Obasanjo's 'My Watch' Opinion On Wole Soyinka.

Hmmm,I dont know the contents of this book from the first page to the last but something tells me this book go be the 'causer' of Controversy when it is out.

''For Wole, no one can be good, nor can anything be spot-on politically except that which emanates from him or is ordained by him, His friends and loved ones will always be right and correct no matter what they do or fail to do.”........

“a misfit as a political analyst, commentator or critic,”

“He is surely a better wine connoisseur and a more successful “aparo” (guinea fowl) hunter than a political critic, not to talk of what he would do as a politician,”

“I take him seriously on almost all issues except on the political particularly Nigerian politics.”

“If I go before him, I will bid him welcome when he arrives at the great beyond. I hope he would do the same if he succeeds in getting there before me and we find ourselves on the same side of the divide.”…

*Baba Iyabo!!!

    1. Not this time. He's not imposing on anyone because he merely put his thoughts into writing. For anyone who's interested to buy and read. No be by force na. Lol.

Wole Soyinka I trust will respond when the time comes. I am certain the man is waiting to read the full texts of the book before he scatter our brains with grammar. Lol. Baba iyabo the old but rugged soldier. I dey hail o. Nothing do you.

    1. Lmao..meaning if they both end in hell or heaven (same side)... then whoever gets there first should welcome the late Comer. But if they end up in opposite sides, leaving one in hell and the other in heaven, it means they'll never get to meet again after here.
So whatever grouse they have should be thrashed NOW before it is too late.... essentially.

  9. Hehe. ...OBJ the troublemaker. ...you just might find yourselves on the same side of the divide indeed....lol @ if he succeeds in getting there before me....oh well, an educated man like the legendary nobel laureate must be a wine connoisseur. ..Intellectuals like him have taste buds only for the good stuff.... I know they are good friends though, and were locked up together....anyway, I need to get me baba's book. who wants to get me that as a Christmas gift?

  13. Hehehehehehehe! Obasanjo is really a handful. He is so correct in Wole's case. Wole Soyinka truly doesn't see anything bad in any corrupt politician he prefers,e.g Rotimi Amechi. He only criticizes d politicians on his bad book. This Obj's book... I tire ooo!

  16. Am with baba iyabo on this one! Stella all he does is talk, perhaps he should share his enlightened ideas of how to make a better nigeria with us rather than criticise the whole world

  17. When it is out?

I thought it's been out for days and sold out.

Wole Soyinka can do no wrong in my eyes. He's not perfect so sometimes, he might get his political analyses wrong. But surely not as much as Baba Iyabo will have us believe.

All in all, Wole Soyinka has more integrity and goodwill than Baba.

  21. Obviously, Uncle Obasanjo really touched every nook and cranny of his life with this book. He must have made a good compilation of his diaries before publishing that book. Can anyone imagine he still mentioned Wole Soyinka in this book? I'm sure the ranting Fayose hasn't been left out. Eheheh. I'l wait till I get a copy tho.

  31. 'My Watch' is vintage Olusegun Obasanjo for anyone who is familiar with his personality - daring, brute yet frank, egocentric, nationalist. When he writes or speaks on issues of national importance, while you may dislike his face, voice or style, you cannot deny the wisdom in some of the things he says. However, I find it strange that a man who has been privileged to be military head of state once and civilian president twice with international connections would be so loud-mouthed - spilling some secrets and betraying the confidence of those who confided in him - with all due respect. However, I expect some form of rebuttal from those directly or indirectly 'fired' in this book. Baba Obasanjo is definitely not having the last word this time around. Already, Gen. Alabi Isima has responded. I expect more.

    1. Abeg i no see any wisdom in this book. Baba Iyabo just like the spotlights. How mamy times he wan release book if no be to cause more tension in the polity. A sane leader will only advice based on current situation not unearthing dead bones to show the garish past. A leader that will not lead by example. He should continue in his ostrich ways.
