EFCC Re-arraigns Orji Kalu And Two Others Over N3.2bn fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has re-arraigned a former governor of Abia State, Orji Kalu and two others on a 34-count amended charge bordering on fraud.

Kalu, his company, Slok Nigeria Limited and his former Commissioner for Finance, Jones Udeogo, were re-arraigned before Justice Anwuri Chikere of the Federal High Court, Abuja on Tuesday.

The duo, however, prayed that the court should await the pending appeal by Slok before the Supreme Court.

Chikere had turned down the defendants’ objection to their arraignment and ordered that the charge be read to them immediately.
Kalu and others were in the amended charge accused of diverting about N3.2 billion from the Abia government’s treasury during Kalu’s tenure as governor.

They all pleaded not guilty to the charges and Chikere allowed them on bail on the terms attached to the bail granted them on April 30, 2008.
They had eight years earlier been arraigned before Justice Adamu Bello, who is now retired.

The court adjourned the case till December 6 for commencement of trial.

There is no how Orji Kalu can be arrested without T A Orji, the two worked hand in hand.
If his commissioner for finance was there, his chief of staff should equally be there.

  11. Kalu's travails may have something to do with his refusal to evict FFK from his multi million dollars Abuja mansion.

  18. Abbeg EFCC should stop insulting Orji Kali. How can he steal only 3 billion? JUST 3? that guy and TA stole every single penny the state had so we should be talking 100 billion and more. 3 billion should be his mothers share alone, not the total stolen. All these thieves should be locked up and our money recovered. Heartless men. You need to see Aba. Their own state. Shameless politicians. To think he wanted to be President. Hian

    1. May God bless you even in dis this Biafra struggle I wonder if an abia man can be president with the way they have taken badly care of their state ranging from bad rd,low health facilities, empty treasury of the state, the only state owned company thats the newspaper he sold it to himself, relocate it to Lagos state & rename it Sun newspaper, I will keep on saying dis God will never have mercy on our wicked politicians& their generation will be cursed. Inukwa 3billion or 300billion dollars.
