MEMO TO LAGOS STATE MINISTRY OF HEALTH
I need any medical personnel reading this blog to please respond and inform or educate us...This is really very important!
What is the next step when someone in your immediate environment displays signs of Ebola - stooling and throwing up? Is the best step to run away or what?
The question here is ''what does one do when a someone close seems infected and the emergency numbers are not responding fast enough?
Read the mail i just got and you will understand why i had to ask this question!!!
''Stella of life, there's really fire on the mountain but people are running quite unlike TY Bello' s song.
A friend called me early morning if i knew any emergency nos in relation to Ebola because their estate gate security was vomiting and stooling so residents were worried about the Ebola thing and i sent her this nos 08023169485; 08055281442; 08033086660.
She said people called but called but kept getting redirected only to get this message later:
''Please send specific details for me to deploy a team. We are very extremely short staffed. Very few people are willing to volunteer to help us. Please bear with us''.
Imagine their reply!
My friend replied: Everyone is afraid to pass through the estate gate. So we've bin forced to stay at home o. We need to pray against dis outbreak.
Now it seems there are not enough volunteers and response time is slow. I think we need to know what to do to protect ourselves while rendering help to anyone cos it might even be a family member/friend ( God forbid).

ReplyDeleteThs is the only reason y nigeria will never move forward! We are too selfish! Very few selfless pple in ths Country, that's y we can't even stand up as a group and fight the govt, if ths was another country, pple will troop out in dozens as volunteer to help combat ths deadly disease, but we all seat @ home and pray to God to save us, God will never come down, he has given us brains, common sense, everything we need to combat the issues in our lives! That message brought tears to my eyes, they are short staffed, bcos Nigerians care only bout themselves , may God have mercy on us all. Fyi, I don't live in lagos! Trust me if I did, wld go and volunteer. Will rather die saving ths country, than fold my hands and do nothing.

People have Ebola for real, n it has ended some lives. Its fast spreading in lagos, n if care isn't taking in Nigeria as well. So what shld we now talk about? Ur lice infected afro hair?
DeleteUnfortunately you can't wish away Ebola, if she talks about it or not more people will still get infected but some cases are avoidable so it's best she talks about it so people can be properly informed. Donate that money to the people working in the Ebola response team instead.

Please, go about with your normal duties but be sure not to touch the gateman if you can help it.
Please, endeavour to buy latex or surgical gloves to be used in cases of emergency. So as to limit your level of contact with the individual.
Since he or she is not yet a confirmed case of ebola, please get him to the hospital. Other illnesses present with the same signs and symptoms, its best for medical personelle to move him,as they have a better idea of barrier nursing.

ReplyDeleteMay I suggest, as harsh as it may seem that you keep your children at home when school resumes until we see a way out. That is what I will do . I will rather have a dull/ lagging behind child than a dead one. That's my take sha.
