19 year old rapes chicken to death in ondo

A 19 year old apprentice welder was caught today having sexual intercourse with a chicken. The chicken died during the act. He was said to have been banished from his home town because if the same act and consequently moved in with his brother in Akure. 

The suspect who said that he was directed by a spirit to do the act later apologized to the owner of the Chicken Mrs Stella Akintola who resides in the same premises with him. He was said to have confessed after the hen was found dead in a toilet and a loud alarm was sounded by the owner. 

Nigerian woman causes Ebola scare in Germany. 

A Nigerian woman was reported to have fainted in a public job centre in Berlin. The newspaper Bild reports that she was found to have symptoms of Ebola after examination and has been quarantined. About 600 people present at the job centre were quarantined and the area in Premzlauer Berg district was sealed off but later reopened after a few hours. Tests performed however showed she did not have Ebola.The centre has been reopened.

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a man, identified simply as Julius, for allegedly raping a seven-year-old girl (names withheld), damaging her private parts and distorting her urination.

PUNCH Metro learnt that 29-year-old Julius, who lived in a rented apartment on Obafalabi Street, Ojodu Berger area of Lagos, allegedly tricked the little girl into his room on the night of Saturday, July 26, and had illegal carnal knowledge of her.

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Gali Na’Abba, on Tuesday said he had been searching for job since he left the House in 2003.

Na’Abba, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, represented the Kano Municipal Federal Constituency of Kano State from 1999 to 2003 during the former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration.

The Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Suleiman Abba, has directed that the suspected suicide bomber arrested near the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, on Monday be moved to Abuja.

A security source said that the IG ordered the transfer of the physically-challenged terror suspect to Abuja for immediate interrogation and investigation into his activities.

The source said that the suspected insurgent would be in Abuja on Tuesday evening in view of the urgency of the IG’s directive.

The suspected suicide bomber was said to have attempted to bomb the annex office of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, located inside the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, when he was apprehended by security personnel on Monday.

Luis Suarez has promised Barcelona fans he will never bite another player, as he was officially unveiled by the club on Tuesday.

The Uruguay striker had been in limbo since FIFA imposed a four-month ban from all football-related activity after his infamous bite on Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup.

Suarez, who cannot feature for Barcelona in a competitive match until October 26, admitted he is also seeking professional help to avoid any further lengthy sanctions.

Nigeria's foreign debt has risen by 40 per cent to $9.38bn, up from $6.7bn recorded last year, according to the latest data from the Debt Management Office.

The DMO said on Tuesday that local debt component of the total national debt was currently at N8.9tn ($48n), up by 37.1 per cent from N6.49tn at the end of March 2013.

Accordingly, the nation’s total public debt has also risen from N10.1tn as of March 2014 to N10.4tn as of June 2014.

The Director-General, DMO, Dr. Abraham Nwankwo, in a chat with journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, however, said the $9.3bn external debt profile represented an increase of $500m or 5.6 per cent over the $8.8bn figure recorded as of December 31, 2013.

The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN has confirmed more than 90 per cent of the banks operating in the countryhave complied with its directive to install Anti-Scheming devices on their Automated Teller Machines, ATMs. 

The Anti-Scheming device is to help protect banks’ customer against fraud from fraudsters that uses various means.

The CBN’s Director, Banking & Payments System Department, Mr. Dipo Fatokun , who confirmed this development to Vanguard after its opening remarks at a meeting hosted by the Nigeria Electronic Fraud Forum( NeFF)featuring the CBN, Deposit Money Banks, DMBs and other stakeholders in Lagos, said “The CBN has gone to the banks’ ATMs to check compliance and to ensure that the banks complied with the directive. More than 90 per cent have complied.

A FIRST year diploma student of Computer Science at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State, was on Monday crushed to death by a bus belonging to the fleet of Akwa Ibom State Transport Corporation, AKTC, in front of the university gate.

The student, simply identified as Cynthia, was said to have died on the spot, prompting the students to burn the vehicle that killed her.
The driver was lucky to be alive as the students were said to have accepted the appeal of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Hillary Edeoga, who intervened in time to save the driver’s life.

HUNDREDS of residents of four communities in Etche Local Government Area, Rivers State, have fled their homes, following shootings in the early hours of yesterday, which reportedly started Monday night.

The communities involved are Egwie, Okomoko, Ulakwo 1 and Ulawkwo 2.
Vanguard gathered that the gunmen allegedly sponsored by an opposition politician moved from one community to the other, shooting.
Caretaker Committee Chairman of the council, Mr. Charles Anyanwu appealed to youths of the area to shun violence, adding that they should ignore offers from politicians to carry arms.

It was learnt that a military man and an Air Force officer sustained injuries during the incident.
