Obaseki Shined At Edo State Gubernatorial Debate Whilst Ize-Iyamu Fumbled

Did you watch the debate on TV between Obaseki and Ize-Iyamu?

OBASEKI

The flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the September 10 Edo governorship elections, Godwin Obaseki, emerged as the clear winner from the gubernatorial debate organized by Channels Television between the candidates in the governorship race - ahead of Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the factional candidate of the major opposition, Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).

According to those present in the audience, Obaseki was the most outstanding of the four runners in the 90-minute televised debate from Best Western Hotel, Benin City. He exuded confidence as he expertly responded to a series of questions ranging from how he would tackle the problem of insecurity in the state; plans to diversify and significantly boost the economy of Edo; and steps to tackle unemployment and create 200,000 jobs in 4 years.

The consensus among young people who watched the debate was summed up by 21-year old Joy Iredia, a student of the University of Benin: "Up until now I did not take much interest in politics. But listening to all the candidates speak, I was drawn in by the candidate of the APC, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, and how kept his focus on the issues and articulated his plans to take Edo State forward, particularly the use of technology as a tool for effective governance and job creation.”

On his part, Mr. Osahon Bello, a civil servant, said, “The civil service forms the major workforce in Edo State. I align with Obaseki’s plan to restructure the civil service in order to be more efficient and productive through robust training strategies to meet the challenges of fostering strong, sustainable and balanced economic growth.”

Obaseki, a renowned investment banker and wealth management expert of over 30 years repute, posited that the economic challenges confronting us as a people today are so complex that it takes someone with a full grasp of all the issues, and practical experience in solving complex economic problems to lead the state on the path to prosperity.

Referring to the ‘simple agenda’ of PDP’s Ize-Iyamu, Obaseki pointed out that this is the time for us to be circumspect and think things through very carefully, not simplistically. “Simple solutions cannot solve our complex political problems; they cannot solve our complex economic problems; and can definitely not solve our complex security problems. It is mental indolence to think there are simple solutions to our problems.”

The APC flagbearer noted, “The world is set for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. We have identified the cycles and markers and we are prepared to play our part in this forward shift in the gears, ideologically opposed to being left behind. Our vision is a modern and progressive Edo State where every citizen is empowered with opportunity to live life in its fullness.”

In his closing remark, Obaseki assured of better days ahead for Edo people, promising that his will be a people-oriented and inclusive government. He appealed to the electorate to support his bid by voting massively for the APC come September 10.

  8. Clearly and hopefully this post is a sponsored post. Lmao! It was actually the other way round. Obaseki looked dumb while Pastor Ize-Iyamu made valid points and deftly answered his questions.
The APGA candidate kept referring to my home state...Anambra that I started wondering if he didn't know it's Edo state he's contesting in. The LP guy is just a thanks for coming kinda guy....he was going in circles.
Edo people, choose wisely! If their's any hope of Edo State having a sensible and focused leader, Ize-Iyamu is the man. He was exceptional yesternight🙌🙌🙌

By "sp" Stella I believe you mean sponsored. If not then it is a tragedy if any one who saw that debate would conclude that obaseki came out shinning. I am apolitical and really don't even care who wins the governorship race in Edo, but I think that any close watcher would pointedly see that Ize Iyamu was ontop of his game and acted and spoke like a man who knew what he was going to do to fix edo. Obaseki sounded off intelligent and for the most part on the defensive which I find very worrying for a man of his intellectual prowess he seemed to have NO clear cut agenda per se , which any watcher would readily discover, the other candidates Osaro Onaiwu and the Labour party contestant where mere time wasters who should apologise to viewers for displaying full fledged ignorance on air. Onaiwu already has a bad reputation from the days of Ade Bendel and appeared incoherent and lost. The labour party contestant dressed as a school headmaster was like the joker in the mix. Constantly writing down his points with a red Biro and nodding his head like a man who had lost his sense of speech.

Seun: You mean that is how u will create the 200,000 jobs? Why have u not told this current govt to use the same method if it is that feasible to create job as the head of the economic team? Why waiting until u become the governor?

  37. DID I NOT TELL YOU?
I watched the debate hosted by Channels TV on the 4th of September 2016 in full. I am glad to say that I was vindicated on all counts.
    1. I warned you that POI is a fake pastor but you did not believe me. The candidate of Labour party, Pastor Areolegbe gave glory to God several times. POI completed that debate without a single mention of God's name. He even hailed Edo State as a place where the consumption of beer is very high. He posed as a person who would encourage investment in the setting up of more breweries in the state. Is this the man of God who will turn Edo State into El Dorado?

