Ooni Of ife Made Life Patron Of Sagamu Patriots Club

Trustee and members of the Sagamu Patriots Dinner's Club from Sagamu Remo in Ogun State were last weekend in in Ile-Ife to re-unite with their kinsmen of Iremo community in the town. Iremo quarters is a district in Ile-Ife believed to be the source of all the people of Remoland in Ogun State.

President of the Sagamu Club Professor Gabriel Ogunmola speaking to the journalists at the Ile-Oodua palace of the Ooni after returning from Iremo quarters described their visit as a homecoming Which has given them blessings and joy of origination.

"We as Remo people are bonafide descendants of Oduduwa. We have connected to our source today and it's indeed a joy of origination which raised our spirit because once you connect with your source, your spirit comes ON". Professor Ogunmola.

On is own, the Club's Vice President Dr Bola Kalejaiye said they were in Ife to pay homage to the African foremost monarch and see where exactly their Remo ancestors migrated from, several centuries ago.
"We Remo people are from Ife, our ancestors are from here, infact we have been to Iremo quarters which is our ancestral home today before coming to pay homage to Ooni Ogunwusi as the overall father of Yoruba nation. We were there to see exactly where we Remo people migrated from centuries ago, and it's been a wonderful experience". Dr Kalejaiye said.

The members of the club also at the palace honoured
Ooni Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II as the grand patron of the club.

During the investiture  of the king, the president of the club, Prof. Gabriel Ogunmola, eulogised the outstanding qualities of the Ooni. According to him, the remarkable influence of the Ooni both at home and abroad is commendable.

"The giant steps that have made waves nationally and internationally, must be encouraged and we want to encourage your Imperial Majesty to continue this effort with great strides in order for us to make progress, enhance over civilisation and promote our culture that would make u contribute more to upliftment of our youth, our polity and our resources".

"We are most honoured to have your imperial majesty as  Grand Patron of our prestigious club that stands for excellence, enlightenment and civility in all we do. We ask your Imperial Majesty and our Grand Patron to anoint us with your blessings for the task we have appointed for ourselves, among our youth, our community, the nation and humanity."

While enumerating the activities of club, Prof. Ogunmola urged the Ooni to continue to guard the Yoruba culture.
He also identified youth empowerment as a key to social development.

"Our culture needs security, order and leisure so as to involve noble perception, knowledge and pursuit of happiness for which we are all committed.
This nation must survive and the race must thrive. A host of unemployed youth faces the grim problem of survival and an equally great number toil with little return. We must remove them off the streets and create farming families and procure raw materials to feed our industries. The food we eat must come from farming hands.

"Our greatest primary task is to promote enlightenment, skills acquisition, cultural and civility and put people to work. There would be no unsolvable problem if we face it wisely and courageously. It can be accomplished in part by directly recruiting into the farming population with improved tools accomplishing greatly needed projects to stimulate and re-organise the use of our natural resources while protecting the environment."
Professor Ogunmola added.

On his part, Ooni Ogunwusi commended the group for having programmes that would benefit the youths.

He appreciated them for tracing their roots home, urging other Yoruba indigenes to do the same.

"Yorubaland needs collaborative efforts to develop at desired rate. We all need to come together to make it great. I am glad to receive you back home and I hope others emulate you by returning to their source,"  Ooni said.

It will be recalled that The Oluwo of Iwo in the State of Osun HRM Oba Rasheed Adewale had earlier two months ago led hundreds of Iwo sons and daughters including Chief Abiola Ogundokun to visit the Owodo's compound of Okerewe quarters in Ile-Ife which is the homestead of  Ooni Luwo mother of Telu the first Oluwo of Iwoland.
