Missing Nigerian Student Ozi Akerele Uk Update.

I got this mail last night and didnt sleep the whole night cos i kept thinking what Ozi's mum is going through. She is presently in the UK waiting until her son is found before she returns to Nigeria.

The mail says

''Hi Stella,

Many Thanks from our family For including our search for Ozi in your blog previously. There isn't any joy as to his whereabouts as yet. I would like for you to once again ‎publish this new update. Bellow is the news update link where you can see the last cctv footages. We the family continue to believe in God for his safe return.

May I add that, the Nigeria embassy in uk only agreed to send a man to Coventry with us once after we made series of contact‎ with them and they weren't interested. Not until Ozi's mom physically went to the Nigeria house Uk, Did they accord her this 1time privilege. After that one time, they have neither called the Family nor have they shown any Further interest. This is why we Nigerians question what privileges we are entitled to as a citizen of that country (both home and abroad). Nigerian embassy made us feel like were begging for them to log the incident on There records.

I imagine what will the British government's role Be if ‎a citizen goes missing in Nigeria. There will surely be a media frenzy and daily government explanations from the Nigerian government to the uk.

Sorry for the long mail. Can give more Details later. In the meantime help continue praying for Ozi's safe return''.

According to Conventry telegraph
Ozi Akerele, aged 24, of Richmond Street, Stoke, Coventry, is missing. He's a Nigerian student who has only been in the city for a few weeks.
Stretches of canals in Coventry are now being searched by police looking for a missing student who hasn’t been seen in over a month.
A spokesman for Coventry Police said the tactic wasn’t as a result of new information, but forms part of “routine inquiries” because Ozi Akerele was last seen near a canal.
The 24-year-old, who had only been in Coventry for a few days after coming to the city to start a course at Coventry University, was last spotted in Old Church Road,Foleshill, on January 31.
The road crosses the Coventry Canal.
Ozi, originally from the Nigerian capital city Abuja, has been missing since he went on a night out with friends.
He left a nightclub and instead of returning home to Richmond Street in Stoke he took a wrong turn and started walking up Foleshill Road.
Ozi was last seen around the top of Foleshill Road where he flagged down motorists

Efforts are continuing to track down Ozi, with police and the university publicising his disappearance.
Recently Coventry University asked for help finding the person who handed in Ozi’s access card 21 days after he went missing.
It’s understood that the discovery isn’t forming part of the police inquiry.

The university has come under fire from some students for not doing enough to find the Nigerian student – with some saying that emails have only just sent out asking for information.

In response to the claims made on Facebook a spokesman for the university responded by saying: “We care a great deal about the safety of our students, and that you feel you’re being kept informed about the wellbeing of fellow students – but it is important that everything we do is in close cooperation with the authorities to make sure information being released publicly is an accurate reflection of a developing police investigation.

“As we speak we’re doing our utmost to spread the word and raise awareness of Ozi’s disappearance, including posters and flyers across campus, emails to all students and shout-outs at the start of lectures.
“We’ll continue to do this in collaboration with the police and the students’ union for the foreseeable future.”

Anyone with information should call 101.

*Deep sigh*
OZI WHERE IN HEAVENS NAME ARE YOU?Your mum hurts and her eyes are all swollen from crying for you.

    1. I was just telling my sister about this case less than an hr ago, i live in Bristol and one 16yr old girl went missing here on feb 19, they totally shut down every media outlet with news of this girl's disappearance and was able to find her in just under a week although sadly dead.
However this boy's story has received little or no media coverage at allll...everyday i go on bbc and look for update on this boy and since 27th Feb there has been no news story about this boy, no one is remembering, simply because he is not white....later they will say there is no racism.
May God keep his mom and family strong thats all, here in the UK if someone is missing for over 48hrs the police automatically starts looking for a body, but there can always be miracles.

