SEVERE MORNING SICKNESS AND STOMACH PAIN
Stella,
I greet, Well done o,helep a sister out. Stella, morning sickness don kill me o (mine is 24hrs sickness). I was encouraged that it will stop at the 4month, I have hit the mark but it even got worse.
Haven't been to church or anywhere in months, Can't leave my room(the whole house stinks) except when going to the hospital to collect bed and be stuck on IV for days, nothing stays down, liquid, solid and even gas. Lol. I can't even take my prenatal drugs cos nothing stays down for more than 5mins. The vomiting is almost every 30mins even when the tummy is very empty, with excruciating pain in my abdomen. The pain no be here, I don cry tire. My doctor keep saying it's normal (there is nothing normal about this biko), I have lost all my body weight and looks like someone who's been sick for yrs now.
Hubby has really been pitching for me the best he knows how and I really feel bad for the poor guy. I have tried bitterkola, ginger tea, chewing gum, everything and anything but no relief. Abeg my own dey different? This is my first time being pregnant.
Yesterday was so tough, I cried all through and couldn't even touch my phone. Pls how much longer will I be this miserable? What can I do to get a relief? I don't even sleep at night cos of the pain till abt 3am and even the faintest noise wakes me up.
Let BV's helep me biko. Iphie dearie, GW and all other lovely mothers in the house, how una dey do am?
Make una no leave me like this o, you guys (all BV) are the family I have and love.

*Wow this sounds serious.mine always stopped on the first day as i entered the fourth month, however I must not fail to say that monrning sickness turned my life inside out and upside down.I used to stay in bed from morning til night and night till morning..OMG,i dont even want to remember.
I can just imagine what you are going through but i cannot understand your stomach paining you.please go to a good hospital and check,IT IS NOT NORMAL.
Doc in the house what do you say?

DEALING WITH CANDIDA OVERGROWTH SYNDROME (COS)....HELP!

Hi Stella,I write this with tears in my ears. I'm just fed up of life. I want to end it all but suicide is not an option. It all started about 8 years ago.I started feeling this intense pain in my stomach area.

After a while,I started feeling this crawling thing in my body.It came with other symptoms like bloating i.e I eat little and it feels like I've eaten the whole world, pain in my breasts, chest pain, ringing in my ears, dizziness, migraines, brain fog, constant tiredness n more symptoms that I can't even describe. It affected every part of my body so that if it's my head today,it's my stomach tomorrow and another part of my body the day after I still feel these symptoms except the crawling thing.

I have spent so much money looking for a solution to my problem all to no avail. I did several tests, scans etc but doctors weren't able to diagnose my problem. I just recently discovered from my research on the internet that I have Candida Overgrowth Syndrome(COS).I did a spit test as directed and it came out positive.

It is a condition that develops as a result of an overgrowth of candida in the small intestines.I need to see a gastroenterologist and an ENT specialist. I had swollen lymph nodes early this year ,I was treated but the doctor asked me to see an ENT specialist. This has absolutely taken over my life.

l finished 4yrs ago and I still haven't collected my result cos of some unsettled bills.I earn less than #20,000 as a primary school teacher and I spend all I have on my health..I'm not married, I'm not even in a relationship(I'm in my early thirties) and most people in my family think I'm just using this as an excuse.

This is all too much for me to bear.I just do not have the strength to go on anymore.

*Is there any Doctor in house that can treat this Lady for free? She doesnt seem to be able to afford her treatment and she isnt asking for money....
Na God i dey take beg on her behalf.

    11. I know dat eating a lot of guava really helps to regulate one's menstrual cycle. some years back I used to have irregular menstrual cycle and without even knowing I was always eating guava dat period cos it was in season and it was really cheap, then I noticed dat particular month that my period was very regular. It was after some time dat a friend told me dat one of the nutritional benefits of guava is that it helps to regulate one's menstrual cycle.
U can also browse out fruits/ foods dat help to regulate menstrual cycle.
Same goes for other health issues, am not saying it's a 100 percent cure buh it will go a long way to help esp. Prevention.
For the lady wif d infection issue,i know garlic helps a lot, it has anti fungal, anti bacterial and several oda anti and uncle properties #lol just make goggle ur friend (natural remedies for... and fruits/ foods dat have those properties mentioned earlier) in addition to seeking medical care. Above all depression and anxiety suld b ur worse enemies cos they only make things wrse. Just keep speaking health and life to urself and u ll begin to c changes. God bless u

    10. Linda is right. I had morning sickness for 5 months plus with my first pregnancy. You most likely have what is called hyperemesis gravidarum. Pls ask your doctor to check for dehydration, because that should be your main concern as it can affect your baby. There are medication they can give you through IV that might stop the vomiting, but they are very expensive. God is your strength.

