Ogun Governorship Candidate Becomes Incoherent At Public Debate‏

A mild drama occurred on Tuesday at the political debate organised by the Committee for Defence of Human Rights, CDHR, Ogun State Chapter, for governorship candidates, as one of the contenders found it difficult to boldly face the public and attend to questions.

The debate which took place at DLK hall in Abeokuta, exposed the shy side of the governorship Candidate of Mega Progressive Peoples Party, Iyabo Ogunmefun, who found it difficult to face the audience.

Ms. Ogunmefun became apparently jittery when given a question and handed a microphone, resulting into uncontrollable laughter from the public, with many of them describing her as a clown.

When the organisers noticed she was not fluent in her English presentation, the MPPP candidate was given the opportunity to address the audience in her mother tongue, Yoruba.

Ironically, she faced the same challenge of not being able to face the crowd.

Meanwhile, the governorship candidates who appeared for the debate include: Gboyega Isiaka(PDP)
 Abolaji Sunmola(LP)
Benjamin Onafadeji(NCP)
Eyiowuawi Razaq(PPN)
Olufowobi Adebayo(KOWA)
Olawoyin Solomon(CPP)
 Iyabode Ogunmefun(MPPP)-

    6. Clown is right! Only in Nigeria tho where illiterates have the guts to contest for public offices. Because the citizens actually do not give a fuck. We think we do but our actions say otherwise .

I won't be surprised if this woman wins whatever it is she contesting for. After all, all it takes to get elected in Nigerian politics is knowing and bribing the right people.

    7. Advice to politicians and intending politicians- Be formally educated! Make conscious efforts to build your self esteem, practice and be good at public speaking. There are tonnes of books on that.

Get a coach if you must!

Do whatever it takes to prevent you from looking like a damn fool!

I believe Jonathan and cohorts would thank me for this advice.

They shouldn't mention tho. What are frustrated citizens for?

However if she is trying to get the highest seat of a state I.e Governorship then she should know that public speaking is key...not just embezzling

  37. Eyahhhhh I feel so sorry for her. That's one thing our educational system needs to inculcate in the system. These things need to be taught from elementary school, as it builds your confidence. I remember when we had presentation in school, OMG! All those noise makers became mute when it got to their turn...TF! Some people were so jittery you'd fall off your seats laughing....It was AMAZING!!! I used to be jittery, but being in a country where all your courses have mandatory presentation, it gets better, it becomes a part of you, and you are more relaxed.

  45. Addressing crowds happens to be my thing. Nothing thrills me more than it. If she is too shy to talk to her own people then she has no business campaigning to be their Governor . The next time she faces such a challenge, she should just tell herself that nobody in that crowd can actually come up and beat her physically no matter what she says. The worst the crowd can do is boo and booing should be the least of any public speaker's concerns. I wish her better luck next time.
