.Box Office Top 20: 'Girl On The Train' Races To Top Spot

The film adaptation of Paula Hawkins' best-selling psychological thriller

"The Girl on the Train" easily topped the box office this weekend, outpacing the embattled slavery drama "The Birth of a Nation" by a long stretch.

Starring Emily Blunt, "The Girl on the Train" took in $24.5 million for a first-place finish, while Nate Parker's "The Birth of a Nation," a Sundance sensation that's been overshadowed by a rape case in Parker's past, netted only $7 million for a sixth-place bow. The film, about Nat Turner's 1831 slave rebellion was acquired by Fox Searchlight for a record $17.5 million. - AP

•Ben Affleck Opens Up About Co-Parenting with Estranged Wife Jennifer Garner: 

'We Try Our Best'

Ben Affleck is getting candid about co-parenting his three children with estranged wife, Jennifer  Garner.

The A-list couple separated over a year ago, but continue to live on the same property and share responsibilities for their daughters, Violetand Seraphina, and son Samuel.

“We do our best,” the actor and producer told ET’s Lauren Zima at the Los Angeles premiere of his new film, The  Accountant. “We try our best.”

The 44-year-old star added that while the couple share parenting  duties, there’s one task he’s not so great with – homework!

“My areas of expertise with the kids [are] spotty at best,” he said. “Not homework. I only play an accountant in the movie. In real life, I'm badly wanting.” He may not be putting his hand up to help with homework, but the children’s work is never far from his side.

Justin Timberlake is dedicating his new Netflix film, Justin Timberlake +  The Tennessee Kids, to late music legend Prince.

Kevin Hart knows he's made mistakes in the past, but he's man enough to admit it. When the comedian stopped by the set of Chelsea Handler's Netflix show,Chelsea, the conversation turned to his new marriage to model  Eniko Parrish, which Hart is confident will be better than his first.

"I was young on my first marriage, Chelsea," Hart explained. "I'm not ashamed to say it, guys. I got married at the age of 22. I was still all over the place. I didn't really understand the definition of marriage. I wasn't ready for it, so I take responsibility. I can say I messed my first marriage up. I'm man enough to say that."

Hart, 37, was married to ex-wife Torrei from 2003-2011. The couple share two children together: 11-year-old daughter, Heaven, and 8-year-old son, Hendrix. -ET Online

•Ryan Reynolds Pays Tribute to Late 'Deadpool' Fan With Heartfelt

Ryan Reynolds honored a late friend over the weekend, on what would have been his 14th birthday.

Connor McGrath, a Deadpool fan from Canada, died in April after a three-year bout with cancer, but not before winning over Reynolds, who starred as the "merc with a mouth" in February's Deadpool standalone film.

"My friend Connor McGrath would have been 14 years old tomorrow," Reynolds wrote Saturdayon Instagram. "He isn't here now, but he stuck around long enough to make everyone he knew fall over laughing. Right up to the very end he was as quick with a joke as he was with a hug. - ET Online
