Agbaje Versus Ambode 2015

Both are qualified for the job but there can only be one governor of Lagos state

Who would you vote for any why?
I am very interested in who wins Lagos because I am a Lagosian by birth and love that city so much.

This post is just for fun and does not represent the actual winner....

This post is not sponsored.

Leave the parties they represent and look at their faces if you know nothing about them...

If you walked into a polling booth to cast your vote for Governor of Lagos state 2015,whom would you vote for and why?

WHY?

  2. I don't see what Agbaje has go offer Lagos, he is a pharmacy who didn't even distinguish himself in his field , it's not about moving from party to party year after year. So na Ambode get my vote

    1. I really hope and wish APC loses in Lagos, my area Ikotun was totally abandoned in the past 4 years. The roads are almost immotorable, the traffic in that axis is off the chain. We need change their. I will rather gamble with Agbaje for the chance for change.

  4. The CV released by Ambode impressed me and tells me he is capable of taking Lagos even higher. Agbaje has refused to release his CV so nothing for me to judge by. Ambode has my vote

  8. I haven't made up my mind but I'm leaning towards Ambode. Fashola even said he is sure Ambode will do better than him so for me that's a good testimony

  9. I visited for Ambode.

While Jimi also has a good educational and work background, Ambode adds an impeccable public service record to his sterling educational qualifications. The records are there. He is instrumental to lagos state's enviable internally generated revenue. As a result of its IGR, Lagos state is the only state in Nigeria that can exist without federal allocation from Abuja. Imagine what he will do when he's in charge proper.

Jimi might have good plans but he's likely to waste a lot of time learning the ropes because he's always been a private sector person. Lagos state cannot afford that time wasting.

Ambode also has the added advantage of being from the same performing- block as the incumbent, my mentor Fashola. He has always been an insider and will hit the ground running.

With these few points of mine, I hope I have been able to convince you, but not to confuse you that Ambode is better than Jimmy boy. Thank you *courtesying and wiping my skirt*

    5. Hmmmm technocrats vs ardent politicians.

Jim Agbaje and Fashola are unrepentant technocrats. While Ambode is a trained, or shall I say one who served under, and also watched his principals play to the gallery of formidable grassroot politics.

An imbibed experience for Ambode, which his superiors are solely reliant on to help him serve as a governor come 2015. Hmmm

Agbaje, if chosen, would be like Fashola wth his administrative skills.

Truth is both their resumes isn't a guarantee that they'll do well on the job. Yes sound intellect is a bonus, but sadly in Nigeria it is not a prerequisite in any political exercise. Otherwise some people who hold key positions today shouldn't be within the corridor of power.

With a city like lagos, educational background may take a back seat when faced with surmounting pressures from all and sundry. Ask Fashola wetin him eye see, he was just methodical enough to overcome those pressures.

Tinubu was a governor and he doesn't have half their qualifications. Yet He ran that office ruggedly like a street man, and I think it worked for him.

Am I advocating we do not seek that ONLY learned people be admitted into public service? NO. I am for resumes like Ambode's and Agbaje's. BUT.....
      Anyway I don tire.

      Btw, well revised @GS

    6. @Sisi eko Fashola was part of the kitchen cabinet during Tinubu's era so he was already involved in politics. Education is a major factor in governance as Fashola showed us what it is to have brains. Tinubu is well educated, you need to look-up his cv to see his wealth of work experience both in public sector and private. I will go for Ambode over Agbaje

  12. So yo were born in Lagos. Me I'm going with continuity , I love the way Fashola is already going everywhere with Ambode and campaigning for him. When Ambode wins by Gods Grace one can be sure he will build on the work already done and that is what Lagos needs

Dear BVs, whenever you are bored,
Take a little out your precious time,
Naked and with all your might,
    Start talking to God.
Tell him to ruin completely, the lives of those wrecking this country.
Tell Him to destroy them and their families.
Tell Him to grind Boko Haram.and their sponsors no matter who it may be.
This might sound funny but i have been doing it for the past three days.
Please do this. Pray for this country.
All these problems may not be affecting you now but one day, it might.
Before it does, let's join our hands and pray for this country.
    I hate all these happenings.

Do you know how many families, children that have been thrown into sorrow because of d wickedness and evil acts some people dished out to their loved ones? Some kids are now orphans cos they lost both parents in a blast, some parents have been rendered barren/childless in their old age bcos their child(ren) were killed in a blast(like d case of a woman who lost her ONLY CHILD to d Nyanyan bomb blast),some men are now widowers and some women became widows too, some families have been displaced from their homes and have become wanderers and refugees in another land, some have become disabled.....what about those kidnapped girls....arent they people's daughters, sisters, nieces too?
So my dear, Sunshine is very right if her prayers for vegeance cuts across the families of the evil doers(i pray such prayers too). They also need to have a taste of what they dish out to others.

