Father Sends American Embassy In Nigeria Heartbreaking Mail After Son's Medical Visa Refusal And Death..

This heartbreaking mail was sent in by a blog visitor who's Uncle just lost his son because he was refused a medical visa to travel and have his heart condition fixed. After the boy passed, the grieving Father sent in this mail to the embassy.....Blog visitor mail introducing herself also attached.

                   Dear Sir,
It is with a heavy heart and unbearable pain that I write this letter. My son Gabriel Temitayo Bada, born on the 14th of January 1990 is gone! Gone too soon! Gabriel Temitayo Bada who was suffering from a heart problem and needed to undergo surgery applied for a medical visa at the United States of America Embassy and on the 19th of November 2014 was subsequently refused.

This is after all necessary arrangements had been made by me his father. Where do I start from? Why  would any parent have to bury their own child? I put in a lot of effort in ensuring that Gabriel Temitayo be brought to America for treatment but all my efforts were rebuffed. After the shock of the refusal, Gabriel Temitayo Bada collapsed at the embassy and thereafter his condition worsened and he even asked me at a point what was going to happen next and if there was a plan B.

All this, while going through excruciating pains and suffering. I decided to write and send the embassy an urgent e-mail, explaining our plight and assuring them that Gabriel Temitayo Bada was a genuine applicant who wanted to come only for a heart surgery. I went further by highlighting the fact that he was a final year Accounting student and had only a semester to go before graduation. I did get a reply from the embassy via e-mail but that didn't look promising. Due to the urgency of the matter and our desperation, I proceeded to forward all the supporting documents including medical reports from both the hospitals in Nigeria and also the hospital in America to the embassy in Nigeria as both hospitals were liaising.

I believe that the deciding officer at the United states of America Embassy was prejudiced towards my son by not following due process thereby leading to the death of my son Gabriel Temitayo Bada on Thursday the 4th of December 2014. How could anyone be this heartless? I know that if Nigeria had not failed its citizens and adequate and proper health care is being provided, people like me would not find succour elsewhere.

This is too painful. I type in tears, knowing that my life would never remain the same again. I know embassy staff have been trained not to show compassion as was depicted in the e-mail reply from the embassy, but instead to use their discretion and intuition, but I believe that we are all human after all, and there are exceptional cases. To the deciding officer that refused my son, I know that you also have children and if not, then family members that have children and I hope you never have to go through what I am going through as I don't wish it on my worst enemy.  Thank you very much and God bless you.

Yours Faithfully,

Joseph ******** *********.

Dear Stella,

Compliments of the season to you and your entire family. Please hide my Id and my uncle's address.  May God almighty bless you for all you have been doing. Your generation shall be called blessed. You and your family will never lack and the holy spirit will always protect your children. Amen. I am a regular blog visitor , in fact from when you wrote a memo to Jim Iyke and was mad that he had the effrontery to call your house thereby upsetting your children.(LOL)
Anyway, back to the matter. Stella I am very sad at the moment, my uncle just lost his son and he has been inconsolable since the incident happened. Please help use your platform to tell our greedy government to do something about the poor state of the healthcare system in our country Nigeria. How can a country as rich as Nigeria not have good and well equipped competent general hospitals? It is so sad that lives are being wasted daily. What a pity.
My uncle's son was refused a medical visa at the American Embassy because they probably thought he was not a genuine applicant, and it was even a Nigerian that interviewed  him but he\she did not request for his documents to be checked ,this was after his dad had arranged for him to undergo surgery in the states, as his dad resides in the America. After the refusal, his dad wrote the embassy but they said he had to wait for another 3 months before re-applying and it is not mandatory that they ask for documents. See what has happened now. He sent this letter to the embassy after his son died , but they are yet to reply. Na Wa!!! Too sad.
There's also a picture of the boy below. Thanks stella and God bless you.

    1. Sorry about his loss, very sad indeed.
I however think his anger should be directed at the Nigerian government, our corrupt leaders that would rather enrich their pockets with enuf cash to last till their 10th generation than develop an aspect as critical as our health sector.
The American Government is under no obligation to grant visas, they do so based on their discretion, and of course it's not as straight forward as ABC thanks once again to Nigerians that come up with all sort of stories to get a visa just to run away from the hardship inflicted on us by our government.
Other countries should be coming to us for health care and other things,if the resources we have are put to good use by our so called leaders, but greed won't let them.

