Dangote Commences Road Construction

Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) has commenced the construction of concrete roads in various states across the country. Sources at the company’s head office revealed that the company has already commenced construction of roads in Lagos, Bauchi, Kogi,  Kaduna and Ogun state among many others.

The source said: “We are very happy at the moment. I can categorically state that we are in more than five states across the country already constructing roads. The reception has been wonderful. State Governments are beginning to see the need to embrace concrete roads and we are very happy at the way things are currently going.

Chairman of Dangote Cement, Aliko Dangote recently reiterated his plea to the federal government to consider the use of concrete roads in the country. Africa’s richest man said it will benefit Nigerians and even the federal government to embrace the option of using concrete for roads in the country. Aside from being very cheap, he said concrete roads are more durable and that its maintenance cost is near zero.

He said: “We are pushing for Nigeria to do a concrete road. It is cheaper to do a concrete road that will last 50 years than to do a bitumen road. It will also help in eliminating corruption because if you go and build a bitumen road, it will have to be adequately maintained unlike a concrete road that is very durable.”

Dangote’s Executive Director Stakeholders Relations and Corporation Communications, Engr Mansur Ahmed, also canvassed the use of concrete to construct roads in the country recently at a conference in Abuja.

  2. Is he doing the construction from his pocket or he got a contract from FG.as a contruction company? They should clarify this, and dont let it sound as if he is doing Naija one big favour. After all,his trailers has been causing damages to major roads in Nigeria for over a decade now.

    1. He's a business man and using business strategy. He will do it for free with his money and offcourse to sway govt to agree to concrete road, once that is done then I bet u will see his networth skyrocket cos that simply means he will be d sole supplier of cement to FG/contractor and imagine hhow many cements will be needed across federation.....I'm fearful Dangote is becoming too powerful to possess Nigeria economic wealth and might decided to bring us(Nigeria) to our kneels by holding us to ransome. He largely dominates Nigeria market and with his diversion to oil and gas with d refinery ish, power generation andd a port, then Dangote's gonna be super outrageously economy powerful

  6. Which road in Kogi State? Greedy man, come to Obajana where his major source of income and see how community are suffering, common water Dangote could not give them. All he does is sharing them water with a tanker twice in a month. Dangote is a greedy and wicked man. Few months back the little community where he's getting the stones he uses for Cement protested over not benefiting anything from him. No water no road no electricity. Dangote called DSS and Army, the people stood their grand, stop them from lifting any Stone, Before the greedy man agreed to fix their road and give them electricity. I could go on. And if truly he is constructing any road, Nigerians should get ready because he will soon add money on cement. He nothing free for Nigeria. Anytime Dangote is about to do any charity... He must add money on his Cement.