    13. I had terrible morning sickness wiyh my pregnancies right until delivery. The first one was really bad because I was on Nigeria at the time. There was nothing I didn't try - ginger, bitter kola, peppermint and more but they never worked. Things got better when I moved to Canada and saw a doctor who prescribed Diclectin. That has been my saving medicine with subsequent pregnancies. It is used for the treatment of hyperemesis gravidarum (terrible morning sickness). It reduces nausea and vomiting while you're able to keep fluid and food down though you will feel a little bit drowsy and sleepy. The benefits are great and I have met lots of people who have testified to it.

2: why don't you go to a teaching hospital where you can get specialist service at little cost.

Story of my life just that mine stops at 3months!! Just imagine going to work feeling this way! Not easy!
My senior colleague always used to scream at me during my ist pregnancy;Iphie, jide onwe gi aka(Iphie hold yourself)..She would tell me that once I leave my tommy empty,i feel more nauseous..so I used to just nibble!

Am guessing yours is worse...you dey try dear.. This second pregnancy just hit me like a hurricane! it knocked me down, luckily am on leave,so I do the crawling, crying, throwing up and blogging indoors...Right now,i am spitting up a lil bit,but with my ist pregnancy,i consciously held myself and used to just put bitter kola in my mouth(i hate bitter kola with a passion)..nne, you have to psychologically pull through on your own! If you were going out sometimes,it would make you comport yourself by force lol..Staying at home all the time is not helping you!

I talked to my doctors and they kept telling me to take water, water, water, fruits, routine drugs! Mtcheewww! Like that is what I wanna hear! My husband when he is home is always ready to moveeeee! I can want something anytime...and he berra get it!!!!

Lmao! I am also in need of a miracle too...please give us advice oooh..lolz
The only difference is that I notice mine is reducing..i hate water,it takes me 30minutes to figure out what to eat,am cranky as hell! Then I have the wee one that depends on me...

Shout out to Oil money and Jenny A! Tnx guys

    1. My friend had the tummy pains through out her first pregnancy. Her very experienced doctor kept assuring her all was well after series of tests were conducted. I was so concerned I took her to my own doctor for a second opinion and she repeated the same thing. Something about her muscles stretching, peculiar to a few women.

That way how she managed the pains through out the pregnancy and eventually gave birth to a very healthy baby. What a pregnancy! Thank God her second pregnancy was pain-free.

So Stella, in some pregnancies, the pain is normal.

  22. My 15year old cousin had a swelling in her arm in january. Her parents thought it was as a result of a fall and kept rubbing it for her, but when the pain persisted after, they went to LASUTH. We were told that she had cancer and that it was spreading so fast, she had to decide- amputate her arm or leave the cancer to spread. You all know what we cajoled her to decide with much sorrow.
My poor cousin's arm was amputated 2months ago, admist tears and all.
She walked out of her waec exams because she couldnt draw the pie chart with one hand.
I feel so sad, because i sense some negligence in LASUTHs treatment.
We noted their carelessness when they wanted her to do a MRI scan, the operator was so upset that they was steel in her arm, and it was careless for them to have sent her to do something in a magnetic field with such in her arm. We thanked God for letting the operator notice.

Now 4months after her amputation she cannot sleep, she cries everyday and night, she used to be a jolly good fellow that loves other children and helps them but the pain is making her become depressed.

I remember asking then if she will not do chemotherapy after the amputation but the doctors said no.
Now the girl is in terrible pain, she lost an arm and yet no consolation bcos the pain is even worse than before.
I took her to a private hosp for a 2nd opinion and the dr was awed and angry that LASUTH did not do chemo after the surgery, he said it is very careless of them to do such a shabby job
I dont even know what to ask drs in the house, but pls what do you advise us to do next. The family is just managing, i help in the little way i can. But this girls future is hanging in the balance, she is even talking suicide because of the pain.
If i feel this way, i can imagine how she feels. When i see her. My eyes tear up. Sometimes i wish i am not Nigerian, i know how the medical system is abroad, for a minor especially.
U expect the best from a govt hospital but we get shabby jobs..

