So sad, so much suffering in the midst of plenty. Unfortunately such stories abound. May God heal her and avenge for her.

    4. Couldn't get past the page she was sexually molested without shuddering..Dear Lord!
Judgement for all the wicked is what I pray for and that includes every woman who mistreat her help. What's so difficult in treating a harmless child as your own? (this question should be for mama Oyinyechi)..and to be sexually molested to top it off. Heaven help these helpless ones pls and I hope both families are brought to justice.

  6. Wow,these gals really do thru so much stress and still don't get paid? And as if that isn't enough, she was thrown out of the window? Hmmm. I am sure some bosses in Nigeria are same. I don't advice against not having one but pay them up on time and be nice to them. That way your kids are safe when you at work and you food is good at all times..

  19. It's not uncommon, these maids oftentimes get physically n sexually abused by dese Arabos. Almaz's still lucky she got sent back alive. My girls cousin (a HH in S Arabia) was sent bak in a coffin wit her throat slit....d madam accused her of sleeping wit her husband, d accusation dat was denied by d girl (d maid).
While she was tied to a chair, getting ready to be slaughtered like a chicken she never was, Madam straight up told her to call her Fam. in Ethiopia n tell them she's abt to go down . Chai!

Anyways, Mama was still crying in confusion, dota don bid farewell. The rest na history

  23. I just don' t know why anyone in their right minds will for Arabs, especially Saudis. The horror stories I have read, about mistreatment of foreign workers is maddening and so upsetting. We women can be is evil, especially those from a male dominated society. We nigerian women behave just like the Saudi women pure evil and wickedness. Remember stories, here in naija, how women, burn, beat maim there house helps, so before we condemn let's take a look at home.

  28. That is so unfair and sad, hope she gets justice. Stella you should address the abuse a lot of house girls suffer in Nigeria with the madam maltreating them and the Oga raping them. Some of the women who even comment on your blog are also guilty of beating their maids, giving them rubbish to eat, having them sleep on floors even when there is a bed and the husbands even abuse them sexually. Let us deal with our own Nigerian problem of employing underage girls as maids

  37. Did someone just say Arabs are wicked?!!! How is this story different from that of millions of housegirls in Nigeria?
Did they burn her private parts? So only one man raped her? I see. She's a foreigner but Nigerians mistreat little girls from their own villages.
How many housegirls have been called witches?
How many housegirls have been falsely accused of theft and thrown in jail?
How many housegirls have been repeatedly raped by every single man in the homes they work in and then thrown out when they get pregnant?
How many housegirls have been beaten senseless for accidentally dropping dishes?
Nigerians will ALWAYS condemn others for the very things they live and breath.
As for me and my home, any domestic help we have ever had gets an education and three days off every month. Salary paid without fail, parents given a bonus, new clothes, shoes and generally treated like she is in a home and not a prison.
So many people in nigeria have helps that sleep on their verandahs or under the stairs. And most of the commenters here are such Nigerians.
Stella just put a mirror before us all and you all missed her point.

  41. Arab women are really bad, even in dubai ul see them going from one luxury store to another and one poor girl tagging behind. Even their kids are very ill mannered but u can see the difference between the way female children are treated and male kids. They have no control over anything in their lives so they visit that frustration on their hired helps and turn the other way when their husband's do suvh bad things , cos speaking out will result in their fall from grace and no more designer items. One time I went with my beau to a store in the spice souk to buy some natural items for a mind blowing experience*wink* and met a 'local' woman there, the persian store owner winked at us and whispered to us not to repeat what we wanted. After the lady left he told us that the locals are very wicked and the woman could get him into trouble for selling such. Very terrible lot.

  42. There are thousands of Almazs out there, this is not isolated to just one person. Some are beaten, set ablaze, raped by every male member of the household. No matter the money in those places I would prefer to suffer in my own land. Hellz no, most of these women are no better off from working in those lands than when they left. Worse, which Arab court is going to prosecute their own for an African? Blacks are considered beneath animals in those countries and only fit for slave labour, there is no law on the books to protect you. As bad as North America and Europe are, there are laws to protect you there. Folks think if they are Muslim they have oneness with Arabs, you still Black, Muslim or not, and you will be dealt with according to your race, not a thing else.

The only hope for Almaz is that the evil done to her stay on the conscience of her oppressors all the days of their lives and that their entire generation suffer in the same way that she did.

  44. Kai! See what poverty does, to have a woman send off her daughter for another to abuse her and her husband sexually doing same.
Horrible! and that is the reality of many young girls.

    So sad.

  45. Hear everyone's outrage as if that is not how most of you treat your domestic help here in Nigeria. And as for the mums who said the girl was too forward, why don't you work for your employers or your clients without pay? Nonsense.
