Rio Olympics: Dogara Begs Siasia,Dream Team ''Don’t boycott q’final''

The Speaker of The House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, has sent a passionate appeal to the national U23 team styled Dream Team V1, not to boycott its quarter final encounter against Denmark on Saturday, at the on-going Rio 2016 Olympics.

Dogara, who was speaking against the backdrop of complaints of Team’s Head Coach, Samson Siasia, that the players of the team have refused to train and may boycott the tie due to unpaid allowances and wages said the Dream Team should take patriotism as a fulcrum of their campaign, as he will personally do everything within his powers to intervene in the matter.

He said the team with the likes of John Mikel Obi, Yakubu Umar, Oghenekaro Etebor and William Troost-Ekong has a very bright chance of repeating the feat of the Atlanta ’96 Dream Team led by the legendary Nwankwo Kanu and the team should be encouraged by all Nigerians.

“We will do all we can to ensure that all entitlements due to the team are paid, as we are already talking to relevant government agencies,” Dogara declared.
He noted that football being the major unifying factor in the country should be maximized by all for Nigeria’s continued joy and unity.

“We will stop at nothing to ensure that we get the team to excel in Brazil and for Nigeria to recreate the watershed of Atlanta’96.”

*No need to beg them, when they crash out, they should return...Nigeria was not ready for RIO.

  1. They have messed up those guys. It would take true spirit of sportsmanship for them not to fail today.

  2. This is the reason so many great Nigerian athletes would rather play for other countries. Our boys are playing really well though.
Win, and come and be gifted with lands in Abuja, LOL.

    Goodluck to them.

  3. The teams are ready Stella only the nff were not ready for them am not blaming them, NFF like chasing shadows.

  4. I was so optimistic about this year's Olympics for the team.
    I think I'm still hopeful.

They should be Patriotic Dogara says, how many of them ever had their sessions without hopes of being paid?

When these politicians utter that word "Patriotism" I feel like lot are far from it.

No Governor can even Sacrifice his salary and allowances for the well being of his people.

So Oga Dogara, skip that part and let the appropriate people pay this money.

If we can afford to give Christians and Muslims Dollar@I97 for Pilgrimage that will not affect the bottom line of the nation, will not even guarantee Heaven for the participants...We can do something for these Boys and more.

  5. They should be patriotic abi?

  6. This is to show how insensitive Mr. President is..this only thinks about himself, his family and his daura ppl

  7. Good luck to people watching RIO. Am I d only one not interested.

Dogara give them money from the padded budget na, stories will change

    1. You are not the only one oh. I didn't even know Nigeria has gotten to d quarter -finals. Good luck to them. Not interested much.

  8. Patriotic to a country like Nigeria? No Thanks would rather gather gold for Togo or ghana where i'll be appreciated!
