Buhari Begins Total Probe Of Jonathan’s Govt

A total probe of the administration run by immediate past president, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is underway as the National Economic Council, NEC, Ad-hoc Committee on the Management of Excess Crude Account Proceeds and Accruals into the Federation Account, headed by the Governor of Edo State, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, is to hire two international forensic audit firms to probe revenue that accrued into the Federation Account and how it was spent under former Dr Goodluck Jonathan as President.

Mr. Oshiomhole told journalists at the end of the first meeting of the committee in Abuja, yesterday that the auditors would cover the period January 1, 2010 to June 1, 2015.
It put paid to calls by the opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, that Buhari should extend his probe to the administrations of Jonathan’s predecessors, Alh. Umaru Yar’ Adua.and Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.
-

Already, some revenue generating agencies have been invited to brief the committee which will take detailed briefings from all Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs of the Federal Government that deal directly with revenue.
The focus will be on the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, the Nigeria Customs Service, the Central bank of Nigeria, the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, NEITI, among others.

Other members of the committee included Gov. Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai of Kaduna State, Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe, and Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom.

Vanguard report.

Well if it must be done then so be it!

  1. IMHO, for the sake of fairness, the probe should also include people that were in power since the inception of democracy in Nigeria.

    1. One thing I have learnt from Jonathans journey, is that I should never let anyone take me for granted. If you're in power, never go too easy on people.

They kept saying he was a good man, but they took his easy nature for granted. Looted without thinking and He ignored them. When elections came they took money from him and went home to sleep paving way for the opposition. Now they want him to protect them?

It's just that many of the looting crimes may have been done using his name as a cover. If not I would prefer if Jonathan keeps quiet and let them suffer for it. U take a good man and walk all over him, remember that there's karma!

What does Oshiomole know about accounting to b heading a probe committee of dz nature . A chronic hater of GEJ N PDP . Which international forensic accounting firm are yu going to bring ? It has 2 b of course those dat indirectly sponsored APC . Buhari should go down to GEJ's predecessors if he is honest wt dz n APC governors shouldn't b ignored . Nigeria a nation of democratic "nollywood"

  13. Hmmmn, its going to be an interesting topic. I support GMB on this although I think its witch hunting but then I ask myself, are they even innocent? I would like to see what Iphie Dearie and other GEJites have to say about this. 'wont be surprised if they are waiting for sisi eko's unbiased view, something they never gifted us with when GEJ was in power. All of sudden there is something called 'constructive criticism' but during the last tenure, a naysayer was tantamount to being 'insatiable'. It is well with Nigeria...

    Let the probe be professional.
There should not be political witch hunting as has been the hallmark of this govt. since its inception
The eventual report by the oyibo people should not be doctored to achieve a set political goal.

  17. There's no way GEJ's administration can be probed without it involving OBJ and some of his cliques. So, since Buhari is interesting in probing, let him be ready to get whatever answer he gets.

  19. Hmmmm! Hope he probes Gej's predecessors, otherwise i'll see this act as witch hunting..

  20. Long Hiss.... Oshiomole and El Rufai as members of the board? Quite hilarious. They should go on with the probe, I hope it rescues Nigeria from the economical mess we are in at the moment. I hope Oshiomole and Rufai as FCT minister should be looked into. The only person I blame is PDP and GEJ, they had the yam and the knife but took it for granted. If only Buhari can probe OBJ, then I will finally accept him as the incorruptible general he claims to be. Someone just called Sisi Eko unbiased lmfao....TGIF

    ReplyDelete
  21. The committee should be headed by people who are unbiased. Not oshiomole, he could be a committee member but defiantly not the head. Fake probe.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Probe ko probe ni. What knew thing are they going to tell us.they stole money yes we know but you're going to spend more money probing them and at the end of the day they won't return the money and the masses will still be hungry.
Buhari should just face his tenure cos he has a lot to tackle and fufill his campaign promises. With the way time flies these days 2019 will soon be here and he ll have nothing to show for it.

  29. I think probing GEJ is not witch hunting, but the beginning of transparency. We should not this same administration to probe all past administration, where will they get the time?If Jonathan administration is probed now, then the next regime can also pick another administration to probe.
And one thing we don't clearly here is that, while Jonathan is being probed, indirectly the administration of others will come in,bcoz in the of the findings ,past government officials will be summoned to come and shed light to some issues and paper works.

  30. Gentility is not stupidity. Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan lost the election because he is a gentle man who put the interests of this country before his personal ambition; it doesn't mean he is stupid. Buhari and APC should not take him for granted bc people like GEJ fight to the death when they're backing the wall. He is like me; I can be calm for peace to reign. But if I decide to fight, I fight till I win or die and I'm still living. Niger-Delta militants are keenly observing. If this selective probing and witch-hunting does not end on social media, if it sees my amiable Dr Goodluck Jonathan man-handled in any way, Nigeria will divide! If Buhari must probe, probe all or probe none! You lots are all the same.

  31. If the current govt wants to probe the immediate past govt for the sake of accountability, fine. However, I don't think serving governors ought to head the committee, as they have executive duties to carry out in their respective states, and this would be a distraction making them deviate from their primary responsibilities. Also, Oshiomole has now been identified as a card carrying member of the "Send PDP members to Kirikiri" group, hence, he is already viewed as biased. I would prefer unbiased reputable firms do the audit, and their findings submitted to the president through a special senate committee consisting of members of different political parties. BTW, the last I checked, Oshiomole is also a part of the previous administration, so is his performance as a governor then going to be probed? He that comes to equity must come with clean hands.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Shit. Let the probe be extended to the past administrations not only GEJ. Oshomole that has been a chronic hater of GEJ and PDP is leading a committee. What do you expect? The report will be based on full time bias report. I smell witch hunt here. Oshiomole attention seeker has seen an opportunity to honour his bitter soul. Buhari check your sponsors too, they are not saints either and you know it. You would have started with them but nevertheless, I know this has been the grudges you have been nursing in your mind since you failed in 2011. Am not against probing, but let it not be a witch hunt after all many people has been on that seat ever since democracy started.
