Nigerian Man Michael Adegbite Stabbed To Death In The UK

A teaching assistant who mentored troubled children and campaigned against knife crime has been stabbed to death while selling a laptop to a man he met on Gumtree, according to police.
Michael Adegbite, 28, was killed after three teenagers tried to rob him during a meet-up he had arranged in order to hand over the computer.
Relatives paid tribute to the part-time fitness instructor and model after his 'senseless' death in Enfield, north London on Sunday evening.

Mr Adegbite, from Chingford, sold his MacBook using the listings website Gumtree and drove with a friend to hand over the laptop to the buyer.
At the meeting point, three young men apparently set upon him and attempted to steal the computer, but Mr Abegdite took it back and the robbers ran away.

The victim and his companion were joined by another friend and set off to try and find the youngsters - but when they tracked them down a row broke out and Mr Abegdite was killed.
Three 18-year-old men have now been arrested in connection with the incident and are currently being questioned by police.
The university graduate worked as a teaching assistant at Heathcote School in Chingford, and coached young footballers at Eastside United FC in Hackney.

His brother said in a statement: 'He wanted to help young people from troubled backgrounds, show them the right path.
'He talked to them about the dangers of knife crime and in the end he was the victim of it. It's just senseless. He was killed over a laptop. No life is worth that little.'
A family friend added: 'He was a good boy and we all feel that people need to know that.
'We don't want people to think that he was part of this and we don't want his death to be in vain. The family are devastated, we all are.'

Mr Adegbite studied sports science at the University of East London, and was a promising footballer who once tried out for Wolverhampton Wanderers.
His neighbour Lucy Yapp suggested that his life could have been saved if passers-by had stopped and intervened in the fight.
'People saw four black men fighting and just walked past,' she said. 'They didn't conceive that he might be being attacked.

'The family are devastated. If they called 999 sooner it could have given them an extra five minutes to save his life rather than walk past. No-one called until they saw him on the floor.
'I am devastated. He was a good boy. He even ran a football club for ex-offenders. That's the sad thing about it, he was trying to help the kind of people that stabbed him.'

Friends including professional footballers and pop stars spoke of their grief in the aftermath of Mr Adegbite's death.
Mobo-winning rapper Jahmaal Fyffe, known by his stage names Chipmunk or Chip, tweeted: 'Another good brother just stabbed and dead. Praying for change. Condolences to your family.'
Queens Park Rangers striker Jay Emmanuel-Thomas said: 'The way life works ain't fair, but you're in a better place so guide us and protect us to happiness and success.
'When will the youth of today change, taking people's lives is not cool.'

Residents of the area where Mr Adegbite was killed described how his car was covered in blood by the time it was taken away by police.
Detective Superintendent Simon Warwick of Metropolitan Police said: 'The incident that occurred on Sunday which resulted in the murder of a young man has left his family and loved ones devastated.

'Detectives believe the circumstances surrounding the death arose from an attempted robbery which is being fully investigated by the Homicide and Major Crime Command. We are confident that the incident is not gang-related.'
Officers are appealing for witnesses to the killing, but are not looking for any more suspects.

    5. Yes someone died, RIP.

However, for the benefit of those still alive, you never ever try to mess with these teenage boys in London especially the black and mixed race ones. It doesn't matter how much you work out or how strong you think you are, JUST WALK AWAY. Even if they took his laptop, he should have still walked away. These guys are high on different types of drugs and alcohol, and you can't reason with them. They'll stab or shoot you just to prove a point, if they think they're being disrespected, to prove they're fearless, to impress a girl , to live up to their reputation or so they don't lose respect in front their friends. Worst case scenario, they get arrested jailed for 30 yrs which means 15 yrs concurrent. They could be out on parole in about 8-10yrs time. Their reputation on the streets (which they never lose touch with) will be enhanced, they'll be about 25 yrs old and silly white girls will be throwing themselves at them because they like the thrill of a "dangerous" guy.

    1. Call 999???....I find people will just walk away pretending like nothing's going on. The great Brits...never seen or met peeps as conservative as they are. You just have to play their game!...Unfortunately, our black brothers and sisters are also scared of getting involved as no one wants to get stabbed or get into the hands of immigration when police arrives incase dem no get paper! Such a sad story...

      Delete
    2. So police dey ask for status? Nothing concern police and immigration ok, police dey do there work immigration dey do there work, fear of no paper ni they make una non dey green give evidence, it's well

      Delete
    3. It's so sad. True, no one wants to get involved with those yobs or whatever they are called. The police will not scrutinize their status if they call 999 o.. long as u are not the one in trouble. We need to start to look out for our neighbours. This "mind my business' syndrome is causing too many loss of lives, lives that could have been saved in the nick of time.

That's how one bastard young brit stoned me with an egg one time o. Chai..i was furious and I chased the foolish boy ehn. I was with my friend and I tied gele, attended a function and was heading home. So at the car park my friend was helping me o
put some stuff in the trunk of my car. I saw a few youngsters by the side walk but wasn't really paying attention to them.
They were prolly btw 14-15-16 in age.. suddenly, one of them ran towards me and stoned me with an egg right around my neck area. I was so shocked but quickly started to chase after him out of anger... my friend who didn't quite understand what happened was yelling after me to come back. The boy ran through some talk buildings and I lost sight of him.
It was his area and I didn't know the area, so he was lucky. I explained to my friend who was now helping me clean my body, she said it wasn't new..that the area is known to have kids that attack ppl randomly. Like what the...??? It pained me ehn, some areas in London are not safe at all. All those small boys who move around in groups can be problematic. They carry knives most times and that is why the crime rate in London are mostly 'stab wounds" related. Na so so stab stab stab. God rest the soul of the departed.

      Delete
    4. LOL...that's why I quickly relocated from London after Uni and internship. Omoh, the crime from those yobs no be here!...sorry about the egg, can't stop laughing! Police and immigration are related, imagine being a witness using someone's name to live here, what name will you provide (will you provide yours which is not on the database or your helper's?...Lol)...God help us all.

      Delete
    5. Loll can u imagine. It's funny now o, but that day it wasn't. Ahah

      Delete
  15. Chai!

He would have let them be,after they took lah.

    So so avoidable.

And with such a promising future.

    Rest in peace.
