Uduaghan Seeks Diaspora's Support For Delta's Economy

The Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, has appealed to Deltans in the diaspora to support his administration's effort at developing every facet of the economy of the state.

Governor Uduaghan spoke on Thursday at an interactive session between the Peoples Democratic Party governorship flag bearer, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, and prominent Deltans and friends of the state resident in Lagos.

The event took place at the newly built governor's lodge.
Uduaghan told the gathering that every aspect of the state's economy was expanding rapidly but needed the support of entrepreneurs of the state's origin resident in Lagos.
Dr. Uduaghan appealed to Deltans to impress it on their foreign business partners to invest in the state to reduce unemployment, which is the goal of his Delta Beyond Oil Economic Development Model.

Speaking on the forthcoming elections, Governor Uduaghan said Senator Okowa's emergence as the PDP governorship candidate was good for the state, adding that the Delta State PDP was working hard to ensure victory for President Goodluck Jonathan and Okowa.

On the new governor's lodge, he explained that the old lodge was demolished and a befitting new one was built to give a befitting image to the state.
Senator Okowa in his remarks assured the gathering that he will partner with the private sector to consolidate on the investment gains of the Uduaghan administration.

He solicited the support of entrepreneurs of the state's origin to buy into the Delta Beyond Oil initiative, promising that his administration will continue with the Warri Industrial Park as well as develop agricultural business parks to exploit the state's vast agricultural potentials.

Senator Okowa promised to advance health care through a comprehensive health insurance package for the state, stressing that youth employment challenge will be addressed through skill training while also ensuring urban renewal.

The state Commissioner for Information, Barrister Chike Ogeah, in his welcome address, explained that the dinner was to enable critical stakeholders to interact with Okowa.

  18. I cannot pretend to be in support of this Governor as I consider that he failed woefully as a Governor.

While it may appear that he developed the Warri envrions of Delta State, the other side of the state felt no impact of his rule.

I am fromthe ibo speaking area of Delta state and he did nothing for towns and communities in those areas.

There was no employment during his tenure and what little there was, was hi-jacked by his cabinet members and given out as favours to selected few. As for pensions and gratuity, he owes many retired civil servants as far back as after two/three years of retirement. My mother is a victim of this.

So, while there might be some who sing his praise because they and their communities were favoured, I do not. And as a Governor of a state, he was meant not just to represent his own people but all the people.

So, Uduaghan should just shut teh eff-word up and get out already!

  19. Please start by putting hand dryers or towels in Asaba airport's toilets! As of 2 mths ago, nothing!!! Also there needs to be a demarcation between the men and women's toilets. It's the same entrance and no door separates the 2 areas!! Ridiculous!! That's how a lady can get raped!