    4. I'm so saddened by this case. What a burden for a 15 year old.
Truth be told, the amputation could have happened even in developed countries but it would have been followed by serious counselling to put her in the correct frame of mind. She would have had access to the best post-surgery treatment and her pains managed effectively. She would been given modified exams she can do with one hand.

Most things taken for granted elsewhere can be rocket science in Nigeria. I hope this poor girl gets all the help she needs.

my story is that i have severe period cramps, its so bad that i vomit, faint, have fever, cold feet, sweat profusely etc. Also when i'm ovulating i have pains.... dull but very painful in my lower abdomen, sometimes i bleed. Sometimes the pain killers prescribed don't work. Its like it has a mind of its own :)

Doctors can tell you all sorts but sometimes, it calms the mind when there is someone who can relate with what you are going through.

@ Poster 1- You may be normal. My cousin's first pregnancy, she was sick for the whole of the period- at least 8 months out of 9. she couldn't eat and threw up everything, she had to be placed on drips, to have something in her system. she was so pale and sick. Out of the 9 months, I don't think her total time at work was up to three weeks. she now has 3 boys. Her first two pregnancies were like that. Infact when she knew she was pregnant the second time, she nearly freaked out, she was really afraid, but the third boy- i think her system had normalized. it was stress free

Since you can't keep anything down, IV fluids with electrolytes replacements cos your electrolytes are probably out of place now. I'd been wasting money on primers for my oily face for ages till I was introduced to it (you can find some videos about it on youtube).I live in Nigeria, and it can be gotten from any chemist (sold 1$ in yankee, but its 2k in naija lol). Anyways, I always use it under my makeup... my face stays the exact same way when I getback from work... I excitedly tell people about this cuz the oil I bn dey suffer on my face fit fry akara lol... Now all that is history. Give it a try!!!

Ps: To Poster 1, I'm 7months preggers with 2nd baby, with some minor fibroids and when it degenerates it causes some pain. This is completely normal. every body's body is different

my first preg I was so weak, puked all the time, spitting all the time, could hardly eat. all of these during the first 3 months, after then , it all stopped I was filled with energy till 7months when I became so uncomfortable. difficulty in sleeping and all of that

my second preg, I didn't even experience morning sickness at all or discomfort or any of those things. the only thing was I craved for some crazy food. i'd park my car at allen and sit by one woman that roasts boli and yam and i'd be eating straight from the fire. she gave me a plate and one oil stew like this that comes with the bole and roasted yam. when am done, she calculates my money, I pay and drive off.

Silliest thing is I enjoy food I would not even look at if I was not pregnant. A friend was eating mango and I had some, since then I have been on a mango diet. Husband just bought a case of mango. Try looking for food you would not normally eat. No matter how you feel never leave ur stomach empty. Hope you feel better soon. Oh and i always chew on ice. For the pain it might just be ur muscles expanding. Go for an ultrasound to check for cyst and fibroid.

As much as it feels bad to know that some people went thru or are still going thru this horrible phase(I won't even wish it on an enemy), it still feels kinda good and soothing to know that am not alone in this, atleast there is something normal atall about it.
So I went to the hospital this morning and has been placed on IV fluids since morning, had 3 already and feeling a lot better(stomach pain stopped, it usually does when am on IV fluids which makes me suspect it is probably caused by the excess vomiting). Hopefully I will be discharged in a day or two.

Also do not eat bitter kola while pregnant. And an empty stomach makes the nausea even worse. Try to stay hydrated by sucking on ice cubes.
Hopefully, at some point in your pregnancy, it would end. Stay strong.

  62. For oily face, soap and water is the answer. Wash wash wash your face often. Even at work, use the rest room and wash your face once it starts getting oily. DO NOT use powder. You will only clog your pores and start getting pimple when there is no free path for the oily ish to flow through. All the best.

  66. Poster with COS!..THE 1ST step is to starva the yeast, this as to do with your diet, stop eating anything Sugar that have sugar and fruits (they contain natural sugar), because candida feed really well on sugar and multiply in that way.And milk also because it's the sugar lactose that tends to promote yeast over growth.
    *all the very best*
To kill the COS it's will take a month or more long process by using potent antifungal herbs or medicines. You need a Naturopathy for a course of antifungal herbs, for medicines, Take oral antifungal fluconazole (Diflucan) weekly for 6mths. And during the process of txment avoid sugar in that way you starve the COS.
Then after the course of txment Take probiotics (but not yogurt) once a night for 7 night, then 3 night for 3wks & then once a week.
Your Naturopath should also put you on a course of detox (this is very important).
