Husband Kills Wife's Lover After Catching Both In The Act On Their Matrimonial Bed.

A 32-year-old businessman, Ezekiel Igbokwe, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly killing his wife’s lover, Victor Olatundun.

Igbokwe was said to have killed Olatundun after he caught him having sex with his wife on their matrimonial home.

The suspect allegedly committed the offence at about 12am at Peace Lodge on Itura Street, Awa Ijebu, Ijebu-North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The suspect, who committed the crime on Wednesday, July 27, was arrested by the police the following day.

Igbokwe and his 28-year-old wife were among the 23 suspects paraded at the Ogun State Police Command headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, on Thursday, for various offences ranging from murder to illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

Igbokwe, who said he was a businessman, explained that he had returned from his trip to Onitsha and met Victor on top of his wife on their matrimonial bed.
He said he picked a machete in the toilet and cut the victim in the neck and hand.

Olatundun reportedly died on the way to the hospital.

Igbokwe, who deals in electronics, said he was born in Ago Iwoye, Ogun State.
He said, “I travelled to Onitsha on July 25, and when I came back on July 27, I met a man inside my room making love to my wife. Then we started fighting.

The man was stronger than me. When I saw he could overpower me, I got a cutlass in my toilet and dealt him blows in the hand and neck. On the way to the hospital, the fuel in the car finished and he died.”

Igbokwe said he committed the crime due to anger, adding that he never meant to kill the victim.

He claimed that he had never met Olatundun before, saying he also never suspected that his wife was having an extra-marital affair with anyone.
PUNCH Metro learnt that Igbokwe and his wife, Juliet, have three children aged nine, seven and five.

Juliet, who sobbed intermittently, said her alleged lover had been pressurising her for a relationship for some time.
She explained that she had always told him she was married, but the victim never gave up until he ended up at their matrimonial home on that night.
Juliet, who said she sold snuff, said Victor was her supplier and he pestered her for six months before she finally gave in.

She said she suspected that the deceased used a charm on her, as she could not explain how it all happened.
She said, “He had been disturbing me that he wanted to marry me, but I said I was married.
“On the day of the incident, I really can’t say if he used a charm on me. All I know is that he called me that he wanted to see me and I told him not to come; he knew my house and when he came, I didn’t know what happened.

“He used to come and deliver snuff to me in the house. On the day of the incident, he told me he was coming from somewhere and that it was already late. He wanted to sleep in our place till the next day. He didn’t know that my husband was away. He tried to sleep with me, but later he didn’t.”
Juliet, who claimed that she got married to her husband in 2005, said the husband did not take good care of her and the children.

She said their marriage had been turbulent and fraught with fights and quarrels.
The mother of three said each time there was a fight, her husband would leave the house for months.

*The woman is lying, she has been at this for a while, she should stop saying she was charmed, was it not on this blog some of you advised that BV to lie that the man she slept with used charm on her?

I dont see why she is handcuffed with the man though, adultery is a sin and not a crime, the man should face the law alone.

This is why it is always good to walk away when you run into your lover or spouse with someone else,WALK AWAY OOOOO.

  1. Had this discussion with a colleague. Adultery is not a criminal offence except on the grounds of divorce.
Something that a divorce can solve the man allowed his temper get the best of him. Now he'd go to jail while his wife will continue to sleep with or marry another man.
    Too bad for him.
Control your temper at all times, there is always another way better than violence.

    2. This is a clear cut case. The woman has no crime to answer to. The man on the other hand should get a good lawyer, plead defence of provocation and Cikena he will be free of get some years for manslaughter. All in all Victor remains dead.

    4. Adultery is not a criminal offence in the South, this is the ruling in the case of Aoko v Fagbemi. It is however a crime in the north and punishable under the Penal Code Law.

    5. The man should be set free. What he did was a result of the rage he felt at that moment. It wasn't premeditated murder.

