Church Vs Court Vs Traditional Wedding - Which Does God Recognise?

Getting Married is getting married right?

So i was wondering....what type of marriage is really in accordance with Gods word?
Is it possible some people are married in the eyes of man but not of GOD?

between
Traditional wedding
Court wedding
Church wedding.

Some people do it all three but some people only do one of these three.

Which of these three aligns with Gods word as concerns marriage?

Any preachers in the house?

  1. Those three weddings are problems that Nigerians brought upon themselves. All is needed is for the two parties concerned to come to an agreement and their religious leader blesses the union. Legal certificates came about because of property laws and Inheritance laws.

    4. In the catholic church,...your family must willingly give you †Φ your hubby(traditional), then, the blessing from God (church)-thats y you must come †Φ the church with your engagement ring(its inside the form filled inbthe church if your dowry has been paid or not which means church Ȋ̝̊̅§ I̶̲̥̅̊n̶̲̥̅̊ support of traditional marriage!) since ℓ̊τ̅ would be unlawful if one married without a license, the church gets one from the court so that the marriage may be valid α̲̅πϑ certificate(same as court) will be issued †Φ d couple!. So, everything Ȋ̝̊̅§ intertwined!

  2. Most christians will say church of course, but to me legal marriage is more important, even my husband told me, this way you and the children are protected. Do both church, traditional and legal if you can.

  4. Its worthwhile to say, the church marriage. why? It involves uniting two people at the alter of God. Alter which in a biblical way symbolises the presence of God.

  6. Stella post my comment! I used to get confused over this b4 but I know better now. The law recognises both traditional, court wedding and Church wedding in some reg. churches. Otherwise its just mere blessings. But most importantly is customary over church. It is our tradition. And in d sight of God, all are good. Bible recognises that their customs and traditions of ppl. Abraham did no church wedding, he married according to the norms of the land. The church wedding is d wHite ppl's tradition and I repeat no culture is more superior than the other. There's been a move to vatican to clarify this. As this is not fair 4 africans esply nigerians to host two weddings @ a time. I hoped I made sense. #Belle

  7. Since there were no Christian churches during Jesus' lifetime, it is obvious dat a church marriage is not required. Tho, many people prefer to have a church ceremony as a public acknowledgment and sanctification of the marriage by a religious leader.
Even in the time of our ancestors,we only had it traditionally and it lasted a lifetime.
Most westerners simply engage in a civil ceremony and find that satisfactory. IMO,If you do any of these, ure covered.
    Enjoy!!

  8. God recognizes any of them
The voice of the people is the voice of God.

  9. They are all recognized by God. Do not let anyone tell you order wise. Before church came in to existence, people just had traditional marriage and that was it,it didn't mean they were living in sin. As long as the man has done the necessary bride price payment, the woman is the wife . You can't have church marriage without traditional marriage but you can have court marriage before traditional.

people just do what they can afford. If you cab afford the 3,good. But let anyone not say you must do church marriage cos it is written in the bible and if you say it written in the bible, please quote... And don't use the "what God has put together" quote... That is applied in every case

  12. I believe God loves the church wedding cos ''His Word" is fulfilled therein." A man will leave his father n mother .....". In my church here,b4 u do ur white wedding,u MUST hv a court wedding. Infact, the High Court uses a room in our church every Tuesday in order to wed intending couples. Traditional is a when u marry b4 the umunna, umuada n ndi omenala.

  13. God recognises authority so any1 in position of authority can join pple in marriage. D family n community give authority 2 elders n head of d family, d law gives d d registry/court d authority n d church is given authority by God am assuming so, they r all legal.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I would say legal marriage is the best, legal marriage could be done at the registry or in anglican or catholic churches. NB: not all pentecostal churches and others like it have the license to wed couples. Like in my church for instance before they wed couples, they would tell them to go to d registry first cos they don't have d license, and so cannot issue u legal/valid wedding certificate.

Back to the matter, I know God sees our hearts, and so far what we are doing is legal and without sin, I belive he recognises both court and church weddings. Traditional weddings also are recognised by God but it would be best if after the traditional ceremony you invite a pastor or priest to bless your marriage cos Jesus Christ is the foundation of every succesful marriage.

  15. Church us more better because if the spiritual implications, besides that, some churches have marriage licenses from government, the registry thing, so it's like doing the church and court(Marriage under the Act) together. The Catholic Church dies this and some prominent pentecostal churches.

