2015: APC Says Jonathan’s Declaration After Student Deaths Is Insensitive

Nigeria’s main Opposition Party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has questioned President Goodluck Jonathan’s decision to declare his ambition for a second term less than 24 hours after about 50 students were killed in a suicide bomb attack in Potiskum, Yobe State.

The Party in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed, on Tuesday described Jonathan’s action as insensitive and senseless adding that of the almost 50 students were killed and about 80 injured in a suicide bombing in Potiskum, Yobe State.
According to APC, the President was “dancing on the graves of the students” as well as of all the victims of the Boko Haram insurgency in the country.
”Since this President has chosen to celebrate a national tragedy, Nigerians should also be ready to celebrate his electoral failure next year,” the party said the statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.
”Today, the three North-East states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe are in danger of being overrun by Boko Haram and over 650,000 Nigerians are internally displaced in those states by the insurgency. Yet, President Jonathan says he puts Nigerians first. Lies have never worn a bolder face. The truth is that for President Jonathan, it is Jonathan first, Jonathan second, Jonathan third, Jonathan always!”

The party added that the latest “act of blatant hard-heartedness, Jonathan was only continuing along his well-trodden path of acting without deep introspection.
“When about 60 students were killed in the terror attack on the Federal Government College, Buni Yadi, in February 2014, President Jonathan never visited the scene to commiserate with the families of the victims. When over 80 people were killed in the first Nyanya bombing in April 2014, President Jonathan went dancing ‘Azonto’ in Kano less than 48 hours later.

And when almost 300 girls were freshly abducted in Chibok, President Jonathan neither acted fast enough to rescue the girls nor visited the village. His Administration even denied anyone was abducted, until 19 days after!

”This President has therefore established a pattern of putting his political interest above the security and welfare of Nigerians who voted him into office. This President has trampled upon the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which makes the security and welfare of the citizenry the raison d’etre of the government’s existence.

“It is time for Nigerians to respond in kind by trampling on his political ambition and sending him back to Otuoke.” - Thepost.ng reportage

*Abeg enough already.it has just occurred to me with all this spitfire that anytime the President wants to make a move,Boko haram strikes to try and stop him.The re-occurence is really disturbing.I am not saying the president acted right or wrong,I am just saying that Boko haram is beginning to give itself away that it is soooooooo politically sponsored!...END OF DISCUSSION

And nobody should come here to call me a PDP card carrying member for saying what i have observed....una wan kill Nigeria finish just to stop Jonathan?

GOD PUNISH BOKO HARAM AND THEIR SPONSORS...!

    4. Stella keep quiet there. .even if it's APC what it Jonathan doing about security? He should be able to tackle the issue apc or not. Its just like thieves coming to your house and you know its your neighbour sending them what do you do? Do you just sit and let them keeping coming to rob you every week or you take necessary steps? Gej is the head of the military and should know what to do even if boko boys are apc sponsored. . So stella shut your trap.

    5. Is a pity how some ignorant people want us(Nigerians) to be playing into the hands of those that hate Nigeria. Governance is multi-faceted and all phases must at all times be attended to. So because GEJ decided to declare those anti-Nigeria, anti-good things, anti-prosperity went and threw bomb a day before so as to see if they can stop him. Shame on them and there supporters. Why didn't they throw bomb when they were declaring? And they think that these blood of innocent Nigerians will leave them? The day of judgement is coming and is coming soon. If only everybody(Opposition) will stop all these politicking and blood-letting and join forces like we all did during Ebola saga, BH will be a thing of the past bcos like Ebola, it is imported. But because it is serving the purpose of a very few and greedy Northern politicians/businessmen they are allowing outsiders destroy our dear Nation. God is seeing them and He'll not keep quiet any longer!! Pls read and be enlighten. EXPOSED: HOW CHADIAN PRESIDENT TRICKED NIGERIA INTO FAKE BOKO HARAM CEASEFIRE http://goo.gl/fb/2K6lpw

  3. God is watching. APC continue playing politics with peoples lives, only stupid Nigerians will not know what APC is up to. Since GEJ made his intentions known the attacks have increased, because of his deceleration on Tuesday the animals attacked again. The President can not be bombed out of office, Nigeria dose not belong to the North.

    2. See I am for people who speak their mind irrespective of whose Ox may be gored in the process. But this blame sharing has become politically monotonous and is of NO positive consequence to the affected when all we keep hearing is that the APC or LB or whoever else are the ones behind the massacre.

What we should be talking about is how to salvage what is left of Nigeria and her citizenry. Days ago I read Omojua's extensive tweets as regards this. And the young man made pertinent analysis that re echoed the minds of many. Ok we agree the govt are blaming APC or whoever, so what next? How are they curbing their opponents if at all?
OK we have heard that the northern Muslims are behind it. What next? We have heard that their sponsors are within the corridor of power, what next? We have heard and heard about the vast analysis of the possible perpetrators and their despicable motives and what not. But the BIG question remains, what freaking next? Until we all perish?

Show me a leader who has never faced opposition of any kind in any bloody country, and I will show u leaders who stand up FIRM and remain triumphant against such opposition. In cases where a leader feels that he isn't capable and has failed to deliver his people, such leaders bow out honorably. What next??