    6. The penal code does not apply to a non Muslim @ Samantha, or it will be violating the constitutional right of freedom to religion and conscience. The constitution is the supreme law of the land. It trumps everyother law. A Christian will not be subject to a penal code.

    7. Anon I'm just stating that it is a crime in some parts of the country, because Stella said "adultery is a sin not crime". I'm not referring to the case at hand.

    8. Well, a case of manslaughter, no doubt. The wife keeps contradicting herself. First she said he called her to say he would spend the night at hers, then she said he didn't know her hubby was away? How could he on his own volition decide to go sleep jn a married woman's house just like that, if u hadn't told him ahead that the coast was clear? Liar liar.

Then she claimed she didn't know whether it was jazz. And finally she gave her reasons, that her hubby doesn't take care of her. Which of course is the main reason you've been committing adultery. In fact you gave the deceased the license to do what he did, that's why he was brave enough to confront ur hubby to a fight. When he should have run away when ur hubby caught u. Unfortunately he had to pay with his life. In his next life he won't try such. Now see how you've put ur hubby in a mess. It is the poor kids that'll suffer.

She should be freed though. Only her conscience can deal with her not the law. But she'll be a witness in court so they can prosecute her husband of manslaughter.

    2. But it didn't happen in Kano, so what's your point? The penal code is a statute subject to the Nigerian constitution. If any provision in that code is inconsistent with the provision of the constitution it becomes invalid. Are the states coordinate Or subordinate to the federal govt in Nigeria in law making?

    3. Hmmm.. I don't see how he'll get away without serving jail term unfortunately.

Although he acted under provocation, undoubtedly. But he slit the man's throat and then proceeded to cut his hands. I think if a single strike is what killed him it would have been debatable. But with one too many, errrr.. it may not exonerate him of manslaughter. Yea with a good lawyer he'd prolly spend the minimum jail term. Perhaps 2years. See the woman's face. Mumu

  12. Last I checked adultery while being legally married is punishable by certain number of years in jail, 7 , so?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Sweetie, I believe you're mistaking adultery for bigamy. Adultery isn't a criminal offence in the States which use the criminal code but bigamy is a crime which carries a 7 year prison sentence.

Just for the sake of clarity, adultery is the sexual relationship between a married person and another person other than his/her spouse, either married as well or not. While bigamy is deliberately consumating another marriage while still legally married to another. Bigamy only comes into play where a couple marries in accordance with the Marriage Act and Matrimonial causes law, i.e Marriage at the Registry or a Church wedding in a church authorised by Law to wed couples and issue Marriage certificates.

If you marry under the native law and custom, i.e traditional marriage only, the husband is free to marry as many wives as he desires and that can not amount to bigamy. That's why traditional marriage is falls under the polygamous system of marriage in Nigeria.

    1. Ezekiel, you're a very Correct man. You're really a man. REAL men are proud of you. Don't regret what you did. A good lawyer can save you from the hangman's noose. Claim it wasn't premeditated. You could get just a few years. You see why some of us dey fear to marry? Meanwhile, only a man who is way below an animal fucks another man's wife.

      Delete
    2. Saved from the hangman's noose? Probably, but not from the "next best thing", life imprisonment. It was premeditated because it started with a fight but when he realised he was being overpowered by his wife's lover, he went to his toilet to get a machete and used it on the deceased.

He can't claim that he had no intention of killing his wife's lover. In Law, he is presumed to have wanted to cause the death of his victim‎ because he was armed with a deadly weapon. If he dealt fit blows on the victim and the victim ended up dying, he can successfully argue that he had no intention of killing the victim because it is a reasonable presumption that regular fist blows for one man to another wouldn't ordinarily  cause death, though some have met their death that way. Generally, a man who fights with his fists doesn't not intend to kill his victim but a man who carries a deadly weapon intends to kill. That's the presumption in Law.

