APC Governors, Senators And Leaders In NEC Meeting To Solve National Assembly Crisis

The ruling party, APC, is currently holding it's National Executive Committee (NEC) at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja today, July 3.

President Muhammadu Buhari, his vice, Yemi Osinbajo, all APC governors, the National Assembly leadership, Senators and members of the House of Reps are present at the meeting.

The crisis rocking the party since the election of Bukola Saraki and Yakubu Dorgara as Senate President and the Speaker of House respectively happens to be the main agenda of the meeting.

During the meeting, Buhari advised APC members to place national interest above self-interest.

“The elections have come and gone and the APC has won the battle and lost the war, this is the paradox of democracy and we can see how we are going to manage it.

“I have a worthy appeal to you, the chairman, to you the leadership of the party, to you the senators and members of the house of representatives and to you the governors that the APC must not disappoint our constituencies and the nation state.

“What ever your personal interests, put them in your pocket. Let APC work. Let the system work. I appeal to you to accept the superiority of the party. I cannot confine myself in Sambisa forest and refuse to participate in the meeting because I respect the superiority of the party.”

“We thank God in four years we have to convince our constituencies that we are individually worthy of the sacrifices they have made, we have stayed awake days and nights, travelling around to make sure that the party emerge victorious.

What subsequently happen is human, and as human beings, we are not perfect but let our collective action in this party rules because we have won the election and we will eventually win the war,” he said.

Hmmm...Many rivers to cross.I dont want to be a soothsayer but i see another crisis soon.President Bubu should just face his work and leave all these political actors.
Anybody who tries again to derail Nigeria's wheels will not have it easy.

  1. The problem with APC is that majority of them did not win elections but rigged it that is why they cannot come together as one again. only for their selfish reasons they are fighting for. like i read in Nairaland.

    1. Have Meeting
    2. Quarrel in the meeting
    3. Postpone the meeting
    4. Come back again for another meeting.

APC stop behaving like a child that the mother did not buy ice cream for.

    1. You sounds so Pathetic!

This is the first time an opposition party is at the center and as such selfish interest will surface, though solvable.

I believe the President should ushered in leadership to amicably resolve these issues by personally talking to them individually and collectively.

Just like he said . "I appeal to you to accept the superiority of the party. I cannot confine myself in Sambisa forest and refuse to participate in the meeting because I respect the superiority of the party.

Party superiority counts and should be strictly followed constitutionally.

    4. I view the chaos from another perspective. Like the saying goes....when two siblings have a closed door meeting and both come out smiling, it means they didn't tell each other the truth. But if they come out disgruntled and refuse to let the other have his/her way, it means that they have been brutally honest to point out each others shortcoming. And as such, will disagree to agree.

I liken that to the fracas in the APC party. Although one, yet they disagree with themselves because some people amongst them want things done right. It means they do not all share the same perspective vis-a-vis governance. If they all were shining teeth without arguments, then Nigerians should be worried.

In the end those who are fighting for what is right will prevail. Same way they came together to unseat the PDP, so also, they'll within themselves reach a consensus that'll be palatable for all. My opinion

  2. Stella that's exactly what he is trying to do but the truth is that there is no way he can work without the support of his party. Ok look at this National Assembly issues now. His party is divided in d house and I am sure that is part of the reasons he's yet to appoint his ministers cuz d pdp guys will disaprove his nominees but if he is able to get all his party members in d National Assembly 2gethwr they will always approve whatever decision he makes. So as d president he needs to ensure that d problems in his party r resolved

    1. If I were Buhari, I would elect ministers from outside the party. I'll handpick non partisans who have impressive records in public service. Only that it'll seem spiteful to the hard work some party members have rendered. Cos really, the tussle for leadership is the major issue within the APC.. nothing else