What if Mr President is told honestly that his stepping down from office would be the ONLY resolution to the insurgency, would he comply for the sake of his people? Or would he pass it as mere distractions from his opponents?
Which brings to mind this question, is the passion to remain a leader inspired because u want to keep ur people safe and happy, or is it a compelling force that wants u to remain in power while these same people die unhappy in their numbers and all u can say or do is to apportion blames?

I am a Jonathan lover and I have had deep sympathy for his predicament in recent days. But I however fail to see why he has not allowed the cries of the people to move him to take drastic actions. Pity political party is not the answer here... ACTION is.

  6. This statement emphatically shows APC is behind this Yobe mayhem, cos they already knew Gej is going to declare his presidential ambition yesterday, so they had to use their dragons (boko haram) to unleash their terror in Yobe, in anticipation that Gej would be thrown into confusion, but God surpassed them. They are out now to accused him of being insensitive, meanwhile they are the witches n wizards of this nation. Almighty God will fish all of them out one day and there would be a national disgrace for them. How can a people use an issue like this for political campaign????!!?. It goes to show that APC is a bloody party. Bunch of Morons. We Nigerians know better. You ain't buying our sympathy based on this. Let the Northern Elders fold their arms while their states burn to ashes. Heddiotsss!!!!

  8. I am not from GEJ state or anything, the North always feel like oh, once we say no, no man can say yes and I have had enough of their controlling attitude. If Nigeria belongs to all of us then we should have equal rights. I don't belong to any party but the truth must be told at all time. Since GEJ came in, they have not given him one day rest, so they think the day a Northerner will come in the people from the other side will let him rule in peace? Really?? SMH

Then a day before Jonathan's declaration boko strikes thinking it will defer him and make him look incompetent in the eyes of the media. Northerners need to understand that nigeria is not their birthright! Go to school they wont go but they want power so they can islamatise( don't know if that word exist) nigeria. 14. You are setting the tone bias and it is not good. What was GEJ doing when there was an explosion in Potiskum during a religious procession two weeks ago. What was he doing last week when Mubi was attacked and taken over. Let's be real, GEJ is inefficient. That's the blatant truth. He is not up to task. There can't bee excuses for the commander in chief of the Armed Forces. His inefficiency has taken a toll on the military. We can't continue like this simple.

    2. SDK is a woman I so hold in high esteem die to her level of intelligence but dis Ur commenthad rreally broken my spine......How cud u think dat a political party will sponsor killings just in a bid to stop declaration. Haba!!!. It's so illogical. Let's call a spade..a spade. BH kills daily, weekly ...does it mean dey sponsor d daily killings too?. BH is smarter than our defence military....if dey were politically sponsored dey cud have attacked right on d day of declaration in abuja.

Was d $9.3m arms deal sponsored too?
Was Stella oduah corruption charges sponsored too?
Was d #100bn dropped charges against Mohammed Abacha sponsored
D corruption in d petroleum ministry, 100,000 barrels missing daily,d ceasefire lie, let's count on and on

D fact remains dat we have a selfish president whose re- election concerns him more than anything.

If he cud deeply dia many soldiers and police to osun in order to rig osun election, why can't he, as d commander in chief of d armed forced mobilise d military to fight BH to a standstill.
      His insensitivity is incomparable

Wen synagogue church collapsed it didn't take him days to come to Lagos becos he believes TB Joshua as his spiritual father but it took him 19 good days b4 he cud believe dat d chibok girls were actually missing cos he said it was a scam initially. Even after then he neva for once visited d parents or d town.

Let's stop religious, ethnic or political bias.....let's all see dat dia man has failed us.

Let's all remain as one Nigeria and com together to restore d lost glory of our beloved country. Dis is our home....no matter wia we go, home is still home. Let's vote for change!

Let's think of d pains and agonies of our people, let's think of d frustrations and sufferings of our aged parents dat have one way or d other served a country dat has refused to serve dem.....let's think of d generations unborn.

We hold d change in our right to vote.....let's all exercise it.

      Its now or neva!!!

  25. Why would the North kill their own children just to stop GEJ??? It simply makes no sense.
Why do I ve this feeling that elections would not be allowed to go on in the North?
Why do I feel that the North is being gradually allowed to finish themselves so that PDP will win?
Why don't I trust our ruling party?
I love GEJ but I feel he is just a "push over". Come 2015, I will vote for whoever I feel can take the Bull by the horn and scatter all those that don't ve our best interests at heart. To hell with emotions and religion!!!!!

  28. For all of you accusing the APR, they are the opposition party. Their job is to shine light on Jonathan ' s mistakes. The Republicans do it every day to the Democrats. Whether they are behind the attacks or not our president control the armed forces. If someone is trying to sabotage your government, do you sit and do nothing or do something about it. He doesn't care period. He knows those behind this attacks but he has not guts to go after them so he blames. I'm beginning to think he wants this country to break like the west predicted. God will judge him and his cohorts

  29. How come the killing occurred on the day the president was to make the declaration. This is highly suspicious o. There is God o! Rose

    ReplyDelete
  30. Stella you've spoken my mind with the last paragraph. It wudnt sound implausible to say someone might have sponsored the killings in an attempt to paint the president as insensitive should he decide to go ahead with his declaration the next day. Well, only God knows and He will surely punish those behind all these at the appointed time.
