President Jonathan's Speech On Presidential Election 2015‏

STATEMENT BY PRESIDENT GOODLUCK EBELE JONATHAN AFTER THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE RESULTS OF PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION 2015

Fellow Nigerians,

I thank you all for turning out en-masse for the March 28 General Elections.

I promised the country free and fair elections. I have kept my word. I have also expanded the space for Nigerians to participate in the democratic process. That is one legacy I will like to see endure.

Although some people have expressed mixed feelings about the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), I urge those who may feel aggrieved to follow due process based on our constitution and our electoral laws, in seeking redress.

As I have always affirmed, nobody’s ambition is worth the blood of any Nigerian. The unity, stability and progress of our dear country is more important than anything else.

I congratulate all Nigerians for successfully going through the process of the March 28thGeneral Elections with the commendable enthusiasm and commitment that was demonstrated nationwide.

I also commend the Security Services for their role in ensuring that the elections were mostly peaceful and violence-free.

To my colleagues in the PDP, I thank you for your support.  Today, the PDP should be celebrating rather than mourning.  We have established a legacy of democratic freedom, transparency, economic growth and free and fair elections.

For the past 16 years, we have steered the country away from ethnic and regional politics. We created a Pan-Nigerian political party and brought home to our people the realities of economic development and social transformation.

Through patriotism and diligence, we have built the biggest and most patriotic party in Nigerian history. We must stand together as a party and look to the future with renewed optimism.

I thank all Nigerians once again for the great opportunity I was given to lead this country and assure you that I will continue to do my best at the helm of national affairs until the end of my tenure.

I have conveyed my personal best wishes to General Muhammadu Buhari.

May God Almighty continue to bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

I thank you all.

Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR
President,
Federal Republic of Nigeria
March 31, 2015

Thank you for being so Honourable President Jonathan....I love you and wish you all the best as you round up your tenure as President...

I wish you all the best as you humbly accept defeat and step back for a new leader to steer Nigeria's ship.
Applause for you Sir!

Now why are you all cussing people who believed and supported President Jonathan?..Everyone had a right to choose ,because their choice lost does not make them less Nigerians. Please leave them alone and let us all embrace peace and move ahead as one.

What about those who mixed religion with politics and swore they heard from God who told them Jonathan would win?

There were errors on both teams but the will of the Majority prevailed......Now live and let live.

Where are all the pastors and prophets that prophesied that Goodluck Jonathan will win the race.

Stella they only reason people are attacking them is because in trying to support president Jonathan, they made a mockery of themselves be shouting and turned it into an war. Where no one agreed with them, they insulted and cussed. I mean, you saw the comment..

  11. Laila, I hope you get to read this,

You should be very careful of your friendship with Stella korks (I know her minions will queue up on this comment, but y'all should quit being such pussies, you know I'm being honest) now to the jist as hand.

Stella was the first person maybe not exactly the first but among the first people to carry the news that you were supporting gej then, even though the entire thing looked so fishy as your picture was the only different one, yet Stella chose not to call you claiming 'I post whatever is news in my email, if Laila has objection she should call me (not exactly how she said it but you get the story)' .

That's jealousy to say the least. After some time, she endorsed PGEJ, which isn't a problem as everyone has the right to support whoever they deem fit. But can you see how two faced she acted?

For Stella's minions, I'm a great fan of Stella, but I have to say the truth. Stella fuels so any emotions ranging from love to hate. As much as I've taken the time out to study Stella, I love her blog.

Laila, I don't mean to fuel any hatred or bad blood, but I think you doing your own thing, which you have always been doing anyway is all that matters. Be yourself and kiss no ones ass.

I wish you all the best, and happy new month blog visitors

It's pure PDP propaganda, never substantiated and denied by the President-elect several times.

He didn't start the bombings, why should he hang for a group of terrorists' crimes?