  48. Interestingly the 2015 election will experience NON violence in lagos state i.e. if the rulling party want it. Am not a partisan politician, but i follow the trend as it goes. Really, this man of Jimi Agbaje, in the grass root has been tagged a good guy for that post of governor too, (since his debate with The present Governor Fashola) when they were preparing for the election then. In fact, you will see that out of all contenders, it was Mr. Jimi Agbaje that a lot of people were talking about. But then He was not in a right or i can say a powerful party in lagos. BUT NOW that he has come on Board and Governor Fashola is moving out in few months time. I think this man will be the right person. NOW EVERYONE HAVE OPENED THEIR EYES. THEY ARE VOTING FOR PERSONALTY NOW NOT PARTY OO O O O. Lets wait and see, if there wont be direct and or indirect lurring or rigging. The right peoples choice will emerged in 2015 for Lagos Gov. 2. Ok, 'concerned...... in the dark days of ABACHA regime'. Do u know Bode George was one of the proponents and was in d fore front of Abacha for President? I was very young den but I can remember dt tv program airing chief Bode George, Jimi's God father telling Nigerians to support Abacha. I'm sorry I really like Agbaje, but Bode behind him is a no-no. Bode is an AGIP(any government in power), he has no ideals. Tinubu bad as he bad was a staunch supporter of NADECO, those were those who fought for democracy and won. Bode has no qualms about anything so long as it pays him, Tinubu on d oda hand may nt b a saint but still has ideals to envy. I support Tinubu and apologize for dis epistle.

"If there is one wholesome reason Agbaje should be sitting pretty in Alausa, next May, it is because, he had never been called a thief before...Agbaje stands very clean in public life. Now, Akinwumi stands, called a THIEF.. It would be tough to call Agbaje a thief. He never held any of these juicy offices before..
Ambode, on the other hand, had been in the civil service for decades. When you have been around for that long, you must be the worst kind of unrepentant felon, to deny your hand was in the public till in Nigeria. We safely pronounce Akinwumi Ambode a Hophni, but we slack, compared to Fashola, who fired him for huge frauds.
And Fashola did not sack Ambode on the grounds of a governor’s righteousness, because, Fashola himself has trouble keeping his fingers from the public till. Fashola hates Ambode’s guts because the chap is a thief, yes, but more than that, there is this rivalry you find among Tinubu’s trainees, and tools. To be sure, Tinubu himself encourages the rivalry the way a deft-handed puppeteer and mastermind handles his craft.
Fashola was at loggerheads with Tinubu for a long time over the succession issue. His main slogan was “anybody else but Ambode”. How long Fashola would remain cowed is another topic. He kept rolling out his reel of naivety by hoping he could have a tiny say in who the successor would be. He moved from that failure to the hope for a VP ticket and failed again. We will rip Fashola open one day to see what lies inside this Bourdillon messenger, who wants to challenge his boss with sheer posturing.
Fashola caught Ambode’s hand in the till and wanted to sack him shamefully. He developed cold feet at the instance of Bourdillon’s protection. “Okay” said Bourdillon, “He truly stole these billions, but we could ill afford to wash APC’s linen in the sun.please, let him resign honorably”. So Ambode, the brilliant bandit escaped, and is now programmed for a greater opportunity to finish the job of finishing Lagos off. There was rivalry, but there was also the kind of theft which stings the nostrils of other thieves. Ambode’s exploits in Alausa stung Fashola’s nostril...
These newts learn nothing from Tinubu, which is why they develop high blood pressure every time Lagos opens for a governor. They want to worm their way into his heart. Error! The man has no heart, which is why he loots and grabs the way he does with a great deal of success..
Ambode rounded up accountants and finance workers in Alausa, ostensibly for a refresher course or retreat trip to South-Africa. It was at a time Obasanjo’s hound (efcc) was sniffing Tinubu’s blood. The noose was close. Glasses were clinking in Aso Rock. It was premature celebration. Obasanjo, like the tank, is not such a smart fighter. He underestimated Tinubu. If anything told us that Obasanjo’s military prowess was a tall-tale, it was the white washing Tinubu gave him in Lagos, all those years. Obasanjo did not meet a match in Tinubu (that would be an insult), he met a master.
How did anyone who read Tinubu right, not think for once that the man bought heavily into the efcc. Of course, he got information before Obasanjo did. He was way ahead of grandstanders. He only indulged in that, a few months after the job was done. He learnt of the onslaught from Ribadu’s main men. The computers were cleaner than whistles by the time efcc came calling. Who did they think they were after? Yahoo boys?
By the time Ambode returned from SA with the heavily padded accountants, the fog covering the case was heavier than harmattan haze at its December peak. Well, that was when the weather and sanity walked together.
Ambode scored heavy when he sprang Tinubu (not necessarily from jail), but from a huge shame which could have kept him from open politics the rest of his life. These people do not jail each other for simply stealing public money. You had to have done more than that. A chip off the old block, that was the moment Tinubu found his next governor."

