    1. Stop sounding half intelligent. Research doesn't kill. The first time the name appeared in written form is in Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice. People belive that it may be from the Hebrew name "Iscah". But the English version is from Shakespeare. The word has no English meaning but was the most popular name between 1981-1997.