    3. Mrs. D, Buhari never made that statement! Pls check ur facts.

    4. Seriously???

Even past presidents have come out to say that Goodluck's reaction was a first. If Buhari had accepted defeat in 2011, Nigeria would have been a better place. The thousands that lost their lives would still be living.

The guy possessed the power to turn things in his favour, but he didn't, and you say it's normal? Where has it happened before?

I don't like the way things turned out. I don't like 'that man' I don't trust he's capable of running this country. Till he's able to change my impression of him, I dey where I dey.

Only a few Nigerians practice the "ONE NIGERIA" message, and that makes me very angry. If 'they' can be liberal and open minded like the other set, we'll be a peaceful country.

GEJ today, tomorrow and whenever. He is rare!!!

Let's see what this vindictive illiterate (yes I said it) has to offer.

  17. Stella don't mind them, the will of the Majority Hausa/Fulani and Yorubas prevailed. They have the majority and will always win. All the PDP Muslim stalwarts betrayed Jonathan, they just sat back and allowed their brother take power. We have just gone 15 years backward, all our resources in the South are at their mercy. If only Jonathan was wise early enough to see through their deceit and betrayal. Tinubu exchanged the votes of the south west for money in 2011. I wish all of you disappointment, everyone of the change screamers. One Nigeria is just an illusion and Lord lugard is to blame for all of this. If anyone thinks this election reflected the will of the people then you would know that the people here are not in the South South or South East. The Niger-Delta is like a grave yard except for Amaechi and his gang of criminals. This is the end of PDP, Adamu Muazu, Isa Yaguda, Babaginda Aliyu, Bala and the rest of the snitches May God almighty judge you. My dear good people of the south don't relent, we have to speak with one voice and be more politically inclined. I know that God in heaven does not sleep one day Yar Adua treatment will befall another president. I hope Boko haram would cease to exist, 1 dollar will be equivalent to 1 naira, prices of oil will reduce drastically and there will be 24hrs light after may 29th. Yoruba's will continue to be snitches. One day they would need our votes and we will return the favour. God bless the Good people of the south, God bless Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Azikiwe.

    2. Stella Amaechi is a betrayal and the scum of the earth. His end is not faraway, anyone that can fight his own brother so an outsider can be victorious does not deserve any respect. We are waiting for him

  34. See humility at work. No hausa man can ever do this, Abiola won likr buhari did but IBB couldnt do the needful but rather put the country in chaos that claimed Abiolas life. Jonaay be clueless bcause of the pple around him but he sure is a true son of Naija which can not be said of others.
Go and rest my president you deserve it.

  36. Really Stella, Seriously! These Jonathan E rats were all over the Internet, screaming GEJ till 2019, cursing and abusing anyone in support of Buhari, you forgot to keep them in check I guess, victory is sooooo sweet, I, Omo Naija will torment the pro GEJ for as long as it pleses me. They failed to be civil in their stupid comments by bringing hate and tribalism.. The losers are a long list. Kudos to Tinubu, for daring for daring to walk where others fear to walk. I salute Jega, for believing in Nigeria for Nigerians by Nigerians. Captain Koli, you are a warrior. Viva Africa.

    To be continued:

  37. DR Ebele Good luck Jonathan, God bless u sir. U are truly a man of peace. Let them say what they want, thing is that u impacted in more lives than u can imagine, u made the south south and south east proud, u gave the minority a voice, and for that we are grateful. It's unfortunate u surrounded urself with wicked people, and backstabbers, they let u down. I MAINTAIN, u are better than buhari, far better, it's a pity Nigerians are blinded to see this. As for apc, we shall see. We dey here dey look. I shall see the much talked about change. There had better be visible change, and not spiritual and pocket change. God bless Nigeria.