  16. The question was which does God recognize, not state. Church of course. if you are living with a man or woman without a church wedding in the eyes of God you are committing fornication. The church is obliged to register u legally before you can be wedded in church.

    ReplyDelete
  17. In the old there was nothing like church wedding or court wedding its was traditional wedding, wedding is wedding, God recognises all wedding and blesses it, God is a loving God, he is a God of love, and recognise every good thing one does, and one of such good thing is wedding, so, either court or church wedding, God will bless one's wedding as long as u marry a wife and not a woman, like the bible told us he who marry a wife doeth good and obtaineth favour from the Lord

  20. I'm really interested in this. My fiance has said he is not interested in Church wedding cos he is Agnostic. He wants us to do only registry and trad. I'm happy to do that but my parents are adamant that I must do a church wedding. We both live in the US and planning to do our registry here, then go back to Nigeria for the traditonal rites but my mum said she won't forgive me if I don't do a church wedding. This man has all the qualities I want in a man and is even more loving, repectful and attentive than most of the men I have met. I don't understand why my mum in particular keeps bugging me. Does having a white wedding guarantee happpiness or does it guarantee that he won't divorce me. As a matter of fact, having a registry marriage here protects me more. This man is loves me and above all he has MY time. He has his own private practice and I don't earn up to 10 percent of what he brings in a month. Yet he seeks my permission before he does any major spending or takes a huge decision. Imagine the pride I feel when a man people respect and look up to says 'I will have to discuss with my fiancee and get back to you' or 'you can say whatever you want in front of my fiancee cos we don't havee secrets from eachother'. I know everything about him down to his last kobo and all his friends and family. Should I leave this man because he is Agnostic? I am very confused and sad cos I want to please my mum too, but should I do it at the expense of my happiness. What if I make him do a church wedding and he changes afterwards? I would rather have him remain the loving, caring, happy, reliable and open person he is than make him do it and he changes. I kissed more than my fair share of frogs before meeting this prince charming and I don't want to lose him. I want to wake up beside this man all the days of my life. How do I make my mum understand? People please advise me on what to do. Stella I beg you in the name of God and all that is holy please post.

  21. The wedding that is acceptable unto God is the Traditional Marriage!!. This is because, this is where the dowry is paid. The dowry is the "IMPORTANT" thing. Everything of value must cost something. Remember that Isaac had to pay the dowry of Rebecca in the bible!!. All these beautiful white weddings we do, is for our own pleasure!. Once your dowry is paid, you belong to the man and his family!.

  26. Clue: Which wedding did Jesus and his disciples attend in Cana in Galilee? John 2. Was it in the synagogue (Church), Sanhedrin (court), or in the lady's home . . . the answer is obviously the third; the lady's home; once the dad takes the bride price; it is done! Think about it, if your daughter goes to court or church (only) and tells you that she is married; how will you feel?

  31. Traditional marriage is recognize in the bible the first miracle jesus did was in marriage ceremony wen the wire finished.if one follow the story well u will see it trad,my lawyer friend told of a woman who did not do trad but only church wedding wen she started having issues with the man the court ask her to bring her family members and the man too wen her uncle came he said he dose not know the man and he was asked why he said his just seeing him for the first time same with the husband people, all because he did not pay her bride price. Church dose not accept bride price they only bless union.court may protect u in case. But ur family will stand cos they witness him taking u away from them. Trad is the main thing others is ok but not that important. Court recognize tred more than church ask lawyers.

Traditional marriage is the most important and recognised by God,man and your tradition.....Jesus says we should give to ceasar what belongs to him and to God his ....in traditional marriage the parents gives their consents, the umunna's and umuada's though very annouying take their shares....God is present cos he instituted marriage,ur friends and families are witnesses.....u r married in every sense of the word after your traditional ..which must not be elaborate

  39. All through the Bible there is nothing like church or court wedding.. Only the consent of the father of the bride. Nd even if the father says he's giving his daughter away without bride price it's still marriage nd God has recognised it.but for sake of respect the man has to bring some items to the brides house.. All the marriages done in the Bible was traditional.. The man get the consent of the father shikina.. Nd once the parents of both couple blesses u, u can live together nd seal the marriage with sex ..that's no sin at all.
