A Zimbabwean nanny was jailed for 22 years for the murder of a 10-month-old baby she stuffed into a drawer "for crying too much" before she settled down to watch TV.
Violet Moyo, 22, was sentenced on Thursday after being found guilty of murder over what the judge said was a "very cruel and brutal" death, the state-run Chronicle newspaper reported.
Moyo, from Zimbabwe's second city of Bulawayo, was left in charge of the baby boy while the parents went to work and had fed him and put him to bed.
But the child woke up after five hours and started crying, the prosecution said.
Moyo tried in vain to calm the boy and in frustration she wrapped him in a blanket, stuffed him in a linen drawer and shut it while she went to watch a film on television.
She went to check on the child after three hours and found he was dead, the newspaper said Friday.
High court judge Lawrence Kamocha described the baby's death as "very cruel and brutal".
"Despite the baby's distressed cry, you chose to ignore him and went to the lounge to watch a television movie which is quite clear you wanted to kill him," Kamocha said.culled

I left my son with a Hungarian child minder when I came back there was a scratch mark on his face I asked her she said she didn't know . That was the last time I used her . Mother is gold, now I appreciate my mum more tho... What were u employed to do anyways?! A nanny that should watch the baby, decides she needs a break... Na God go punish u! imagine the one that happened close to my house on airport road, Benin city. The nanny watching the 9 abi 10month old baby left the child to his mercy, the child fell off a high table or chair now... She didn't bother to report the incident to the working mom when she got back home.. that night nobody slept cos the baby was running a high temp,was inconsolable, the parents rushed the baby to the hospital only to discover the baby had sustained a broken spine... the baby died 3days later while the father locked the nanny in jail. Sad, sad, sad...

Economy is bad anyway that's y some women work but some just do it to prove a point. If you have a hubby who can provide, please sit at home n take care of your kids.
