Nigerian Young Professionals Support Families of Nigerian Fallen Heroes.

At “An Evening with the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on Sunday night in Lagos, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR was presented with an Heritage Bank’s Cheque of N10 Million Naira by Mr Moses Siloko Siasia (Chairman, NYPF) on behalf of the Nigerian Young Professionals to support families of Fallen Hero’s and identify with the Nation’s Armed Forces at this time of frequent attacks by the insurgent.

In a bid to further enlighten young people on the need to cast a vote for the right candidate in the 2015 Nigeria general elections, the Nigerian Young Professional Forum held an interactive session with President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in Lagos at the Prestigious Eko Hotels and Suite.

The event which was tagged “Making an Informed Decision Ahead of the General Elections” had Ali Baba set the ball rolling. Nigerian Young Professionals in the UK and USA streamed live to the event, enabling them to contribute and directly ask President Jonathan questions as it affects Young Professionals in Nigeria and in the diaspora.

Mr. Siasia charged young professionals to vote wisely as the event was an avenue to declare our position as we throw our weight behind President Jonathan re-election bid. Adding that we are privileged to be living at a time when the range of opportunities open to young people is greater than ever.

“It is a time when we can truly benefit from establishing links with each other to develop an effective professional network to positively impact on our country”.
President Jonathan on his part promised that he will continue to encourage young people in their businesses, educational pursuits and other areas of endeavour thereby empowering  them to be able to take up positions at all levels.

The President was responding to a question on his plans for young Nigerians, especially below the age of 40. He said that young people were very important and needed to be encouraged to maximise their potential. President Jonathan promised that in the next four years, if given the mandate, he would continue to build on the gains of the last four years and improve the lives of the young Nigerians.

According to him, his Administration has just sworn in one of the youngest Nigerian ministers and will give the young people more of such appointments. He said as a Nation, the country must prepare for its future by investing in the young people. We must work hard and encourage the young people,’’ he said.
The President also promised to intensify the fight against corruption and ensure that the problem of stigmatisation of Nigerians became a thing of the past over the next four years. He also talked about his fight against corruption using technology like the Integrated Personnel & Payroll Information System (IPPIS) and promised to clear corruption through such innovative measures in the oil & Gas industry.

President Jonathan expressed appreciation to the young professionals that joined the event online reminding them that they are ambassadors of Nigeria and should conduct themselves in the best possible way.

  11. Please Mr. president should stop all this talks and tell us his action plan. Why does he keep telling us what we know? Is it today that we know that the youth are the future? How have you developed the educational system? What systems have you put in place to absorb the students who have gone abroad to study and tap the goodness of the white man land? What collaborations are you making sure are happening to ensure that the firms and schools are working together to develop new technology, even the primary and secondary schools, have you granted access to good and standard ones for children who can't afford it. Please give us a break with the things you keep telling us. We don't want definitions, I don't want definitions, I want actionable plans and you sticking to sticking to your words if you do get on board for a second term. Frankly speaking, I don't care about who becomes the president, I care about what the person has in mind for Nigeria. Mediocrity is the order of the day in that country. I weep!!!!!
    Mary!!!

  17. Commendable. These guys apparently have faith their candidate will ensure the money gets to the right people. I wonder if the Buhari enthusiasts can say the same. buha_haaaaahahahaha even bu_garri no go trickle down from that military cavemans pocket. In the race we face ahead, I ask you between the two candidates in their imperfections who is better. I pick GEJ because he listens at least and has been making changes although slow to react. And the bible says that is also a good thing no offense to the muslims reading. But all I've heard from the opposition is nice wishful plans doled out more often by everyone else around their presidential candidate but the man himself. Clearly he has no clue what to do. He's just saying enh to whatever the people around him tell him to do. I for one know he hasn't tweeted a letter in his life if he can't deliver a long speech in my lifetime. and lets not pretend the yoruba brains on his team are not with him because of his wise VP choice, by himself he is just a mallam with 150 cows. Stella no edit my comment oh. i don throw stone. Bleh
