Word For Today - Forgiveness, The Burden Lifter..

There is a prayer we recite daily, yet take for granted! "... Father forgive us our trespasses AS WE FORGIVE THOSE WHO TRESPASS AGAINST US!"

Everyone of us somehow has been hurt by someone, but the truth remains that it is only FORGIVENESS that cuts the umbilical cord between you and the event that got you infuriated!

Infact, the benefits are more for the person who forgives than the person who is forgiven. When you forgive, you feel less stress, you become more resourceful, you sleep better, and above all, Forgiveness clears your heart so that you can see God(Matt 5:8)!

Now get this right,  THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH BEING ANGRY, The issue here is STAYING ANGRY.

Think about this; Do we really want God to treat us the way we treat other people? When we goof, we run to God for forgiveness, but when people hurt us, we judge them based on their flaws. Oftentimes when we make grevious mistakes, GOD UNDERSTANDS THAT WHAT WE DID WAS BAD, BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN THAT WHO WE ARE IS BAD!

As imperfect beings that we are, we must create an atmosphere where FLAWED PEOPLE CAN STILL BE LOVED!

If Jesus was bleeding to death and yet forgave, we as His followers must also try to forgive others too.
Forgiveness is a Godly attribute,  put it to action.

  3. Grudge is one difficult thing for me. My mumu button is seeing an angry face, you will just see me trying to please the person. I can't even be angry with anyone. That is why xoxo mystery used to say that I turn my enemies to friends. Everyone is treated equal. I don't have time to dislike anybody because I am the only important person to me.

  4. Hmmmm...I believe this is my message...its too difficult..I've never been so hurt in my life..infact I've never been hurt..5yrs of relationship,2yrs of engagement and here I am,single..it's just a week after d breakup and I still feel like my heart is gonna explode..I'm angry and hurt..I feel like I can forgive him cos he's a good guy but hate him for not standing up for us..I feel like I wish d brother who started all the process to breaks up to experience all d evil of d world..but then I feel like God has a better plan but that's difficult to believe..why didn't d relationship end after one yr..why wait till 5yrs of my life is wasted? It's still too fresh and I don't know if I can forgive all of them that influenced him..and him also for letting himself be influenced after all we've been thru together..maybe as time goes on,my heart will get free..I only ask for God to give me d grace to let go..

Abeg swerve, blaming another person. I no u are still begging home to come back. Better move on. A whole 7yrs.

    4. Blame him, don't blame his bro. He was the one who left you. My ex did same but thank God it was only six months, his mom didn't approve, thank God it was early. Will prolly not get over it soon, but

  6. Nice write-up.

If you dislike someone's attitude, it's ok but when you dislike the person, it's same as hating the person. MO

  7. DH lied to me about so many things before we got married, and I found out after the wedding I've forgiven him but I find it difficult to trust him most times, he has complained about it several times and I keep reminding him that trust can only be earned and once broken needs to pass through the process of rebuilding again..
In most cases, as a human being you forgive but not forget and also tread carefully next time

  10. Forgiveness ought to have fruit. Which is no more dislike which is same as hate. Which is also no more malice and bitterness and anger. That is if you've truly forgiven there should be obvious signs and fruits of forgiveness says blogger Angel Eze on her blog Angel Eze's Blogvine.

  11. Well we have to be sure that what makes us dislike a person isn't because he /she has something we covet or don't have. That is envy and poisonous to the soul.
However,if you dislike a person because of bad traits and character and feel a friendship with that person will corrupt you ,then its best to keep a distance

  15. You can dislike or hate one's character but not hate or dislike the person . It is easier said than done but i will try not to hate some persons.

  17. I am a very playful person but when people hurt me I really find it hard to forgive not that I don't want to forgive them but the incident keep hurting me whenever I remember it.But prayers changes things we can't change ordinarily, I am praying that God should make me a better person and imbibe in me the spirit of forgiveness.

  18. Bv Mara,I want to assure you that the 5yrs wasn't wasted,God was just acting according your biography in his book,so its a process for your success and am sure you learnt somethings,I was in the same situation but believe me you will appreciate God for taking you out of that relationship later, tomorrow is always greater than yesterday, I have learnt how to forgive and that's the shortest road to a happy life.

  19. I think another way is to let the person know that they hurt you rather than keep malice, holding grudges or acting childish at the end of the day...its not easy but that's why we have Jesus to ease the burden for us..

  22. E-hugs to you Mara. I was engaged and date had been fixed for wedding only for the guy to turn a demon and hit me three times and almost killed me if not for Gods intervention. I broke up two weeks to the wedding and ran for my life. I lost over 2million naira... Yes I did. I paid for the house he now lives which was supposed to be our home. I furnished it to taste cos he was broke at that time and promised to pay back. I left it all and ran for my dear life and handed him over to God. I almost died then cos of the shame and pain.I forgave and moved on though it was really difficult and now, I'm a better person with a growing business and an apartment and God still blessestime daily.... Forgiveness is key..... Pat.B

  24. Well said. At the right time for me. Going thru hurt and pain from a relationship. Trusting God for peace and inner joy to overcome the heart break. Just a year into the relationship-the man showed his real person-glory to God that we were still in courtship level. Women be careful not to spend for any man when you are not yet married.

  26. To think I have been so mad at my husband, he keeps doing the same thing that he knows upset me and he begged me 2mins before reading this. The part he said it clears your heart so you see God got me and isn't that all we pray for above all things....
