A young lady, Miss Grace Ebiloma, who was on her way from a vigil was gang-raped by hoodlums in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.
The lady was on her way home from the church when the hoodlums seized her and dragged her into the bush where they raped her.
According to a statement by the evangelist Enechojo Agene of Uleju Ojo Power House Ministry, the lady had gone to a nearby structure opposite the church to rest after the vigil, when the hoodlums struck, raping and killing her.
The staement said that the hoodlums raped her to death, stressing that the body of the victim was recovered from the bush after a search was conducted.
Envangelist Agene described the action of the hoodlums as heinous, calling on God in heaven to visit vengeance on the perpetrators of this gruesome act.
Agene also called on security operatives to intensify efforts at bringing the hoodlums to book, noting that those who perpetrated the crime should go unpunished.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Elvis Aguebor, said that the matter had not been reported to the state headquarters of the command.

Why start a vigil by 10pm or 12am, only to close by 3 to 4am. Instead of 6am? And it is meant for those who have no early morning duties the next day.
Why go pray for blessings and protection, when you can bless your life with a cautious protection?

ReplyDeleteThat state Kogi invokes a lot of horrible feelings in me. 5yrs ago my childhood friend boarded a bus from Zuba Abj to the new federal university in Ajaokuta for post UME test. She kept communicating with her dad until she got to Lokoja, that was the last time he heard from her, he kept trying to reach her throughout the rest of the day, no way. He became worried after two days without reaching her, he decided to go look for her, she didn't even reach the school as there was no record of her sitting for the test. One month later a man picked her call and warned her dad not to ever call 'this number' again. All efforts by the authorities to find her has been futile.
How broken her parents are, can only be imagined.
Becky wherever you are, I just we will have closure. It's like being caught between slim hope and hopelessness, but as the years go by one is tilted towards the latter. Hmmm!
