Lanre Hassan aka Madam Awero,and Idowu Philips aka Iya Rainbow are two of entertainment's best in Nigeria.
Before i go further,let me state here that these two veterans deserve a standing ovation for their interpretations of movie roles....however there is only one crown for the best.
Which one these two is better?
Or should we split the crown into two for both?
The choice is yours!
We have to split this crown oh. Madam Awero in 'Dear Mother' is epic! And Mama Rainbow is just too good in any role.

ReplyDeleteOk. Both are legends in their own rights. We saw more of iya rainbow in the earlier days of home videos because madame Awero was mostly featured in TV series. Fast ward to when the horizon of home videos became wider, we started to see more of madame Awero because English movie producers also verged into yoruba movies. Thus making her more versatile and sought after. Iya Rainbow is over 70 and still very sharp and pro active, madame Awero is in her 60s but not as physically sharp as iya raunbow...but her versatility to interpret broken English and a bit of more English roles has put her over iya rainbow. She got the name madame Awero from the TV series with Aluwe and Jide Kosoko. Today you'll agree that madame Awero is featured more in movies just for this reason alone, and because she's well connected to the non yoruba circular movie producers. However both of them are ingeniously good in the movie sector. There's no contesting that. I would give both the crown anyway. My verdict

i will go will iya awero. Mama rainbow is good too, don't get me wrong. But iya awero is better.
