Mr Anthony Meribe In Detention Since 2009 Without Bail Is About To Gain His Freedom...

Remember this case posted here last year? His Daughter is a BV and she used this platform to cry out last year 2015 that her dad was being held without trial and that cry has been heard by GOD....

You will not believe how God has turned this around!

''Good morning Stella

Hope you and family are well. My family and I want to Thank you for using your blog to help us and so many other people out there. You have been a huge blessing to us and many and God alone will reward you.

I am sending this post to thank the good SDK lovers (me included) who has been extremely helpful, the support, advice, phonecalls and encouragements i get from this blog regarding my father's case is so amazing. My family and I are very grateful to you all.

Again I would like to update the good people who has been a rock to us without mentioning names. And also Jude Theadeus Nicholas Chukwuma Obiukwu requested I send this post since i posted it first last year which he also replied to. And to confirm that yes we bear no grudges or habour ill feelings towards them.

The sensible youths of umuokeikpa umuoma onicha ezinihitte mbaise have been in constant meetings the whole of Christmas and up on till now with Anthony Meribe's family and Obiukwu's family to resolve the issue.

The youths have called both families to make peace and end the case. Again without going into much details, alot has happened....It has been a tradition especially in our community that NO one calls police or EVEN kill a true blood of the family. Every case has always been settled among ourselves and even a new born baby in that compound knows that tradition.

My question is this if my father truly killed Godwin Obiukwu as accused then why is he still alive till now??... but that's in the past now. Godwin the deceased is MY blood brother whom i loved so much regardless of his reputation in the community. I still love him. I am using this platform to tell the families of Obiukwu Jude Theaddeus Nicholas Chukwuma Obiukwu and Pantelion Chibuike Obiukwu that we the entire families of Anthony Meribe has accepted to make peace.

Life is too short to bear grudges and like my precious mother always say there's a reward for everything. The families of Anthony Meribe have accepted the decisions made by the youths of umuokeikpa to withdraw the case from court and come home to make peace.

The families of Meribe has been known as a peaceful, loving and helpful people in the community and we will not change now because of this. That reputation and good name will linger forever.  In everything we give glory to God.  (Psalm 37-1 to end)

    2. I want to personally plead with the Obiukwu family, may God console you and fight for your dead brother. Leave vengeance for him. This life is full of surprises and you can never tell. I watched a case of an unusual suspect last night and it goes a long way to show that you can never say never.

    3. Power of the media. I hope the family's decision for a resolve will influence the decision of the court/police that remanded him for this long? Hope they won't say it's no longer a family issue but that of the state against your father...since the issue here is murder. At any rate thank God u are making a headway

  20. Naija!! Someone was murdered hence it should not be a case that can just be withdrawn by the complainant, it's a case against the state except he has been cleared of the allegations and in that case, investigation should continue to nail the real culprit.

  22. wow God be praised! Thank you so much SDK for the platform you have created to help those in need. And im really irked at the rate of injustice in this country. since 2009 someone is in detention without any form of trial or conviction. It is well!

  24. After killing someone. Okay o.

See them castigating the complainant as if they have no right to seek for justice for their murdered relative.

That is why i keep saying Nigerians should stop all forms of jungle justice. Now, the person is dead and the killer is in court (soon to be released).

  27. I don't mean to burst your bubble, but I feel compelled to tell you that it is the prerogative of the state to discontinue any criminal matter and not that of the complainant. Thus, your family cannot decide to 'withdraw the case from court' as you put it. My advise would be that you discuss with the prosecutor and the investigating officer and then they in turn will advise the commissioner of justice of the state(assuming it is at the state high court)to enter a 'nolle prosequi', meaning he will inform the court that the state wishes to withdraw the matter against the accused and he will then be DISCHARGED. But if the case against your father is just DISMISSED for lack of evidence, note that he can still be tried again even in 20 years time once they get fresh evidence because there is no statute of limitation on murder cases.

    Thank me later.