  38. President Ebele Jonathan, you are truly my hero. Gallant in defeat. How many of these so called change agents would have been able to do same? If PDP had won yesterday, there would have been violence in the north by now. Buhari lost in 2011 and vowed to make the country ungovernable and the treat manifested in the form of Boko Haram. Goodluck Jonathan, you are a true democrat. Nigerian history would never be written without you. I love you and wish you the very best in your future endeavors

  41. The election was dirty and filled wit hate speeches from both sides. Many people will relocate from Nigeria because religious freedom and liberal views will be curtailed. The country needs prayers seriously. The northerners don"t really believe in fair-play.The Yorubas are on a path to failure because when the juicy appointments are given they will realise they have been shortchanged. Welcome to a 'new' Nigeria. Many people will relocate before the end of the year.

  43. I pity these Yoruba people. So you think you are one and the same with the northerners, probably because you are predominantly Moslems? I laugh in Spanish! The Hausas see you as infidels and when the chips are really down, they would protect their own. At least, the south south and south east know where they belong. But where do you belong?

  45. Thank you for your magnanimity. I hope history favors you in her books.

A very big lesson to PDP, you don't darn your members, because you're so large you think everyone that's aggrieved should go to hell, forgetting that little drops of water makes an ocean. Your loss is your opposition's gain. (e.g. Amaechi). I don't expect you to be a weak opposition after one defeat (in my husband's voice).

  46. Why must everything be reduced to tribal/religious lines? I just want the best for my country Nigeria and prayed for God to let the best man win. GEJ was unable to do the job and the people voted against him. Let us give Gen Buhari a chance before we start passing judgement. It breaks my heart when I see our national cake being shared by a few where it could be used to make everybody a lot more comfortable. It might mean a lot fewer super rich but a lot more not living in poverty and for me that is enough. I dream about a Nigeria where we have constant, affordable electricity, water and food. Where we have free education up to secondary school, taught by teachers who themselves are properly educated and can string a proper sentence in English. Where we have decent roads and can travel/visit the length and breath of Nigeria without fear of violence/robbers. Where retiring is not a living death sentence that turns parents into parasites, sucking the life out of their kids in the race for survival. Where there is no extremism in religion because the populace is properly educated and can read and properly disseminate holy books themselves and not rely on religious leaders to do this for them. I dream of a Nigeria where we take pride in the dignity of labour and not society we have today that worships wealth without a care for the source of this wealth.
Nobody can dismiss the fact that GEJ is a humble, honourable gentleman. His unfailing humility struck a chord in the hearts of a lot of people. By his singular gallant act of reaching out to concede defeat to Gen Buhari and clearly stating to his supporters that a peaceful acceptance of the results was the way forward, he just won me over. A couple of lessons I have learnt from his tenure is that one must be careful about the type of people you surround yourself with, including your own spouse.. Every time his wife opened her mouth, all she did was drive people into the arms of the opposition party. Also, if someone does not yearn for something and it comes to them on a platter, they do not really appreciate the value and so cannot put it to good use.
I pray that history will remember him for what he is - a patriotic Nigerian who gave Nigerians the chance to exercise their collective will and respected this, even though it was not in his own favour. How many of you could have exhibited such maturity if you were in his shoes? A incompetent leader yes, but a great patriotic, humble, honest statesman!!!!

  47. Sabongida Ora cutest abeg go find chair make you Sidon. Admit it or not, Nigerian politics is driven by ethnic sentiment which was demonstrated by the votes we saw. Only dillusional people like you, see otherwise whivh is why some silly people in the south took to the street when they thought that APC would loose the elections. Buhari lost in 2011 and vowed to make the country ungovernable, to this end the Igbos in the north were murdered in their thousands and your so called change agent, looked the other way. Believe it or not, if the PDP had won yesterday, your APC and their violent supporters would have taken to the street and there would have been bloodbath by now. So give honor to whom it is due, GEJ. Obasanjo was there and rigged the elections with impunity, GEJ could have done that and plunge the nation into chaos, but he chose to do the opposite. I still maintain that the Yoruba people are snitches
