NFF Electoral Committee Chairman Sacks Amaju Pinnick

Just one month after a peace deal was brokered between the factions of Chris Giwa and Amaju Pinnick to avoid a FIFA ban, Completesportsnigeria understands that the chairman of the Nigeria Football Electoral Committee, Mr. Okey Ajunwa on Thursday sacked Amaju Pinnick as the president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

On Wednesday, the NFF Electoral Committee upheld the September 30 elections that brought Pinnick to power, but the chairman Ajunwa disassociated himself from that decision. Consequently, in a twist of events today (Thursday), that same elections have now been nullified by the Electoral Committee boss.
Mr Okey Ajunwa, a lawyer, announced the cancellation of the elections, citing an unlawful disqualification of Shehu Dikko who was stopped from contesting the elections in Warri.
Ajunwa who appeared alone on Thursday at a press conference in Abuja, rubbished Wednesday’s ruling that upheld the elections, adding that members of the committee are ignorant of the law.
“None of them is a lawyer, I am the lawyer and I know the law, I have gathered the results of the committee and I will read them out in accordance to FIFA and CAF rules,” Ajunwa said in Abuja.
Ajunwa further stated that: “The Elections of Amaju Pinnick is hereby nullified and he is banned from parading himself as the President of the Nigeria Football Federation.”
According to Ajunwa, a by-election has now been fixed to take place in a neutral venue, which will see a run-off between Dikko and Pinnick.
Dikko was one of the candidates initially cleared for the elections, but was dramatically disqualified at the last minute, and he was held up by the security officials a day before the elections.
In the Ajunwa’s ruling on Thursday, there will now be fresh elections for the following offices in the NFF: Vice president, board members from South East and North East zones.
This newest development will follow the spate of controversies trailing the football federation.

  5. NFF Presidency, creating controversy since 1996. Ask the contenders their vision for Nigeria's Football & all you'll get is mumbo-jumbo. These folks are only interested in the billions $#€£¥ that accrue to the federation, they've no interest in taking our football to the next level.