This is Nigeria, a person doesn't get "a few years" for murder or manslaughter. For murder, the penalty is death by hanging. For manslaughter, the penalty is life imprisonment. We don't operate the American criminal justice system where you hear things like "25 years to life" where the convict become eligible for parole after serving half of his/her prison sentence.

His actions are quite understandable, unfortunately it comes at a very steep price.‎ This is a classic example of how marrying the wrong partner can, quite literally, cause you your life.

  34. If he has a good lawyer, i doubt he woukd be charged for murder. He can claim self defence cos the man is an intruder in his house

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. @Tuscany no, darling, not a snowball's chance in hell! Self-defence doesn't come to play here, not in the least. He attacked his wife's love out of rage and provocation, he wasn't trying to defend himself from sudden and present danger. A very sound lawyer MAY pull off a defence of provocation. The fact that he stopped fighting to go and retrieve a weapon from another room(toilet) and returned to attack the deceased will make the defence of provocation shaky. Assuming the machete was already in the bedroom and he used it immediately, that would have availed ‎him better.

Another thing you should know about self-defence is, whatever you use in defending yourself must be proportional to the perceived threat or danger. For example, you can't claim self-defence if you ‎shoot a person who attacks you with his fists and no weapon but you can use a knife on a person who attacks you with a broken bottle. Most people assume you can use anything to defend yourself if and when u are attached but in Law, your mode of defence must be proportional to the attack.

What if he claims he thought the man was a thief that was raping his wife? He struggled and when ge was ober powered he had 2 attack with a machete?

    3. Lol Tuscany, I love ur argument about assuming rape at first sight.. But the woman wasn't crying for help. There was enough time to ascertain the intention of the "intruder". A rapist would flee as soon as a third party arrives the scene. In this case the "intruder" resumed combat with the homeowner.

  42. I wonder why a lot of married Igbo women are promiscuous. Why marry someone you do not love (some don't even like their spouses). I don't mean to disrespect the Igbo nation, but the truth is bitter and painful. A lot of your women are promiscuous because they are forced into marriage by their appetite for sheer materialism- materialism dey levels by levels- and the quest to escape poverty. Marry a man and build with him! Before you start singing like a frustrated parrot, let me state clearly that I have a number of them on my case, and they are all aged between 28 and 36. I'm not Yoruba, so this is not tribal bashing. I'm geographically closer to the Igbo nation than the Yorubas and Edos. Like I said, this issue should be wisely and constructively debated. What is the cause of this matrimonial anomaly? Should parents to be blamed for pressuring their kids into such marriages? Are they even the progenitors in the first place?

  50. Useless woman, she has destroyed the life of her husband and children all because of sex. That man should have walked away!
But he did it out of anger and self defense; he should get a very good lawyer, i believe he will be freed or given a short sentence.

Those children should be taken from that adulterous woman.
The Victor guy, fornication has sent you to hottest part of hell. There are single women everywhere to choose from; but you went for the one that was already taken.

All yee adulterous women on this blog, beware!

  51. This is not a premeditated act, he should get a soundl lawyer and he will walk free, he acted instantly, he never thoughta about it before committing this action. As for this adulterous lying woman, I don't just know what to say to her. Worse case worse case, he will be charged for manslaughter. All the same, I pray he walks free

  56. This story isn't complete.. where were the kids when the woman was eating the forbidden fruit? I can bet with my life. cheating on her husband wasn't because she was sex starved or the husband wasn't good in bed. it's definitely cos of the money involved. she might be owing the man because she used the money meant to pay for her supplies to take care of her basic and children's needs and the only way out of her debt was to pay back in kind, it's always hell when a woman finds herself in that kind of situation. it's terrible, she didn't have a choice so I don't blame nor judge her. her husbands actions goes a long way to prove the kind of man he is to her. if am faced with a situation like that my head will definitely explode but hey! that's not the end of the world. 65% percent of married women cheat on their husbands.
