OLX MAKES OFFICIAL STATEMENT CONCERNING THE MISSING CHILDREN

We have observed that we are being misquoted on the Naij blog, owners of a competitor online classified company called JiJi.ng.  Please find the actual response from OLX.

This is an unfortunate situation and our sympathies go out to the victim and their family.  OLX is an online classifieds site that brings buyers and sellers together to promote trade.

We take steps to moderate and review all ads but we do not participate in the negotiations between buyers and sellers. Transactions are performed directly between both parties. In all our marketing campaign, we continuously urge our users to take necessary precautionary checks when using OLX.

We continue to innovate and improve our review process with tighter measures that would help to minimize future occurrence of negative incidents. We also need our users to help us kick out bad players and ask them to report any dubious activity or user on the site for immediate action.

Our customer support team can be reached at 0700-CALL-OLX (0700-22-55-659) or at support-ng@olx.com.

We sincerely hope that the 3 kids are returned safely to their loved ones. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and we will provide all help within our capacity to facilitate the quick reunion of the 3 children with their family.

Lola Masha
Country Manager
OLX Nigeria

Thank you for your usual support.

Best Regards.

    2. Thank God the kids have been found.
But I still maintain that olx has no blame in this. Good enough they granted a press statement to show they were worried too but that's as far as it goes.
I mean you go to reputable companies and even banks, and riight tthere in their premises they put out a visble sign "cars parked at owners risk. What does that tell you? You are liable for your actions hence apply caution!

Every blame goes to the mum who went online to get a maid. Who on earth does that?
Am ssure she has learnt her lessons.
Thank God the kids are back home.

      Jobs will come and go,
      Househelps will come and go,
      Friends will come and go
Even some husbands will come and go
But your kids are yours for life.
Be wise! Guard them jealously. Be mindful.

  6. This isn't OLX's fault na,the children's parents posted the advert for a house help. If olx had anything to review or investigate,it would be their own advert. Thank God the children have been found.

  7. Nigeria is not like abroad with a database no track recording system, that is y u can't catch criminals easily here, olx is supposed to screen ppl who advertise on their website, not their fault cos Nigeria isn't a developed country

  13. Why blame olx? They have made it clear in their numerous adverts that their job is to link prospective buyers to prospective sellers shikina! Their duty is not to do background security checks on who posts what on their site. It is left for you the buyer to be on your guard & protect your interest.
Thank God the kids were found... Am sure the mama don learn her lesson.

  14. If transactions are performed by both parties and you do not participate in the negotiation, please what is the essence of running a business that can not be managed well rather you put people at high risk.
    Please save this your story.
