I'm still shocked that none of his so called colleagues even knew what he was going through now they wana mourn him.
Have they paid a visit to his family members to comfort them and make financial contributions where necessary?
Fake industry filled with fake friends. May God forgive all of you who call Muna your friends but couldn't be there for him when he needed you the most.

People b just running their mouths n fingers. How on earth will u think none of them ve visited since yesterday when d news broke. Btw, re we all saying they shouldn't mourn him? Na wa o.

    3. As sad as this news, from what those who should know are saying ..is that he didn't inform anyone because he was a private person. So they couldn't have known.

Even if they did and were able to raise some money for him, whatever will happen would still happen. This reminds me of Chaz B who had all the resources and the wherewithal to treat himself of the same kidney problem, his wife even donated her kidney and he recuperated and was fine. But alas, he died all the same a little while after. So really, destiny will take its course no matter what. So sad the young man died in silence but no one should be blamed for it. Not even he who chose to maintain status quo should be blamed.

  16. It's normal to cause ripples among them, cos I want to believe nobody saw this coming. If he had been sick for a while, most people were not aware of it. And also no one heard of any plea for help. Even as I de here so, the thing affect me to my bones, not like I have ever met him before, but because he seemed a likable person. Maybe he didn't feel like asking people to solicit for him and wanted to do it all alone, but alas...

If only Muna asked for assistance, some deaths are very much avoidable..
In some Hospitals,Haemodialysis/Dialysis cost as high as 250K per week..Dialysis is carried out thrice a week, this stage prepare the customer for a Transplant.I think he wasn't regular with Dialysis due to the heavy cost...May God Bless his soul.
Countries like Botswana,Mozambique & the CRC do not collect a dime for dialysis.

Terminal Diseases such as Cancer,Kidney Nephritis,Liver Cihorsis should be taken serious in our Country.

    1. Hmmmmm your message carries weight and has struck a big point.
In a country where we have a government, yet citizens die like chickens. Why is there no proper health care system? Why should dialysis cost 250k per week.

In every situation that happens there is always a lesson or two to learn from it.In as much as this came as a shock let's learn something from it.Please let's all start to eat healthy, reduce our sugar intake, take more of water than sugry drinks, excersise frome time to time, see a doctor once in a while for check ups, don't wait till you are ill and most importantly when we truly need help, please cry out for help, because you never can tell where that help will come from. And please please please reduce the alchol intake and smoking if you can't stop it completely.RIP muna, may God be with you wife, kids, friends and family.

  60. New facts emerge on Muna Obiekwe's death :(

A new report detailing how Muna Obiekwe actually died has surfaced online.

In a chat with ICampus, actress Vera Kanu who was a mother figure to the late actor, disclosed that he discovered his kidney problem a long time ago but like most people, he thought he could manage it.
According to her, he ignored the pain and continued working without paying much attention. He only took his drugs and medication once in a while as ‘Muna never believed the ailment could lead to his death. He believed he would survive it like he did the gunshot and death of his parents. He was not a man given to worrying about things. He believed it was not a coincidence his parents named him Munachimso, a name which means God is walking with me.’
The kidney problem persisted and Muna was eventually forced to seek the help of a doctor in a Lagos. The doctor gave him a ray of hope. He assured Muna that his worst fear of Kidney transplant might not happen if only he could do up to 20 dialyses.
“I was with him to the last hour. He was to do up to 20 dialyses; the doctor said if the dialysis improved his condition, the worse would certainly be over. He will be okay only if he stays away from alcohol but you know our artiste,” she concluded.
Another source told the online news portal that “the dialysis was expensive for Muna. He was doing two in a week sometimes. And he would need blood injection on each occasion. Each appointment was costing him between N250, 000 to N300, 000; money he did not really have to spend. His health was eating deep into his purse yet Muna refused to go cap in hand begging for alms. He was a private guy who didn’t want the press or his colleagues to feast on his pain, and cast aspersions on Nollywood’s industry of beggars’.
Vera, his godmother corroborated the point. “He was managing it on his own. As a matter of fact, he has been managing it for a while until Ejiro Okurame and I came on board to help. We were combining resources to help him but there was very little we could do to save him. We had to enlist the help of Patience Ozokwor and Kanayo O. Kanayo (KOK) at a point. They rendered the help they could until he died.
“The guy was private. He kept to himself a lot and most importantly, kept his private life private; for instance, many people did not even know he was married with two children. Such was his life. He didn’t want press or his colleagues to start prying. He was particularly afraid of the press, hence his shutting his colleagues out of his pain. He knew if some Nollywood people got to know about it, the press would also get to know. He refused to beg to save Nollywood’s image, he in-turn, lost himself.”
Further more, it was reported that he was a chain smoker and heavy drinker. Despite his condition, it was revealed he was still consuming alcohol on a regular basis.
“Everybody in the industry knows Muna drinks a lot; even when he’s shooting in the North, he has a way of finding alcohol. He fell into it, after he lost his parents in a ghastly motor accident. ‘As a matter of fact, he was supposed to be in that car with them but by stroke of luck, he wasn’t and was spared. Afterwards, Muna took solace in liquor but that never affected his job. He was just like Sam Loco; he could drink the whole sea but when he hears the director shout ‘action,’ he gets into character. Muna was a method character despite his flaws’’ a source tod the online portal.
Speaking on the drinking habit despite his ailment, his godmother, Vera Kanu said ‘It’s not like he drinks heavily like you guys said. He drank but not as you are putting it. Muna even called me during the holiday that he is now okay and ready to work so I should start bringing jobs because I was his producer. I told him thank God and that I would start as long as he does not do what the doctor told him not to do, which was drinking. The problem came back and he has been on it since then till he died.”
    May his soul rest.

@LibraChic- You are right. veeery right. Healthy eating habits can save us a lot. If only we knew.... Anyone heard or vegan diet? It cures ALOT of ailments. Let's live healthy lives. Less drinking (if you cant do without) and smoking too. Late night eating, heavy starch and carbs, too much palm oil and high cholesterol foods should be avoided. Even unhealthy frying oil. Roasting and bbq is the best. When we tell Nigerians, they make it look like we are promoting oyibo food.
Okra, Green pumpkin leave, Ugwu are very healthy native foods we have.
Our forefathers used to eat akpu and fufu and starch but they used to do heavy work too, remember! They were farmers, long distance trekkers and labourers, herdsmen and all that. These days, we sit in the car/bus, in the office, we don't do manual labour. SO we can't compare our eating habits to theirs and say we will live long because they did. Their lifestyle never gave room for stored up fat and toxins, but ours is different. Please let's live wisely.

If we had good regulatory bodies in Nigeria, there should be nutrition regulation and strict supervision for less starchy food, like its done in other countries.

All said, RIP Muna. I understand the kind of person he is, from what has been said. He was a private person who was used to handling stuff on his own, maybe out of pride. Even I can be like that sometimes. It is well.