Once again take heart, it's a huge loss here on earth, but heaven's gain. May his soul rest in peace!

      Delete
    2. Yes, we're all to be blamed. It is high time Nigerians begin to ask questions and make demands from the leaders. We're too complacent in this country, we're waiting for God to come and solve our problems for us meanwhile we seem to have forgotten that God gives us abilities and power to accept whatever we want and reject whatever we don't.

To that extent, we are all collectively responsible for the present state of things in the country.

Our government needs to do something about our healthcare system. If we can get all we need in Nigeria, why would anyone want to leave the comfort of his or her country where you will be respected and appreciated to a place you would be treated like a nobody.

As for the embassy, they need to change their rules. If they can started having people have an undertaking that the person travelling would come back to Nigeria after treatment, that would help.

    1. God bless you, Chikito.

Nigeria is the way it is today not necessarily as a result of the rogues that parade themselves as ''leaders'', but the people do not understand the power they wield. As such they can't put it into effective use.

We need to wisen up. Kids do it. I mean infants. When they are hungry, they make life hellish for you until you give them exactly what they want.

If Nigerians only realise that regardless of ethnic, religion or cultural divide, they all belong to the broad classes "the USER and the USED"..............they would at least come together and demand more than a few crumbs from the table.

RIP, Gabriel. O ma shey o!

    3. It's unfortunate that the average Nigerian seems to be incapable of simple analytical reasoning. I say this with every sense of responsibility.

We fall prey easily to the schemes and tricks of the establishment. When a change is about to take place that they think may not be favorable to them, they just play their overused card of either ethnicity or religion and voila confusion will just break bone in Fela's voice.

I'm a businessman man and a Yoruba and in the course of my business I have interacted severally with the average Igbo and Hausa and also with the Niger Delttans and Middle Belters and I keep wondering why do people believe religion or ethnicity is a problem here because based on my personal experience, if we remove poverty and hunger which by the way is a deliberate creation of the establishment from the life of the average Nigerian, Nigerians are basically pleasant, honest and diligent.

Nigerians let us arise against bad governance, corruption, ineptitude and mediocrity. Poverty, hunger, unemployment etc does not discriminate against religion or ethnicity. Let us demand for a positive change in Nigeria, let's come together and turn things around in this nation. Yes we can do it.

      NIGERIANS ARISE.

It's a pity that the young man is a victim of cicumstance and his death was as a result of our leaders' greed, wickedness and incompetence. And to think most of them travel to other countries regularly and see the way things are done is even the most annoying.

RIP Gabriel, may your blood seek vengeance from d people in power who have refused to do things the right way, putting people's life at risk always.
May God grant his dad the grace to put this behind him. No parent deserves to lose their child as a result of d wickedness of some foolish people.

  73. Anon 7:11pm, this has nothing to do with the American embassy. Our citizens fake medical reports, we are very dubious and now see a young man has suffered for it. The main blame should be on our government. In Nigeria, the facilities and professionals are nothing to write home about. In a country where half of the doctors (no offense) are quacks, or are only sound theory wise, we have no option but to race abroad for healthcare at mind bungling costs. Yet someone will shout GEJ/GMB...2 people who have been in government and still naija is an eye sore.

Rest in peace Temitayo. May God console his poor dad and other family members.

Can this letter be copied to the Dummy in Aso rock?
Temitayo's death is on your conscience.
GEJ and his co-travellers who continue to loot Nigeria's treasury while the youths are perishing daily, will be held accountable sooner or later.

This death, Aisha Falode's son's death and the unnecessary death of countless youths are on your coconut head.

  88. My condolence to the dad! But, instead of blaming America for not granting his son a visa, he should blame Nigeria government, blame civilians that have godfathers in the government, and blame other rouges who have a share in looting the economy. And to the writer whose uncle lost his son, how did you know the interviewer was Nigerian but didn't know the sex of the interviewer?
