  8. Bursitis is when fluid collects in the sac that cushions the joints. It can be very painful.
If it's caused by an infection, an antibiotic can help. Also try ibuprofen to help with inflammation, using pillow at night to avoid further trauma/irritating the area, ice helps, steroids has been known to help, and resting the area helps a great deal as well.
But try and see a specialist at Igbobi hospital (I believe they should be able to handle this).

  12. Bursitis is the inflammation of a bursae (tiny sacs filled with synovial fluid, found in different parts of the body, that help reduce friction as muscle or tendon glides over bone)

You can imagine how painful, it would be when inflammed, because of friction particularly.

Poster, are you sure it's only bursitis?
Eight months, and still no relief.

You should consider going for comprehensive tests. It could be an underlying factor to something else, then again, it may be just that, but you have to be sure.

    Try a teaching hospital, maybe?

  15. Poster, from what you've described, Chronic osteomyelitis is most likely what you are having. My advice is visit a teaching hospital or good private hospital for treatment.
P.S. Very few antibiotics penetrate bones hence the reason while you are still having symptoms despite using different drugs. All the best

    1. She probably has to be tested to know which antibiotic will work for her. Had a test done years ago and was told I was resistant to 4 out of 6 so I had to take one of the 2.

  16. Had something similar 3 years ago. It was horrific. I couldnt walk for about a month. At a point i thought I wssnt going to be able to walk normally again.I limped for several months when i couldnt take it again I Was placed on bed rest for 3 weeks at Lagoon hospital to reduce the trauma in my hip hip joint. I was placed on tramadol and ibuprofen. After the bed rest, my muscles were wasted i couldnt use the particular leg with the issue. Had to use walking stick and underwent extensive physiotherapy for a couple of months. The pains didnt completely disappear even after 2 years not until i started excercising regularly. Excercises made the pain disappear.Seek proper medical attention from an orthopedic doctor. Did alot of xrays, MRI and CT scan. You will be fine i had a baby abt 2 years after and I am currently pregnant. And i walk normally now. Took time tho... pele

    1. What kind of exercise is that, will really want to try it out but as it is now, I can't jog or do anything that requires running, the pain is so unbearable

    2. You have to start with very light excercises. I started brisk walking and jogging late last year after the pain had reduced to a great extent. Prior to that it was just muscle strengthening excercises. Check google for excercises to ease burstitis pain and strenghten the muscles around the affected joint there are alot. Like i stated earlier you need to see an orthopedic doctor and physiotherapist to treat the underlying cause. You may also need bed rest so that the inflamation reduces and the fluid accumulation stops. While undergoing physio, they used Uv rays and some electro magnetic stimulators in line with muscle strengthening excercises. From the description you have given it sounds very much like what i went tru. In summary. See a doctor, Rest the limb, do strengthening excercises this is very important, take tramadol for pain and ibruprofen to curb inflamation. Note that the medications have side effects cant be taken for too long.
      All the best.

  17. Hi dear I really do understand what you are going through because I'm currently managing a chronic case of bursitis of the calcaneus. This is as a result of the inflammation of the bursae. There are ways to manage this:
Avoid sleeping in very cold environment or make sure you cover up properly to avoid stiffness & pain
You can use ice cubes ( cold compress) to apply on painful areas
Using of NSAIDS like diclofenac to temporarily relive the pain. Note that long usage of NSAIDS could lead to kidney complocations
Injecting painful sides with steroids though this has its side effects
Aggressive physiotherapy especially with the use of uv rays.
Finally you can go for a surgical procedures .
I'm billed for the surgery by November. Because I've exhausted all treatment regimen. I have suffered this since 2001 due to a poorly managed sport injury to my calcaneus. I'm a Dr and I can tell you it's not been easy.
If you interested I can recommend a clinic outside the country for proper management.
    Stay strong
