Actress Yewande Adekoya Cries Out Over Threat To Life By Movie Producer Akeem Balogun

 Hmmmm Friday Brouhaha eeeeeh

Good day Nigerians. My name is Yewande Adekoya-Abiodun. I am a happily married movie producer, screenwriter and actress. I have been practising since 2002 and i am presently a bonafide member of Tampan.

I want to beg Nigerians all over the world to please help me tell Akeem Olatunji Balogun (Olasco films) to leave my life alone. If anything bad happens to me, Nigerians, please hold Akeem Olatunji Balogun responsible.

He has marketed my movies for about six years now and i have nothing to show for it financially. I do not even have a car of my own. He sold igbodudu 1&2, omo elemosho1&2, kudi klepto1&2, Emere, Irawo meji and Kurukuru1,2,3.

This man is presently owing me the sum of 2million naira and he has refused to pay because he feels no one can challenge him. He has been owing me since 2014. When he owes you, you dare not ask for your money, if you do, he will start war just like the one he has just started.

He is also not the type that signs a contract due to his dubious character. He prefers verbal agreements. He is very influential in the yoruba movie market, so it is almost a waste of time to report him to anyone there. I know this because i had earlier reported him to several marketers who have good relationship with him, still no result. I called the president of the yoruba marketers association, he didn't pick my calls.

I was eventually able to speak with his assistant who sympathised with me and then told me that little or nothing could be done about the matter. Olasco has humiliated and oppressed me for too long, and now, i feel it's time to speak up. The last business deal i had with him that really pissed me off was Kurukuru, a three part  movie i wrote and produced while i was 8months pregnant in 2015. He released kurukuru online and on DVD in nov 2015, and then claimed we didn't make any profit from the 3 releases of the movie despite the huge success record the movie had.

I decided to keep mute about everything since last year. I decided to keep mute about everything since last year, because i do not like to fight anyone or make noise over anything whatsoever. He sent me an embarrassing sum of N300, 000 which he believes should serve as my payment for Emere, Irawo meji and Kurukuru part1,2 and 3. I quietly moved on with my life and faced my work squarely,  but Mr Akeem Balogun will not let me be. He keeps oppressing and terrorising anyone i choose to do business with. He even went as far as influencing movie marketers and some movie producers to stop casting me for movie roles. Why? What exactly did i do to you?

What exactly do you want from me? Mr Akeem Olatunji Balogun please leave me alone, i refuse to be enslaved by you, like you enslave some others. You don't pay them and you also won't let them do business with other people. Maybe it's because i refused to date you even after all these years, that is why you are strongly determined to destroy me. I serve a living God Mr Akeem and the God i serve will never allow darkness overcome light. Olasco films has refused to pay me my royalty for the three movies: Emere, Irawo meji and Kurukuru part1, 2, 3 and i have not yet taken him to court for that,  and he is here, strongly advocating against me doing business with other marketers and film distributors of my choice.

I know you are tough but my God is tougher than you. Don't try HIM. I still have the bounced cheque of 1million naira  that you gave me in 2011. May my God reward you accordingly.

My beautiful fans and fellow Nigerians all over the world, please help me tell this man to leave me alone oooooooooo if he does not want the wrath of God to descend on his entire household.

*Hmmmmm how can you be working for him for so long and you didnt gain anything but still continued?
Your story sounds somehow Madam and i will not agree or conclude with you until Akeem explains his side of the story.

    3. I like her boldness. Stella you need to understand how these marketers work with nollywood artists oh. Honestly I believe her story even without hearing from the man, because I often come across aggrieved producers whom marketers try to bully. Just like this lady's story.

They'll agree to market your movie on an agreed fee. For instance let's say 1M, then if the marketer makes more than 1M it's his luck, because the producer already agreed to a round fee.

This same man was the one that marketed Funke Akindele's hit movie Jenifa. He only paid her 1m for that movie not knowing it would be a hit. But because Funke already had a prior agreement of that amount, she couldn't do anything. That was why she rebranded jenifa part2 where she now made more money herself.

But in some cases, the producer gets paid according to how well the movie sells in the market. That is when the issue of money causes confusion btw marketers and producers. Once they have an issue with an actor they'll now frustrate the person and start to tell other producers not to feature the person in any movie, else they'll not market your work. They'll put an embargo on the person.

This lady should follow this matter to the last so to serve as a deterrent to other marketers who try to subdue their hard work to enrich themselves. Keep disgracing them like this. I just knew the story wouldn't end without any mention of the man trying to sleep with her. Na their ways abeg

      OK bye

Legally they should be called business partners. But he tried to swindle her. I guess she was giving him benefit of the doubt before it dawned on her

  10. I feel the problem in the yoruba movie industry is lack of structure. Everyone is a producer, even the upcoming ones. The moment they try to break into the movie scene without any success. The next thing they do is to gather cash and produce a movie of their own. I watch yoruba films a lot and i've noticed that the lead actor or actress is usually the producer.
Now madam Yewande who in God's green earth goes into a business with verbal agreement. There is something called contract. You have no evidence against him and as for the bounced cheque, he can decide to claim that he was dating you and gave you the cheque but it bounced and he gave u another one. The heart of man is that wicked.
One person can't be actress, writer, producer and director that's why division of labour was invented but like Stella said let's wait for the other party's side of the story.

I have an aunt that is being oppressed in her civil service job just because she refuse to sleep with ogas, sometimes they transfer her to different states within a short period of time. We have begged her including the husband to resign but she refused saying that it will be her greatest achievement to fight against sexual harassment and that can only be achieved when she attain a certain rank in her federal job. In fact I nearly sent you something like this call out last month if not that the family refused especially this their current boss that is even threatening her life.

But the foolish thing they do is always coming out Modernized, but acts primitively when it comes to doing stuffs. How can you ever enter into a contract with someone without a written agreement? Kia, its a shame. Its high time you learn the act of cinema ish stuff from the English genre producers. You dont even need a marketer again these day. Make a good movie of a good standard, get it to the cinema, online, etc and make your cool cash. As if it is a must for a dvd/cd film. Learn from Kunle Afolayan, etc. Meanhwile, Mr OLASCO, pls stop terrorizing these people oooooo, this life is too short, so many of your type yaff come and gone, do good while you are here, the evil you do will live after you.