    2. I warned you that POI is a serial liar but many of you did not believe me. In that debate he lied about everything. He said Bendel Brewery made a monthly profit of N25million but we all know that is untrue. He said Ambrose Alli funded the free education programme with profits from Bendel Brewery but that too is a lie. What did his government of 1999-2007 fund with money from the brewery?

    3. Did I not warn you that POI knows nothing about international business? In his question to GO he asked how much commission his company was paid by the World Bank for a project they funded. The idiot thinks that the World Bank gives kickbacks like they do in PDP.

    4. Did I not tell you that POI is the unrepentant looter behind Lucky Igbinedion? GO to POI: “Pastor, as Secretary to State Government, you personally signed a check for $30m to Ava Cement whereas Edo State's Okpilla Cement existed. Why and what was the money used for?” Ize Iyamu's Answer: “I'm surprised that a so called Economic Adviser can ask such a question when Ambrose Alli University is underfunded!” He did not answer the question, neither did he refute it. Instead, he said something completely unrelated to the question.

    5. Did I not tell you that POI knows nothing about his SIMPLE agenda and that it was written for him? He talked about finance, education, industries, employment, infrastructure and a lot of issues without reference to the SIMPLE agenda that he waves around everywhere he goes.

    6. Did I not tell you that POI speaks from both sides of his mouth? He said that he was a mere employee under Lucky Igbinedion but as soon as he started projecting the so-called achievements of that government, he forgot himself and started saying “we did this… we did that…” He took credit for accreditation of courses in AAU and the employment of 4000 teacher amongst other. He wants to take credit for the few things Lucky did well but at the same time he does not want to be associated with the wrongdoings of that government.

    7. Did I not tell you that POI is a desperado? His demeanour at the debate was that of an area father ready to kill and be killed. At no time did he look like a man of God and an apostle of peace. He went into the debate, not as a servant of God who believes that God has chosen him but as a mortal who wanted to impress and who was sold out to conceited self-confidence. He was led by his will rather than the spirit. He looked desperate throughout and never managed to smile. He looked like a fish out of water most times.

  38. Obaseki nor Oga. The truth is that IZE IYAMU and his electronic Urchins has been making noise that they will demolished Obaseki in a live debate even in his private room.

Today the story is different, Ize Iyamu cannot even answer a simple question, he forgot every thing in his simple looting agenda while he concentrated on attacking Oshiomhole administration where he served for 6years, instead of telling Edo people what he plans to do for the state.

Where are the PDP urchins, can they still say that Obaseki cannot speak in the public when their principal has been humiliated in a live debate with Obaseki?

Obaseki refuse to attend the PDP arrangee debate in the past because, there was a secret plan by the PDP to use their hungry members who is impersonating activism to sell PDP agenda and to attack Obaseki in a live PDP organized debate. But today the story is different, PDP is now in shame here in Edo State.

Obaseki quote of the day " I wonder why Ize Iyamu whose boss was convicted in a court of law over huge corruption case will still be talking about corruption in government "

    ReplyDelete
  39. To be honest if ize Iyamu concentrated on what he wants to do he would have overshadowed Godwin, but he was busy with blames and that took most of his time, then he was very disrespectful not reciting d national anthem....Godwin has d analysis,he talked about d diversification agenda, how they r mapping out plans to stop d illegal taxation going on in d state and so on....but lacked presentation which I know can be worked on...I don't think edo state need a politician! I think at this time we need an economical person like Godwin cause he was d only one that really talked about d diversification Nigeria and edo state really need. Not everyone is public articulated like d seating governor (Osho). Obaseki faced issues, Ize Iyamu came with bitterness & anger for Obaseki & Osho, attacking d government of the day & Obaseki, his fellow aspirant & he calls himself a "pastor".
Our mumu don do, we know who we want & certainly not a rugged pastor like POI. Forget debate; it doesn't interprete who can deliver, GO has d brain & experience not an acclaimed pastor without pulpit dat has his hands stained & soiled!

  51. After listening to the promises and allegations and counter allegations of the candidates especially involving the two important candidates, both Godwin Obaseki of the APC and Ize-iyamu of the PDP, it obviously clear that both candidates are seeking the interest of the electorates but as they say, one must always outwit the others and beside one is "fantastically corrupt" than the other but let the better man wins.
So, all those in favour of Godwin say I and those who don't want him say Nai.... the Nai has it.
All those in favour of Ize-iyamu say I and those who say they don't want him say Nai.... the I has it.
