Man Says The Unthinkable!

A middle-aged father, Ojo Adewole on Wednesday told an Ikole Customary Court in Ekiti that he was involved in rape because his wife starved him of sex.

Adewole, who made this known when he testified in a divorce petition by his wife, Omotayo,35, admitted being involved in a rape case but blamed it on the wife. “Your honour, my wife had always starved me of sex.

Instead of taking care of me and the house, she went about partying and making friends. “My wife is simply wayward and the family had always supported her deeds. “Your honour, I may not have the moral justification to ask for the preservation of the marriage, but I am praying the court to reduce my monthly financial obligation to my children to N5,000,’’ he begged.

Adewole said: “my prayer for the slashing of the upkeep money hinges on the fact that I have just been released from detention and I do not have any tangible source of livelihood at the moment.’’ Omotayo had told the court that Adewole had been “sexually unruly’’, adding that he had gambled out their collective property and money. “Your honour, my husband is so addicted to gambling to the extent of using my three cell phones, cooking stove and other house utensils to gamble. “His habitual drunkenness made him to beat me so often. “He is not also responsible for the upkeep of our five children as he evades paying their school fees.

Your honour, I am tired of the marriage and I want it dissolved forthwith,’’ she said. She further said: “the father of my children does not have respect for her family members even though all of us stood by him when he was involved in a rape case.’’ The mother of five had sought for the custody of all the children and prayed the court to compel the respondent to assign some amount monthly for their upkeep. In her Judgment, the President of the court, Mrs Yemisi Ojo, dissolved the 15-years-old marriage between Omotayo and Adewole for promiscuity and gambling lifestyle.

Ojo held that the petitioner’s request had merit and “in the light of the evidence before the court it is clear that the respondent’s lifestyle had put off the feelings the petitioner initially had for him. “It is appropriate in the circumstance for parties to be allowed to go their separate ways. “I, therefore, order that the custody of the children from the union would remain with the petitioner,’’ the president held. Ojo said: “the respondent is ordered to give his ex-wife the sum of N10, 000 monthly for the upkeep of the children on monthly basis.’’

  1. SDK...all fingers are not equal, don't be comparing and contrasting. At his level that's what the COURT deems fit and that's what he's been asked to pay. Meanwhile for giving that silly excuse for raping... I think extra 10 years should be added to his sentence. If your wife deny you sex & you must do...PAY FOR IT

  5. All these useless judges will be awarding rubbish as child support. #10,000 for 5 children! Really Your Worship.
She had better go on appeal to request for more child support. Cos #10,000 for 5 children in this economic recession is shite.

  7. Whether a man or a woman, irresponsible behaviour is not good. Man, woman don't go into marriage until and unless you know what marriage entails. It is not just about sex. Divorce isn't good.
But why smh for #10000? That people swim in millions does not mean everybody can afford #5000. A man who can't afford #5000 can eventually produce millionaire children. After all most of us well to do people were not born into riches but came from poor to average families. We should stop dehumanising the poor. Even the Lord said that the poor will always be with us. Did he mean poor trees? And who goes to the great equalizer with his riches.Without being insensitive to the late olorogun(may his soul rip) the account of his alleged suffering and mistreatment in sickness should tell us that everything is vanity. Some poor people didn't have that rough in sickness and death.

See why divorce isn't good, the man sees #10000 as difficult to provide while the woman wants that. But bad as e bad, the man must spend more than #10000 and the wife must benefit more than #10000 in a month if they were living together as a family unit

    2. "Most of us well to do people" Lool Wherever makes you sleep at night. Dehumanizing the poor cos they asked him to fend for his kids? Was it the court that asked him to give birth to more kids than he cld take care of? Pls shut your mouth.

  9. Stella you are shouting ten thousand naira. I know of a very young couple, marriage is less than two years with a child and husband is comfortable but very selfish. The only thing he does is buy sma for his son and leave 1,000 naira for a whole day up keep. The husband, wife, brother and sister in law will feed from that one thousand. And if you see the man making mouth how he spends his entire fortune on his family.
As for the rapist, nothing justifies his action. Nothing! Umu nwoke apari ebe nile.

    1. ??? 1k a day is 30k a month? How can that compare to 10k a month for 5 kids.

    2. Hi sweetie! "The only thing he does"?? 1k a day is 30,000 a month. Minus d cost of SMA, at lease 4 a month. He pays rent. Likely fuels gen if they own one. Hopefully paid hospital bill when junior was born, likely baby things too. Hopefully TV dey house, few furniture, bits n pieces like dat. U adding all these up? So let's ask: how much does he earn/make monthly? How old are the brother & sister in-law? Do they work? Does wifey work? Does he have aged parents or other dependents?

My point is it's easy to stand outside & point & complain & be bitter, first gather facts, family issues are complicated!

    3. Hey dear A' lol, first the husband in question makes nothing less than half a million a month, secondly the wife he stopped her from working with the promise of "I will open a supermarket for you when I marry you", thirdly the people staying with him are learning a trade, fourthly he doesn't buy any other thing than that sma and fill his fridge with drinks. And yes I know what I am saying.
Did I mention he uses her as a punching bag? Odinma. No matter what you think or say, it's his duty as the "man" of the house like he claims to provide for his family. How can I be married and my parents still cloth me? How can I be married to a supposed capable man and I still ask my parents for money for toiletries and stuff?

    4. But some men are really stingy. I know one that spends anyhow on side chicks but finds it so hard and so painful to drop a dime for his family. They starve and beg for food from neighbors, and the wife does all she can to feed her kids. Yet the man is seen as a big man outside. He even lends people money. So I believe Olori's story is very possible.

  10. Stella, you said 10k for what? What if his salary is 12k per month? The judge must have find out how much income he earns before the 10k peg.

  12. Why is he not in jail for d rape case?

  13. he should have gotten a side chick to be servicing him since the wife refuse to give him her something. That 10k is too small in this Buhari season, am sure is cos he cannot provide for his family that is why the wife starved him of sex. Useless man.
