Actor Emeka Ike has slammed AGN president, Ibinabo Fibreisima and other Nollywood bigwigs for allegedly pulling Nollywood down.
He further accused some producers of sleeping with actresses as a prerequisite for offering them roles.
Speaking to Journalists at the 2nd edition of the City People’s Political Award held recently in Lagos, Emeka who wants to be AGN president said: “There are five people who have taken the laws of Nigerian movie industry into their hands.
They are Emma Ogugua, Murphy Stephen, Sunny McDon, Okey Bakassi and Ifeanyi Dikeh. These five people registered Actors Guild of Nigeria as their personal business. No other individual can come in.
My first concern is to clean up Nollywood, clean up AGN. Every Nigerian youth want to act movies now, what future are we leaving for them? Where are they going to write their names? The two bedroom in Surulere where they would ask you to come and grace their beds before they give you roles? Where they would make you join a gay group or lesbian group before they talk to you?
“Nollywood has gotten so bad that you must either strip and grace their beds or join the gay or lesbian group to belong.”
“The people at the helm of affairs are the ones killing Nollywood. Some of us the well-known actors don’t even know their rights. I dare say it again, they don’t. Nobody can come out to challenge me.”
“We built this industry with pain. Those who are at the helm of affairs now, people don’t even know them in the movies. They just came in and messed everything up.”
“Ibinabo has been acting as the president of AGN for years now, but with her case as an ex-convict, do you have any moral justification to recognize her as the president? The court case is still on and the war continues.”
“That wasn’t the industry I founded. My daughter will not to go into that industry tomorrow and they would say she must sleep with one of them to get a role. Neither would my son be a part of Nollywood that is full of immoralities,” he said....CULLED

If the Nigerian government copies China and says any actor with a dirty lifestyle can't act in films then it might help. But the Ibinabo part was a low blow. Nothing will bring the departed back. Its a tragedy but she has suffered, begged and been forgiven by the family. Let it go.

When you hear of international stars you think it was their talents that took them up there. Go through their history. Have you ever considered their lifestyles when they climb the ladder? Check out our Nollywood actresses and you'll know that what they do as stars was started when they were climbing up. Sincerely speaking, i don't blame any producer or director who demands for sex for role. If you are going to sleep with a dirty old politician, a motor park tout turned local government chairman, a rich robbery kingpin when i make you a star, why don't i get 'my reward now' before you become a star? The obvious reality is, when they become stars, they so look down on those director and producers who made them what they have become. They ride big cars provided by their prostitution while the producers and directors are still 'walking the streets'. They wont even give them credit when they grant interviews. Hear them, " i started acting from my mother's womb". " i have been acting since i was 4". So most producers and directors who are not sure of their reward in heaven, prefer to get it here on earth.
