US Offers France $35 Million To Fight Boko Haram

President Barack Obama of the United State of America (USA) has approved the disbursement of $35 million in military and defence support services to France as part of Washington’s contribution to the war against the terror group, Boko Haram.

The White House said the aid is on account of the Paris active support for Nigeria’s French speaking neighbours—Niger and Chad—in their fight against Boko Haram insurgents as well as Mali, which is battling Islamic extremism.

The three French-speaking have been in the forefront of the war against Islamic terrorism.

No reference was made to Nigeria, which is the worst hit by Boko Haram’s terrorist assaults.

The outgoing Jonathan administration has not enjoyed the best of relations with President Obama over the Nigerian leader’s initial questionable response of the US to the Boko Haram menace.

Agency report yesterday said a US government official simply reaffirmed that the $35 million funding was in support of French operations, which are not taking place in Nigeria.

Some diplomats expect that once President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, assumes office on May 29, the White House will announce some new initiatives to support the overall fight against terror groups in Nigeria.

Recently at Time magazine’s 100 influential people gala in New York City, top US government officials, including Samantha Powers, promised that the US would do more to support the search for the Chibok girls and the fight against Boko Haram in Nigeria. - culled The nation

Boko Haram must be extinguished in Jesus name and its leader and sponsors put to shame!

      The US aren't stupid.

    2. And do u have any evidence to prove that Buhari is Boko haram? Or u just said dat out of ur hatred for buhari. U want America to help Nigeria in fighting Boko haram yet the first set of arms they ever relased to Nigeria found its way to Boko Haram's camp. What happens to the entire funds budgeted yearly on defence? Nobody knows how the funds were utilised yet u want America to donate money to Nigeria in the name of fighting boko haram. Is Nigeria not richer than Niger and Chad put together? I don't blame America for what they did. At least, they donated to a country that can account for how the money is spent.

    6. Ada Mazi good observation. And it's like u all didn't notice what was said about Jonathan's FIRST reaction to the insurgency when the U.S tried to intervene initially.

Jonathan said, "BH are our brothers"...verbatim. This came as a rude shock to all and sundry, hence the withdrawal and the reason it took so long for BH to be tagged "terrorists".. Although GEJ later changed his countenance and sought their help. But it was rather late. The U.S can't play God, but they formed their opinion based on the reaction they got from our presidency. Can't blame them

    5. Money has never been the problem with Nigeria fighting Boko Haram. Solid up to date ammunition and the use of it is what we lacked. We had the money to buy them but we were refused the machines because of reasons best known to the U.S govt.
Well, days ago..I heard an ex General of the army on TV, and when asked what he thought were the reasons the American govt refused us the arms, he said that perhaps, because we lack the art of maintenance in Nigeria. And because the type of gadgets we needed are sophisticated ones that are customized for emergency, and aren't available to every country upon request.
Hence, they didn't think that we "deserved" it, notwithstanding the fact that we could afford it. Na dem sabi

  11. Even if nigeria isn't given d support,at least we will benefit by proxy, cos as they are extinguished or annihilated in d french countries around us,the crisis will lessen, they are one and d same group operating from different regions.
    May God help us

    1. Exactly. And besides, Chad and the other neighbouring countries are were the bh run to when they are chased from the northern parts of Nigeria. So basically, if the boarders are secured and they are ready to attack them when they try to get into their country to hide, in no time we'll eradicate them. Only with their full support though. Cos they hibernate within the boarders and return when our soldiers are relaxed.

  18. Nigeria is not an "aid" needing country please. US are not fools o. When Nigerian govt officials earn more than most developed nations? And are very corrupt, inept and selfish? So the money can go into some few pockets? No, Americans are not fools. Forget the issue of America not assisting when Nigeria govt beckoned, America knows that the same govt officials are the sponsors of BH... What happened to the captured Benue born islamised Nigerian and others who mentioned names of sponsors? They all walked! as free men!!! A govt thats a laughing stock to its citizens are people of the world. Our messiah will govern us someday God helping us.