    5. Oh what a sad story.

This is what get should be engaging the UK about, on how best to search for this young lad. Not the pleading for clemency on behalf of drug barons. Kmt

Aisha Falode's case is still hanging. Gosh

  2. This is heartbreaking.

I pray God leads this young man home.

Am I surprised at the Nigerian Embassy's nonchalant attitude towards this poor family's plight? Of course not.

The Nigerian government has no regard for its citizens both within and outside Nigeria.

Imagine a British student missing in Nigeria?

    2. Same thing I'm thinking,Nigerian will never Learn, it's a new place, new weather (the cold na die), you get here and start clubbing, a place you don't know, if you go stick together, go in group...He was probably drunk and left the club, his frnds didn't notice or didn't care, didn't realise he was missing until later.
Hide yourself, I got to the uk and in abt 3wks or so, dem say basket mouth show very far from where I am, I refuse to go, cos how will I come back?do I know my way around? These whites are so wicked, they may even see him falling in the drench and walk past him afterall he's black, by 7am in the morning were pple not passing to work?So noone saw him, even the police can't find him?
If He was british or American, he would have been found, but they know how nigerians behave, always partying every night, so they would rather let us waste!!

      Come back Ozi,#PrayerForOzi#...

  41. It is terrible that the university took long to react. After collecting his fees they just forgot about him. Nigerians should stand up and start making changes. Since the government does not care for his people no one else in the world feels they should either. What a sad situation. May he be found soon.

  56. I feel you ma Ozi .
Be strong for your other kid/kids and ready for the end result whether good or bad .I pray for bittersweet ending in Jesus name .

Now , he went clubbing with friends , took a wrong turn , was last seen flagging down cars.
Okay , I THINK he was set up by a person or group of people .
Madam , ask for the video RIGHT INSIDE THE CLUB NOT OUTSIDE .
I've this feeling that he might have hit or show interest about someone (girl) and the boyfriend set him up .
Check if anyone slipped any piece of paper to him or exchange phone numbers .
Contact his service provider to check his calls, messages ,Facebook and email address a week before he was last seen in case a meeting was arranged to take place at that club .
Question the FRIENDS that took him clubbing , if possible , use the lie detector .

Check the last signal from his service provider to pinpoint his last known location and check if anyone contacted him within that area.
    get a PI .
Search his room , computer ,bank statement and roommates .
Check if he was about buying something on line , what he was trying to buy , spread your search and see if he was planning or meeting anyone that sells gun ,you never can tell if he felt he need one for protection .
I believe the video from the club and phone will shade a little light of what happened .
Don't bank on the cops because the case will go cold .
And lastly, pull yourself together mommy if you're reading this . I know it's not easy .
Do you believe in miracles mommy ?
I do mom, BELIEVE . I pray he's held up somewhere and will reunite with you soon .
Whatever happens , please be strong. You and Ozi are no longer alone , He'll be back in one piece .
Do you remember the guy that locked up 3 girls for more than 20 years or so till one of them finally escaped and set the rest free ?
Remember people gave up and declared them dead .
Ozi will be back to you mommy .
I'm really sorry you're going through this .
BE STRONG AND PREPARED FOR ANYTHING .

  61. Nigerians pls sit up and stop blaming everyone else for you problems.....do you know what that girls family did to push the police to act? I shuttle naija and the uk so I know how some things work...sometimes the system is just lazy till you make noise to be heard....you as a Nigerian how many of you have carried the boys matter on your head? What have you tone as an individual to help in looking for this boy? If you all gather and go to the media house even one day things will change....nobody will drink Panadol for your headache..sometimes even the oyibo people themselves have to go the extra mile to be heard..
...and pls stop lying, whites are not wicked...the same way you have very wicked people in naija that is how u have wicked oyibos...some Nigerians are very lawless and expect everything to be solved with " I beg sir" " I am from your village" there are rules here and you are expected to do things the right way......i am not saying there is no racism out here but I have equally met amazing white people who were friendly and have helped in one way or the other.....
