Former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, will return to Nigeria today.
Obanikoro, who has been out of the country for over a year, will head to the office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over corrupt charges hanging on his neck.
Obanikoro, is expected to arrive Nigeria Monday mourning enroute London, Thisday reports.
In July, operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, stormed the Ikoyi residence of Obanikoro, and picked up his wife, Alhaja Moroofat Omolola.
DSS, for hours, searched the house for documents to nail Obanikoro accused of transporting hundreds of millions in cash via Akure airport during the 2014 election campaign of Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose.
Reacting, Obanikoro condemned the act and demanded that his wife should not be persecuted.
It was gathered that the EFCC has since sent Obanikoro a formal invitation to appear andprovide answers to allegations, including transfer of N1.2bn to him through his son’s account.
The former Lagos PDP gubernatorial aspirant while in the US bagged a degree.
He was also said to have stayed back in the US to address some health issues.
