Ambode Revokes Fashola’s Last-Minute Lekki Land Allocations To Relatives

Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has called back Certificate of Occupancies, C of Os, in which about 25 plots of land were issued by his predecessor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, purportedly to his relatives and cronies towards the end of his administration.

Though the state government is yet to issue an official statement on the revoked allocations, sources said the decision was taken without any malicious intent, since the plots of land in question were hurriedly allotted without following due process at the twilight of Fashola’s administration.

The source said: “Aside the fact that the lands were allocated hurriedly, the land was hitherto earmarked for a government project before former Governor Fashola erroneously allocated it to people.
“I believe the former governor was not properly advised by his aides and the retired permanent secretary at the time he issued the C of Os.”

Investigations showed that the plots of land located at Lekki Phase One had initially been given to the State’s Water Corporation by the then military administration of Brigadier Mohammed Buba Marwa in 1998, while the certificate of occupancy was signed by former Governor Bola Tinubu in 2006.

The land had, however, been lying fallow since then. Most of the plots given out by Fashola were allegedly given to the former governor’s relatives, aides and associates.
It was gathered that the knowledge of the anomalies came to the notice of the governor when the State Water Corporation wrote him, complaining the land belonged to the corporation and that the original certificate of ownership was still valid as it was not voided by Fashola before reallocating it.

Special Adviser to the Fashola on Media and Strategy, Mr. Hakeem Bello could not be reached for comment as at the time of filing this report.

    1. I don't believe anything coming out of the APC propaganda machinery in Lagos lately. Anything will be said to tarnish BRF's image. Even if he wanted to give land to his family, he is too intelligent to have done it like this. He gave Water Corporation land to his family? I simply don't believe it.

Well, I make bold to say that one of those pictures is MY work and I'm amazed at the indolence of this person who can STEAL another person's work and pass as hers on a public forum. Please I would like u to publish this as a warning to this person. It's a crime that is punishable by law. You don't go stealing people's works and then pass as yours.

Fashola's obnoxious acts must have been too much, so much so that Ambode had no way to reverse them without raising feathers.

Let's not support evil. A corrupt man is corrupt.
Whether you set up work as a mirage or not.

Lagosians don't have pipe borne water. The satellite towns are bereft of infrastructure. Some places don't have drainage system. Some people contribute and build roads by themselves. Yet Lagos has the highest non-oil earning in Nigeria. Fashola obviously worked with a fraction, say 15% of Lagos money esp not in his second regime. Let's call a spade spade.

And please, people shouldn't say anyone should be grateful to him with all the tax lagosians pay even to the last motorcycle man and meat sellers. All should be brought to book, including those that 'tried'(in quotes) and the kingmaker too. I had a chat with an ex permanent secretary the other day and I realised a lot of things.

You really exposed Nigeria's issues with the economic uncertainty looming over us and how people are afraid to invest because no one knows yet how govt policy will sway. I so loved it. I even commented. Long ass comments oh. Madam Stella didn't post or it didn't post(im not sure which one)

Anyways. I still like Fashola. I think he has good ideas but this is what u get by riding on a high horse. Most Nigerian politician are like this.
      Don't bother ur head dear

      Delete
    5. @Moneymaker,

I believe STFU means (shut the fuck up) and I also believe you can't be referring to me with such language in a post where I am not referring to you. So let me conclude that it was 'erroneous'.
As For the 'wicked lies' I am spreading, Pls humour me sir. How many Lagosians have pipe borne water in Okoko, Ijanikin, Oshodi, Ago, Alaba, Badagry, even Oshodi? Not to talk of Satellite town or Festac. I mean, Govt generated pipe borne water? So, maybe the word 'lies' has a new meaning I'm not privy to. Or is it not still part of Lagos? Have you seen the road of a place called 'Alaba Rago'? Or Ago Palace way? Can one connect from Festac extension to Okota without a boat? What about Ajah and Epe?
Whether Fashola worked or not is not in contention, what is in contention is, Are Lagosians still living in a deplorable state in that state? Sure.
Did he allocate Govt owned lands to his family, running in billions? Well, so his allies are saying. So where are the fabricated facts.
Afterall, I praise Fashola too. Only that I say the truth where need be. I have no affiliation with these politicians and cannot hero-worship any.

