President Obama's Message To Nigerians Over Forthcoming Presidential Elections....

Read full text of Mr. Obama’s Message to the Nigerian People below:

“Hello.  Today, I want to speak directly to you—the people of Nigeria.
Nigeria is a great nation and you can be proud of the progress you’ve made.  Together, you won your independence, emerged from military rule, and
strengthened democratic institutions.  You’ve strived to overcome division and to turn Nigeria’s diversity into a source of strength.  You’ve worked hard to improve the lives of your families and to build the largest economy in Africa.

Now you have a historic opportunity to help write the next chapter of Nigeria’s progress—by voting in the upcoming elections.  For elections to be credible, they must be free, fair and peaceful.  All Nigerians must be able to cast their votes without intimidation or fear.

So I call on all leaders and candidates to make it clear to their supporters that violence has no place in democratic elections—and that they will not incite, support or engage in any kind of violence—before, during, or after the votes are counted.  I call on all Nigerians to peacefully express your views and to reject the voices of those who call for violence.  And when elections are free and fair, it is the responsibility of all citizens to help keep the peace, no matter who wins.

Successful elections and democratic progress will help Nigeria meet the urgent challenges you face today.  Boko Haram—a brutal terrorist group that kills innocent men, women and children—must be stopped.  Hundreds of kidnapped children deserve to be returned to their families.  Nigerians who have been forced to flee deserve to return to their homes.  Boko Haram wants to destroy Nigeria and all that you have worked to build.  By casting your ballot, you can help secure your nation’s progress.

I’m told that there is a saying in your country: “to keep Nigeria one is a task that must be done”. Today, I urge all Nigerians—from all religions, all ethnic groups, and all regions—to come together and keep Nigeria one.  And in this task of advancing the security, prosperity, and human rights of all Nigerians, you will continue to have a friend and partner in the United States of America.

*Hmmm this message does not feel right....Does he know something we dont know?I am uncomfortable when America gets involved in any country's affairs!

    2. Bianca B, please tell him to shut up one more time.... America has nothing to offer this great nation after what they have done to this nation. The unity, togetherness and progress of this country is a huge treat to the level of influence America has in Africa, most especially West Africa. America wants this our beloveth nation to break up by 2015 just as they have predicted so as to have us in smaller groups with our strength in our diversity shattered ,thereby making it very possible for them to toss us around. Most African countries and especially West Africa look up to Nigeria. America doesn't want that!!! They are so insecure that they don't want competition. During the early 80' when the Naira was so strong and a treat to the influence of Dollars, This very insecure set of people forced our government to devalue Naira..... Can you imagine!!!
America has done more harm than good. They murdered mummar Gadahfi just because he refused to be tossed around by America not necessarily because he has been in power for to long. Libya has huge reserves of oil and America wasn't benefiting from it under Ghadaffi. So, they systematically murdered him. This is the same reason America doesn't have a cordial relationship with Russia because Vladimir Putin have on many occasions publicly criticize America for bullying other smaller nations of the world.
Please, lets vote wisely and shun violence. There's no other country we can truly call our own after we let them destroy us.
      GOD BLESS NIGERIA.
LONG LIVE THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA.

      Sheer hypocrisy!

He didn't know when the PGEJ-led government turned to America for arms but they refused citing human rights violation just the same way they refused to help with Ebola and we conquered.... I hear now they(America) have pledged weapons just bcuz like Ebola we are winning the war on terrorism.

  9. Stella they have been monitoring all these election brouhaha between the two power parties. It's enough for any responsible and sane country to express their concern. To be frank, if one party wins the other, the aggrieved party will call it rigging and it's bound to cause trouble which will lead to innocent victims becoming victims. At least that's how I view it and it is scary enough as it is.

  18. What is not sincere about it? He is an African, and he is sending a message across to his fellow African brothers. He is the most powerful man in the world, so his voice must be heard, it is expected.Nigeria has been in the spotlight, and the election shines the light even brighter... This is the election many say would break Nigeria, and so it is important for him and other presidents to wish us well. That said, I pray Nigerians vote freely and fairly, and stay safe...It is your civic duty/right to vote. Good luck Nigeria...I pray whoever wins will take Nigeria to the promised land...Puppets of sdk. blog, start saying how insincere the message is, since Stella has aired her opinion...

