      For puzzle 2! I think the surgeon should be the mother cuz the sex of the surgeon is not mention! So the boy is the son to the surgeon because the surgeon is a woman and so his mother.

    Puzzle one: could it be the donkey?
    Puzzle two:the surgeon is the boy's mother.the puzzle didn't state if the surgeon is male or female,and since the surgeon said"that's my son" its only logical to conclude that the surgeon is a female hence the boy's mother.I'm a 100percent sure of this answer.