Please, always learn to remove belligerence when typing at people who are not referring to you just because you don't agree with their points. What is the joy of blogging if people say the same exact things? Diverse points set d ball rolling. I am saying it cos next time i'd simply just ignore your comment if it is not well couched. Please, have a nice day sir.

      @P-gurl
Did he at any point suggest that he too could be corrupt, when outing others during the campaign? Or are we forgetting all his allegations and aspersions cast on the opposition?
He is not a saint. He is just like the people he was outing. Allocating 70 something million for a website isn't exactly honest, is it?
Politicians owe the state about 80percent work and when you do 20% and use 60% to advertise and propagate an image, it's like the scenario of the one eyed man being king in the land of the blind. If Lagos were Jigawa, I would have been very impressed with the work. But Lagos is the richest state that can stand on its own without fed govt allocation even. Billions are made daily from the ports, taxes, the industries, construction work...etc. The toll gates alone make millions each hour. Aside from that Lagos borrowed hundreds of billions in bond money that cannot be repaid in 20years time. Are the works commensurate with these billions? Alright, let them pass the FOI act in Lagos if they can? You think they can let people know the exact earnings of Lagos?

      Delete
    6. @money maker...worked wonders..seriously..he did a bit of work and he is not the most efficient governor. Please come to terms that all the governors are CORRUPT. No one is clean and I am happy that Ambode is uncovering them little by little. That is the Change I have been clamouring for.

    7. Thank you Bonaparte!!! Nigerians are such a confused bunch. They will be crying for a better country, then use the same mouth to shout when someone is called out for doing wrong. People go to jail for things like this in sane climes. Heck, people get killed for corruption in certain places. So because he did some work, it's okay to rob the state blind? And with a mentality like this all you supporters expect this country to improve? You people are not serious.

Bad blood or not , everything illegally obtained by the past administration should be seized. My only prayer is that this newly found system of justice could ricochet to Tinubu and his cohorts.
But I know that one day, they'll get what's coming to them. If PDP ever gets the gubernatorial mandate in Lagos, all the plots and schemes enacted by Jagaban and Co. will unravel.

Thiefnubu has accepted the fact that he is a confirmed Ole barawo but
only wishes to rub palm oil on others. Most of these Fashola
infractions were part of the expenses emanated from Tinubu's directives.

Lagosians only voted for the Fashola in Ambode not for Tinubu who
is already a spent force.Tinubu has been defeated at the National level and is presently fighting for his political life.

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu who presently collects over 20% of the
Lagos IGI through Babatunde Fowler, is moving to the Federal till with the
recent appointment of Fowler as the Chairman of FIRS. Expect your VAT
and Company Taxes to increase with Asiwaju tapping up to 25% of our money.

According to the AIT documentary that he is yet to contest
directly, Tinubu owns the Oriental Hotel, Falomo Shopping Complex, First Nation
Airline, Private Jets, Lekki Concession Company, Apapa Amusement Park, the
Renaissance Hotel, the Radio Continental, the TV Continental, the Nation
Newspaper, Ikeja Shopping Mall, Alpha Beta (IGR collectors), ownership of
Tejuoso Market, School of Nursing & NNPC buildings, N4B property located at
the Queens Drive, Lagos and other choice properties worth billions of naira
located within and beyond Lagos State allegedly acquired and owned illicitly by

All well and good all politicians in Nigeria are thieves, the difference is that some work and steal while some just steal blindly. Solution is make politics unattractive and punish severely corrupt politicians.