    1. Well said dear. Obama lending his voice and support as a world leader is imperative. He has done the right thing and there's nothing unclear about this message.

My personal fear for the election is that surely, a winner will emerge on Saturday. But the aftermath is what worries me. The loser will claim rigging took place and confusion will start. I hope that the election will not be annulled like that of June 12. The June12 election till date has been the fairest election in the history of Nigeria, yet, it was annulled by the power that be.

The second freest election that was close to it is that of 2011 that elected Jonathan into power. I envisage another free and fair election on Saturday. But like I said, will the loser take a bow? God help us o

    3. Was his heard in 2011? He is an African? What has he done for Africa since he became President? Africa benefited under Clinton and Bush's administration and even now when they are no more the President. He should face his country and deal with his low ratings and the fact that his citizens handed over Majority in the senate and house to Republicans in the last elections and leave us alone. We don't need America.

  23. The truth is that Obama's foreign policy has been a disaster. America turned their attention to Egypt and backed the muslim brotherhood party to win the election, Obama even hosted them in the white house, how did it end. Then ISIS started in Syria wanting to overthrow Assad's government and what did the Obama administration do? They helped them ISIS, then called the rebels with arms to fight against Assad. At a point Obama even wanted to fight against Assad if not that Putin intervened, now ISIS has become cancer and spreading fast. Obama leave Nigeria. Alone, we don't need you even your people can't wait to get rid of you.

  25. Nigeria has the largest population in Africa. If violence breaks out during or post-election and it results in a refugee crisis, it will affect the entire continent. So America needs for it to be peaceful so it doesn't become a UN refugee problem.

    1. Kudos to obama for coming out to lend his voice on d forth coming election schedule to hold this saturday march28. It shows that he is a leader no doubt about that but critically examining his message all is not well in it

America has predicted and forecast that Nigeria will disintegrate by 2015 with that well said, Nigeria government approach them for weapons in fighting against bokoharam he vehemently rejected citing human right violation which to him is a perfect excuse. Now he is condemning the activities of bokoharam...HYPROCRATE

Nigeria is the largest economic in Africa. No doubt about that yes we know but America systematically and strategically tried crashing Nigeria economy through d sudden fall in oil price. America is behind the disintegration of great USSR through the same means. Due to the unrest in Russia and Ukraine America crash oil price thinking such hypothesis will work, thanks to the diversification of economic and with the help of technology which connect the world together easily unlike during the era of USSR...SELFCENTERED

America is not the most powerful nation in the world they are just frontier and posing themselves as world power. Isreal is the world power quote me anywhere. If Isreal withdraw their workforce and capital from America economy, America will crumble. Isreal has the most dangerous and effective secret service(MOSSAD) in the whole world and it has never been heard that their database hacked but CIA database has been hacked by an Isreal teenager. What I am saying this, unlike people claiming America is the world power theorically it is otherwise.
In conclusion, America does not have any nation at heart including their so called allied. When there was an attack on france which happen to be an allied did obama surface in France no but Neteyahhu did and Cameron. America does not wish Nigeria well and Obama message to Nigeria. 34. @ Iphie dearie mama.... I know right?! They do o.... All these their movies made realize that once they see a future threat/competition, they always find ways to cause chaos. But God pass them..... That slogan he made about Nigeria was during the Nigerian civil war, has anyone thought about why he would bring up such a sore subject. That slogan was deployed by the Nigerian State during the Civil War to justify her disproportionate use of unmitigated force and wholesale starvation to annihilate millions of Eastern Nigerian citizens. That slogan is the Nigerian version of Heil Hitler! It reminds us of the Nigerian Holocaust that was the Civil War!
Although his unfortunate deployment of the slogan may have been in good faith, but his advisers may have set him up to commit a heinous gaffe by slyly using the slogan as a veiled comparison of the Civil War that led to the death of MILLIONS of Nigerians with the Boko Haram terrorism. I find his illogical comparison outrageously distasteful!
