Man Roasted Alive By His Father

A 22-year-old man in Omu-Aran, Kwara, Sola Akangbe, died in the early hours of Saturdayfollowing wounds from a fire allegedly set on him by his biological father, Kehinde.

The deceased, a wheelbarrow pusher, was said to have suffered high degree burns and was confirmed dead by doctors at Ajisafe Hospital, Omu-Aran, where he was rushed to by the policeon Friday.

Doctors at the hospital battled to save his life as the fire affected most parts of his body, NAN gathered.

The deceased was said to have been accused of stealing an undisclosed amount of money from some roadside beggars on Friday and was apprehended and handed over to his father.

The father, a commercial driver, allegedly drove his son to a nearby bush on Omu-Aran-Isanlu-Isin road, tied his hands and legs before setting him ablaze.

Sola, who was still alive when he was rescued, told his rescuers that his father was responsible for the act.

The mother of the deceased, Rachael, was seen crying in the hospital after the death of her son was broken to her.

The mother, who is a trader based in Odo-Owa, another suburb, told NAN that a friend had notified her of the development on phone before she rushed to the hospital to check on her son.

The mother, who acknowledged that Sola was an unrepentant troublesome fellow, however, expressed shock at the father’s action.

She disclosed that although she gave birth few weeks ago, she had divorced Kehinde about seven years ago as a result of irreconcilable differences.

Mr Ajayi Okasanmi, the Police Public Relation Officer in the state, confirmed the incident, saying that the suspect was already in police custody and that investigation was ongoing.

    2. No matter how troublesome he was, he still wa a human being and should have been dealt with appropriately by the Police.

How do you tie up your own child and set him ablaze?

But why didn't the boy fight his way out when his father was tieing him up?

    3. This is what a broken home will cause...social misfit...action/reaction...why kill the boy?...why not hand him over to the police?...in fact, the man ought to be blamed cos he didn't do his parenting job well!

    4. When I saw what he did to that boy I freaked out. How did he do it? So till he poured petrol or kerosene on that boy, lit the match and set him ablaze, his paternal instinct didn't creep in so to have pity on him? That's all I can think of. That boy was badly burned and he is better dead than staying alive to suffer the excruciating pains. If my eyes could ache from merely watching the last layer of his skin, imagine the pain that boy endured until he died. This is just witchcraft

    1. Oh yea? Are u for real? Then we would all be dead by now if our parents had to deal with us accordingly. Show me a juvenile who hasn't annoyed the parents to the point that they'd just want to strangle u....but they restrain themselves and give appropriate punishment. Is setting ur own child, or any child ablaze the answer to it? Better not allow anger make u regret the day u were born o. Cos no one will say it's ur child, therefore u can do whatever u like with him. He was irascible and I bet he's regretting his actions now.

    2. Very stupid anon... when you kill your own child we will be here to castigate u and await your prison term. There are other ways of rehabilitating a child that has strayed. Who's fault was it the boy strayed in the first place?? He probably took after his fad

  12. For them to handover his son to the Father means he does not tolerate a child that steals, The Father should have reported him to the Police and not taking laws into his hands.