It makes Agbaje sound naive, so d question dt comes to mind is, he has nt been there b4, who knows hw much he will steal if he gets there esp wit a pdp background? Now, u make Ambode sound like a very gudt bad guy. Truth is he sounds interesting and most Nigerians are nt totally against corruption Dats bcos almost all of us are corrupt at one level or d oda, so somewhr in our minds we are willing to bend d rule whn it suits us. Do nt b surprised dt if d same allegations were levelled against anoda say Koro for instance, it wud b a really big deal.

President Jonathan is very determined to impose people of questionable character as powerful figures in the SW. Bode George of all people now wants to call the shots in Lagos. God forbid. Apologies to Jimi Agbaje bu he is in the wrong party and just buried his political career in this wrong crowd. Jimi Agbaje will lose by a land slide.

    1. To everyone criticizing Jimi Agbaje, I guess not much is known about him hence the criticisms. In addition to founding Jay-Kay pharmaceuticals Jimi is also a founding shareholder of guarantee trust bank. For those who do not understand what that means, loosely translated, it means Jimi was one of those who put his money down and in addition convinced his father(a banker of great repute) for his(Jimi's Father's) name to be used in securing GTBs Banking license. The late Tayo Aderinokun and Fola Adeola were professionals who were relatively unknown as at then. Till today the Agbaje's maintain a sizable shareholding stake in Gtb. He also turned down an executive directorship position for his investment and efforts and instead had his younger brother who was a banking professional brought into the bank in his stead while he played an advisory role. That shows you the kind of man he is as GTB is one of the top 5 banks in Nigeria today. He was a big part of building that brand.
Also in 2007, when tinubu had issues with Fashola and it appeared Fashola was more or less headed to Labour due to Tinubu's unwavering attitude, Agbaje was approached and offered the A.C.N Governorship ticket on a platter of gold, he being the only man who in their calculations could defeat Fashola having done it before at the channels television debate. Guess what he did, he refused to sign their Bourdillion agreements and declined the ticket on a moral basis. He told them he wasn't that desperate to govern lagos and that he recognized the fact that Fashola had done well and should be allowed to go for a second term, and he wouldn't allow himself to be used as a tool to block that. It was based on that refusal that A.C.N ran back to patch things up with Fashola. Now do you really think a man like that would be subservient to Bode george? check Jimi's clique of friends, you have professionals like otedola, the adeolas, Adenuga, Majekodunmis, Ovia, Sunmonu, e.t.c all of them are professionals. Do you really think it'd be difficult for him to put together a competent team of technocrats to move Lagos to the promised land?
To everyone making so much noise about the wrong party, please tell me, what party is the right party? is it A.P.C where Tinubu would never allow an independent minded man like Jimi to emerge? Or Labour which has no structures on ground? In PDP independent minded men thrive, that is why you have Governors like Akpabio and Chime, while people like obong attah and Nnamani lick their wounds(Bode George's eventual fate).
Agbaje made his billions in the private sector, slaving hard and working hard, he has some public sector experience having sat on LASG hospital management board before...and doesn't have the conditioned mentality of the civil service to steal money and share like Ambode does. He is also not as desperate as ambode to clinch the office(google ambode's indigeneship fiasco)
Ambode has that civil service mentality and came out of the civil service with over 20 billion naira to his name. The offence for which Fashola almost sacked him before Tinubu asked for a soft landing for him? Underreporting Lagos state's IGR and sharing the balance with his boss Tinubu. Fashola would've worked more were tinubu not in the picture and mind you fashola had private sector experience. Ambode is just like Jonathan, he's been in the civil service all his life. That kind of experience doesn't count in governance. He would run an elitist government. Ashafa was rewarded for Land fraud with senatorial slot. Ambode is being rewarded for IGR fraud with Governorship slot.
Vote out Tinubu and his acolytes. Seize lagos back for lagosians. Vote Agbaje. Vote change.
