil or good. We are very religious people that believes there is a Supreme being somewhere regardless your faith. Everyone is guilt of these things except you are perfect and have no sins.

  33. Thank God for this piece! Thank God for GRACE our God is an unquestionable GOD; KABIOKOSI O if u read through the bible u will understand that our God is truly an unquestionable God and yes He is still God in the Days of king solomon to date He blesses whom He pleases. I believe in grace atleast it explains while most of the bad girls in school got married to the best husbands and while most of us that were good girls in school are either separated now, divorced in a second marriage or single today. I think the most important thing is doing our best to do the right thing, envy no one, love our neighbours in short follow the ten commandments. Am going to give an illustration here about 2 brothers that wants to go out to fix a lot of life many issues then the cloud suddenly goes dark like it wants to rain;brother A decides to go out irrespective of the all the signs that it will rain but brother B said he will go out after the rain! After like 5hours brother A comes back accomplished and yes it still has not rained so brother B decides to go out too and behold he has not walked 5mins it began to rain heavily he could not accomplish anything and had to return home! Life has thought me that God is God and all I can do is beg him for His grace upon me and my children. He can decide to make the heart of man like a stone so that he wouldn't listen and He can also decide to raise a stone to work for him! Our ways are not His ways! May His Grace continue to abide with us all. Above all always remember to do the right thing always.
